Steamy bowls of pho, chicken tikka masala burritos, gourmet gelato popsicles and burgers piled high with produce—food halls offer options like these and much, much more. They are the perfect spot for families because they provide a break from meal monotony, offer something for everyone, and just might push the kids to try something new. We’ve gathered 15 of our favorite foodie spots that are totally worth a visit (or two!). See them all below.

Anaheim Packing District – Anaheim, Ca

Originally distributing the citrus fruit for which Orange County was named, the Packing District was converted to a community gathering space a few years ago with two levels of restaurants. Try some made-to-order fish and chips from The Chippy followed by gelato or sorbetto on a stick at Popbar. The chicken sandwiches from Sweetbird never disappoints. You can grab your eats and choose a spot at any of the communal tables or even swing in one of the wooden bench swings on the bottom level. Visiting without the kids? Definitely plan a stop at the super secret speakeasy The Blind Rabbit (if you can find it!).

Must Try: Snowballs from I Am (corn puffs with liquid nitrogen)

For tots (or parents!) who love luxury, your dream boutique has officially arrived in the Melrose District. Posh Kids is where you can find the hottest, high-end labels in European fashion for label loving little ones sizes 2 to 12 without flying across the pond. Unique clothing and accessories, along with top notch service are definitely the name of the game here.  And what a pretty, pretty game it is.

Posh Kids’ shop is so stunning, it’s hard to believe it’s geared toward the same small pint set who were just wiping drool on their sleeves seconds ago (with pinkies out of course). Upon entering, it feels more like a gorgeously chic boutique you ‘d pop into with girlfriends along Rodeo Drive. Vogue cover-worthy boys’ and girls’ clothing, footwear and accessories fill the store to the brim in both casual and more formal fancy pants styles with prices ranging from $60 to $600. The store’s super attentive and knowledgeable staff offers personalized service and private fittings with a personal stylist if you’re looking a little extra TLC.

The store opened just in time for the holidays, and the huge selection of designer handbags and formal dresses by brands like Hucklebones and Lili Gaufrette were extremely popular for holiday dress up, and remain some of the chicest items currently available in store.  (So when the next wedding invitation arrives for the whole family, this shop should be your first stop!)

Though their Spring/Summer 2015 collections have yet to hit the floor, Posh Kids is already looking ahead to warmer months and the fashionable finds it will bring. Expect a huge rise in floral and animal print patterns, whether on dresses or harem pants as the upcoming season is all about these fresh and intricate designs. For girls, must-haves include any frilled dress from the Roberto Cavalli SS15 collection such as “Yellow Citrus” and “Vintage Rose and Leopard”. They’re lightweight, uber posh and scream Spring.  (Which we’re all ready for – it did rain for like 5 whole days!) For boys, Mayoral’s blue cotton and linen blend shorts should definitely be top of mind. Style these lovelies up or down with a trendy tee or bright linen button up and your mini mogul will be dressed to impress.

Yes, we dress them in every day play clothes most of the time, too.  But when you need to put on the dog for a spiffy event, or just slip a few cool pieces into their wardrobe to mix and match (as every serious fashionista does), this is just the spot for you.

Reader Discount: Posh Kids is happy to offer a 10% discount to first time buyers that mention RED TRICYCLE. This can be tacked on to any on-going promotions, including the Winter Sale Event they’re currently promoting with savings of up to 30% on select AW14 merchandise.

Parent bonus: Alfred Coffee & Kitchen’s newest outpost is literally right around the corner from Posh Kids, so you can easily stay fueled for a day of shopping fun.

Every parent can appreciate a service that provides a personalized touch, makes the parenting journey a bit easier, and understands that only the best for their kiddos will do. Cue Citrus Lane, a company that does all that and more. Your Totally Awesome pick for best subscription box service, Citrus Lane mails out thoughtfully selected products based on the age of your kid. It’s a community, a trusted product resource, and a handy service you won’t believe you lived without.

Founder Mauria Finley recently took the time to chat with us about what makes Citrus Lane so awesome, her advice for aspiring business owners, how to balance business with parenthood, and more. Read on:

Red Tricycle: Congratulations on being voted “Most Awesome” by your community! What do you think your customers value most about your business?

Mauria Finley: I believe our customers truly value the discovery and delight that Citrus Lane brings into their homes each month. We carefully select the toys, gear, snacks, and other goodies that go into our boxes, listening to customer feedback to include “parent-approved” products that kids love. And since each box is based on the current age of the child, kids love opening their Citrus Lane boxes to see what goodies arrive each month. Busy parents love discovering amazing new products for their family—without having to spend hours researching online or in stores. Our customers place a lot of trust in us and expect to receive only top quality products, so we work hard to earn that trust each month.  Every product we put in our boxes comes highly recommended by real parents. We ask our incredible community to give feedback on each and every product they receive, and then include the products they liked best in future shipments.

RT: What inspired you to start your business?

MF: I was inspired to start Citrus Lane after I became a first-time mom. I wanted the best for my baby so I emailed all my mom friends and asked which products they loved the most. I was flooded with emails recommending everything from pacifiers to swaddle blankets. I was overwhelmed with all the product choices! Being a parent is an amazing experience, but it’s not an easy job. That’s why I created Citrus Lane—to help parents discover innovative products, share information, ask questions and find inspiration from one another.

RT: Any advice for new business owners just getting started?

MF: A lot of entrepreneurs, especially women, ask me for advice on how to get started. I’m always happy to help if I can, especially because I’d love to encourage more women to start companies. The first piece of advice I give everyone is ‘find a big market and get to deeply know your customer’. It sounds cliché, but it’s critical to success. My second piece of advice is to pick an idea you love and build a team that inspires you. I sometimes joke that Citrus Lane is my third child, because I love the experience of helping the company grow so much. Not that I could ever love a company as much as my boys, but sometimes the experience of being a mom and a CEO have a lot of similarities! Growing Citrus Lane, I have felt many of the same emotions that I feel watching my children grow—incredible  joy when its working, pride when I share its success with others, fear when I’m not sure what to do next, frustration when things aren’t going well, etc. Starting a company will be an emotional journey, so I suggest picking an area you love and working with a team you want to see every day.

RT: Can you give us one tip for balancing entrepreneurship with parenthood?

MF: This may sound like crazy advice, but my big breakthrough was giving up on trying to do it all. I call my strategy ‘thoughtful flakiness’. Early in my career, I answered every email and was on top of every detail. As a mom, I just have fewer hours in the day to work. Now, I stay laser focused on my top priorities at work (a key hire, a strategic partnership, supporting my team), and I let most of the other stuff go. I do the same at home. My husband and I try to do as close to zero housework as we can. That means we live with a lot of toy clutter, messy cars, and stacks of unopened mail, but we spend every second we aren’t working with the kids, instead of on chores. We are home for almost every breakfast and dinner; we are on the soccer field every Saturday morning, and we make it to most school events even when they are at awkward times. So our house isn’t perfect and my email is overflowing? I prefer to spend all my time with my two little bears, my awesome husband, and our incredible team at Citrus Lane.

RT: What is your proudest moment as a business owner or parent?

MF: I always love hearing how Citrus Lane has brightened someone’s day or helped out a new parent. I especially love the pictures our community shares each month of their super cute kids enjoying their boxes. Seeing cuddly babies and adorable toddlers enjoying Citrus Lane toys and goodies reaffirms why I stared this company. Recently, I was very proud of our team on the launch of our Citrus Lane Guides. In one month, we received a million votes from parents on what products have worked the best for their children. We took all this information and created easily searchable Guides in categories like Best Bathtime and Best Boardbooks to help parents navigate all the choices out there.

RT: Is there a special offer you’d like to include for Red Tricycle readers?

MF: Yes! Red Tricycle readers can get $10 off their first box with code TAKETEN on any subscription!

This is our weekly guest post from our friends at Seattle Magazine, which keeps readers on the pulse of restaurants, personalities, arts, entertainment and culture that reflect the tapestry of our dynamic landscape. We’ve teamed up for an exciting partnership to bring you a weekly dose of fantastic Date Night ideas throughout greater Seattle.

It’s easy to fall into a rut of a routine. Dinner at your usual place, your favorite entree, off to an evening movie and then back home. The date night cycle. Thankfully, Seattle Magazine is here to save you from the same old same old with their Best Beers in Seattle roundup. Now you have an excuse to try a new bar, request a new beverage, and be your very own food critic. Or, go hunt some of these down in the 6-pack variety for a lovely autumn beer-tasting afternoon at home. What a fabulous excuse to support local.

Washington brewers produce a wide variety of delicious beers that span virtually all beer styles. Our favorite picks are from the styles that are most common around here and represent a range of beers—light, heavy, low alcohol, high alcohol, etc. For your drinking pleasure, we provide two or three suggested beers: one that is common, one that is less common, and one that is an exceptional representation of the style.

Ales

PALE ALE
Based on a traditional English style, a style of ale that has been commonly brewed in Britain for more than 100 years, pale ale describes a broad spectrum of beers that can be sweet or dry, bitter or floral, or any combination of those characteristics. Pale ales range from 5.0 to 6.0 percent alcohol content and are usually dark gold or copper colored.

Expect to find: Manny’s Pale Ale, Georgetown Brewing
Crisp, clean and smooth, with a hint of citrus and a snappy hop finish

Take it up a notch: Dick’s Pale Ale, Dick’s Brewing
A mild, lightly hopped ale with a touch of residual sweetness

Impress your bartender: Universale Pale Ale, Fremont Brewing
A hop-centered pale ale with herbal qualities and a dry, drinkable finish

IPA
According to legend, brewers in late-18th-century England created a beer specifically to endure the long and tumultuous voyage to India, increasing the alcohol and hop content to help preserve the beer. Modern IPA is strong (6.5 to 7.5 percent alcohol content) and very aggressively hopped, but otherwise has nothing to do with the legend. There is wide variation within this very popular beer style.

Expect to find: Boundary Bay IPA, Boundary Bay Brewing
Balanced floral aromas and citrus overtones

Take it up a notch: Breakaway IPA, American Brewing
A malty IPA with plenty of dry hopped flavor to balance the sweetness

Impress your bartender: Trickster IPA, Black Raven Brewing
A light fruit, citrus and piney hop aroma with a full hop flavor

PORTER
Don’t be afraid of the dark. Porter is a dark, rich and flavorful style of ale that is generally not as strong as it looks. The alcohol content is typically between 5.5 and 6 percent, putting it on par with many beers sporting a much lighter appearance. The use of darker grains, such as roasted barley and chocolate malt, lend porter its intimidating hue.

Expect to find: Profanity Hill Porter, Schooner Exact Brewing
Flavors of chocolate and walnuts, along with subtle fruity notes and a hint of cherry

Take it up a notch: Pacemaker Porter, Flyers Brewing
A robust porter with notes of roasted barley, coffee and bittersweet chocolate

Impress your bartender: Coal Creek Porter, Big Time Brewing
A light, malty porter with a slight sweetness and a higher alcohol content (6
percent)

Check out the rest of Ales (Hefeweizen, Stout, Amber Ale, and Winter Beer), Lagers, and Belgians over at the full article, and mix things up!
