I am a wife and Mom of 2 boys, living in NYC trying to make it work. Not a minimalist but a realist. I run Stylish Spaces, a full service luxury home organizing company.
I love that I get to work with all types of people to really help them reclaim their homes. Families are my favorite to work with because I understand the struggle of everyday life as a Mom and think it’s important to help people’s home support their life so they can spend time doing the things they love with the people they love. I am also here to let everyone know there is no such thing as perfect but there is such thing as simple and easy when it comes to organizing.
1) Keep a designated donation bin in your house, so as you find things you are ready to let go of, you can easily toss it in the bin and donate that bin once a month. – Works great for parents, as children are always growing out of clothes and toys.
2) I hate to say it but tidy up your apartment every night before bed. You will be amazed at the difference just 10 – 15 minutes makes.
3) Please don’t roll your eyes but kids really do like organization. Empower your kids by getting them involved. Have them help you clean up. When you have designated spaces for toys and their belongings, they can help clean up and will know where to find the things they want.
4) File folding. Anyone who has worked with me knows…. I love file folding. It’s easy to see all your clothes, great use of space and easy to maintain ( even for kids! )

Parents around the world know there is something magical about a new plush friend. The whimsical French toy line Les Déglingos, translated into English as “The Wackos” uses corduroy fabric to create a collection of beloved creatures. Now American families can find them at independent toy and specialty retail shops stateside thanks to importer TriAction Toys.
Big Simply Hippipos the Hippo in Tube is one of five animal characters that will soothe and enchant your little one. It may be hard to choose one among Flamingo, Ostrich, Tiger or Llama as each plush pal offers its own charm. One thing’s for certain, your child will cherish their new lovey from birth to freshman orientation.
“Les Déglingos was founded in early 2007 by Laurent Manceron in France,” explains TriAction Toys’ Chris Cofoni. “Laurent’s idea was to bring very innovative and funky designs to the market, steering away from the common pastel plush toys available at the time. He was the first designer to design plush using corduroy and the material’s success in the plush toy market has been imitated widely since.”
If you feel like you may have seen this toy before, it may be from one of its many cameo appearances on many movie sets and the TV series Modern Family.
This plush line is the perfect gift for baby showers, holidays and birthdays. The decorative “tube” packaging is just as appealing as the plush tucked inside. Artistic drawings of each animal face mimic their unique characters.
Les Déglingos are machine washable in cold/warm water and have no parts that present a choking hazard. Each product is tested to comply with European regulations (EN71), USA regulations (ASTM) and REACH (AZO for colorants in the fabrics).
Look for these five corduroy pals, each priced at $19.99 and for age newborn+, in specialty stores now.

24" x 36" Rectangular Decorative Mirror with Rounded Corners Brass
If you’ve got the kind of green thumb that makes most houseplants go extinct, we’ve got your solution right here! A small-scaled terrarium that’s home to dinosaurs! It’s easy to make, hard to kill and brought to you by horticulturist Katie Elzer-Peters. Read on to find out how toDIY a fairy-sized and kid-friendly version of Jurassic Park.
Supplies: Glass container (mason jar works)
Small low-light pants (i.e. table ferns, polka dot plants, Selaginella, Croton, Alternanthera, and Ficus plants)
Few cups of sterilized seedling mix or potting soil
Reindeer moss
Activated charcoal
Dinosaur figurines
Good to Know: Enclosed terrariums need a little light for the plants to grow and keep the water cycle going. Otherwise, plants will rot. If you can see condensation inside of the glass, then the terrarium is getting enough light. If the plants start to rot or become mushy, open the cover and let it dry out for a week or so. It may take a while to find the right balance of water for the terrarium to reach equilibrium.
Step by Step:
1. Fill the bottom of the container with ½ to 1 inch of rocks.
2. Pour activated charcoal on top of the rocks until the rocks are barely covered by the charcoal.
3. Add the potting mix on top of the charcoal. Start with 1 inch of potting mix. This doesn’t seem like much, but it is easier to start with a little, than it is to add more potting mix and dig holes.
4. Place the plants. If you’re using accessories, such as the dinosaur, you can set them in among the plants to gauge the effect see if you want to move the plants around prior to planting.
5. Remove plants from pots and plant them. The bottom of the plant root balls can be touching the rocks. Use a spoon to fill in with soil around the plants.
6. Add decorative mulches such as preserved reindeer moss or tumbled stones.
7. Position the accessories.
8. Water the terrarium. This is the trickiest step. It’s easy to overwater and then difficult to get the terrarium to dry out. Start by watering so that the top inch of soil (which might, in this case, be all of the soil) is about as damp as a wrung-out sponge. You can always add water.
9. Place the cover on the terrarium, set it in bright indirect light, and enjoy.
Even in such a small terrarium, you can make separate little scenes. Ideally, you’ll use accessories to make the terrarium interesting and inviting from all sides.

Sometimes you need to get crafty and creative without making a run to the store, and National Cereal Day is the perfect day to take advantage of what’s in your cupboard. From crispy fried chicken to science experiments, we’ve found 10 interesting ways you can amuse your kids with cereal. Scroll down to see how!
1. Make a Fruit Loop necklace. Fruit Loops are perfect because they are colorful, but you can just as easily use a Cheerio or other round-with-a-hole-in-it cereal. This is less about the cereal and more about the hand-eye coordination involved making them.
2. Snack Necklaces. Since you’ve got that string out, add cereal and a few pieces of dried fruit and make an on-the-go snack. We love this easy, boredom-busting activity from Blair Lonergan. Get the details at The Seasoned Mom.
3. Crunchy Baked Chicken Tenders with Cereal Flakes Cereal: it’s not just for breakfast anymore! This genius recipe from Jessica Gavin swaps out the traditional breadcrumbs for super crunchy Honey Bunches of Oats. Kids will go crazy for the golden-brown coating, and the zesty orange dipping sauce adds an extra punch of flavor. Click here to get the recipe.
4. DIY Surprises. Using Ziploc “snack sized” or smaller baggies, put little items in the cereal box to surprise the kiddos. It can be as simple as a note or a joke or a little trinket or plastic ring. Be sure and seal the bags well and watch little ones who might not know or notice.

5. Upcycle like the Royals. Keep that empty box around and make your kiddo a crown! Find out how Momtastic did it here.
6. Grow a cereal tree. This one is fall themed but you can use any kind of cereal to change the “seasons.”
7. Or a cereal treat! Nothing beats a gooey cereal treat. We love the Salted Honey Rice Krispie variation from Raspberri Cupcakes. Get the recipe here.
8. Go low. Transform a cereal box into a low-tech “TV” that plays a “film strip” with this tutorial by The Cheese Thief.
9. Perform some cereal science. Find out how “fortified with iron” your cereal actually is with this cool experiment from Rookie Parenting. Click here to get the scoop.
10. Feed the birds! String together a simple, low-sugar cereal (like Cheerios) with berries and make a decorative garland bird treat for an outdoor tree.
