Like many of us, Bell and Shepard are up against the questions and inconsistencies that come along during this holiday-filled time of year. Here’s how they handled the not-so-truthful story of Santa Claus—with, as always, exceptionally good parenting skills. Shepard admits, “I have a fundamental rule that I will never lie to them, which is challenging at times.” The actor decided that the lies had to stop right then and there, telling his kiddos, “You know what? This is just a fun thing we pretend while it’s Christmas.” So how did Lincoln and her three-year-old sister Delta react to the news? Don’t worry about Bell and Shepard’s daughters suffering from any sort of post-Santa truth trauma.
