Deacon Phillippe is a high school graduate! The son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe recently showed off his grad status this past weekend with a carousel of Instagram images, including a ton with his parents.
Having been homeschooled, the Witherspoon/Phillippe fam got a little creative to give Deacon the full graduation experience. A photo on Ryan’s Instagram shows the dad to Ava and Deacon dressed up in his own cap and gown, serving as the principal for the ceremony.
The orange-clad graduate (complete with what we believe are orange slide sandals) from Mountain High School got the full pomp and circumstance musical lead-in, per a home video. After a few handshakes and the handing over of the diploma, Deacon walks off, cheers and tosses his hat in the pool (which is then grabbed by mom Reese in a heartbeat).
Both Reese and Ryan shared their own set of photos on Instagram to celebrate their youngest’s achievement. Reese captioned her post with “So proud of the thoughtful, talented, kind & generous young man you have become. You light up our hearts and make us proud everyday. We 🧡you!”
On Ryan’s post, Deacon commented back with a “Best Dad Ever,” alongside many other well wishers.
Reese and Ryan divorced back 2008 but the parents to two are known to come together when it comes to their children. Now that both their children are full-fledged adults (though Reese does share a nine-year-old son with husband Jim Toth), Reese has shared that she enjoys her role as a parent to older kids.
She tells Tracee Ross Ellis, “I’m really, really grateful that these little humans are in my life. Adult humans. I have two adult children now, Tracee. It’s crazy,”
They grow up so fast!
