In a viral TikTok video, a teen reveals that her grandma spent years saving all her coins to buy her a prom dress
Prom is a major rite of passage for teens, but having the full experience can quickly get expensive—there’s the outfit, the shoes, a pre-dance meal, tickets to the prom itself, and so many other expenses. For one lucky (and very loved) teen, grandma came to the rescue. A viral TikTok video shows that this loving Nana saved up her coins for years in order to buy her granddaughter a prom dress.
The video was shared by a teen named Jayden, who wrote in the caption, “get a grandma like mine🥰”

The video shows Jayden and her grandma feeding jars of coins into a counting machine (even accidentally jamming it in the process, just because Grandma saved so many pennies) and watching the total on the screen slowly tick upward—$100, then $200, then $300, finally stopping at more than $350. That will go a long way toward getting Jayden the dress of her dreams, no matter what it looks like.
“My grandma has been saving these pennies since i started high school,” Jayden wrote over the video. “She saved them to buy my senior prom dress.”
The comments on the video have been flooded with other teens and grandmas who were touched by this loving gesture—in fact, Jayden’s grandma may as well be the whole internet’s grandma now, for how much everyone on TikTok loves her.
“Don’t ever stop spending time with her! You’ll miss her. I wish mine was around for prom,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “tell your grandma how much everyone loves her.”
In a follow-up video, Jayden had a message for her grandma’s newly acquired fanbase.
“For everyone in the comments that was being really nice to Kim, Kim loves y’all.”
