The beloved children’s entertainer Raffi and Yo-Yo Ma celebrated 40 years of “Baby Beluga” earlier this month with a music video of the song. In it, Raffi adds a new verse to inspire his legions of “Beluga Grads” or adult fans. The video has been streamed more than 2 million times on various platforms.
On Jul. 31 Raffi and Yo-Yo Ma released the audio recording of this heartwarming performance. All profits from song downloads will benefit The Climate Mobilization, a grassroots group working to restore a safe climate, and which has contributed to more than 1,700 Climate Emergency Declarations around the world.
The song is now available to download from your favorite music retail site. Each download benefits The Climate Mobilization action group.
Raffi’s classic album, “Baby Beluga”, was released nearly 40 years ago. Millions of people grew up singing along to the words of the title song which follows a little white whale through his happy day. Raffi’s music has helped spark both a public appreciation of a threatened species and Raffi’s own climate activism.
To celebrate the anniversary of the song and album, Raffi sings “Baby Beluga” accompanied by cellist Yo-Yo Ma in a new video which was recorded in their own homes. This continues the series of recorded at-home musical offerings that Ma began in March. This unique performance includes a new verse for adults, ““Now you’re grown and you’re on your way, making waves in the boundless bay, with your shining light and your dreams alive, for the ones you’ve brought this way. Grown up beluga, grown up beluga…”
The video will also be available on the brand-new official Raffi You Tube channel, and the audio will be available as a digital single on all services later this month. Profits will benefit The Climate Mobilization, a grassroots group working to restore a safe planet, and which has contributed to more than 1700 Climate Emergency Declarations around the world.
Raffi also invites #BelugaGrads and children of all abilities to submit their drawings for an upcoming “Baby Beluga” music video. Sketches of belugas or anything else they find inspiring are welcome. Go to BabyBeluga40.com for more information about how to submit artwork.
The celebration continues with the first official Raffi store, offering a range of special bundles around the beloved little white whale. The collection includes the longtime best-selling Baby Beluga book from Knopf/Random House Children’s Book which was recently re-issued with a fresh, updated cover and is included in a boxed set with two other Raffi favorites, Wheels on the Bus and Down By The Bay. An award-winning “Baby Beluga” cooperative board game is also available, offering social-emotional learning, environmental education, plus lots of fun. Explore more albums, books, games, videos and free printables now through www.Raffistore.com.
Since 2015, Baby Beluga has been streamed more than 25 million times on Apple Music and Spotify, and more than two million copies of the album have been sold since the original release on Jul. 10, 1980. “I think that kids love how the song makes them feel,” Raffi says. “The song plants a seed of love in young children, love for a magnificent aquatic creature. What you love, you want to protect. So, love for a beluga is symbolic for a greater love of our world of wonders, our big beautiful planet.”
In direct response to the racial injustices impacting our country, KidNation, a new media platform for kids is sharing a timely message and music video entitled, Get Along. This new video teaches children the importance of love and inclusivity to instill acceptance and prevent racism before it even starts. The video debuted on the heels of KidNation’s inaugural Stay Clean sing-along video, which launched in May in response to the pandemic and rallied kids to wash their hands to avoid getting sick.
Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and entertainment attorney/ music executive Sandy Lal co-founded KidNation, which will officially launch later this year, as a vehicle to educate children through smart, yet cool content. Get Along offers another sneak peek from the company before its launch, and it continues to amplify KidNation’s mission to provide wholesome and high-quality entertainment for children everywhere. Over soft strings and guitar, the track locks into an unshakable melody before the uplifting and undeniable hook, urging for us all to simply Get Along.
“KidNation was built on the foundation of enrichment through entertainment for the next generation. With everything going on in this world, we felt extremely passionate about releasing “Get Along” early,” said Bridges. “The message is simple, but needed now more than ever. You tell your kids how important it is to lead with love. Somewhere along the way, we sometimes forget that. We’re going to let the kids remind you. Let’s Get Along.”
Audiences everywhere instantly fell in love with KidNation during the sneak peak of Stay Clean earlier this year, which highlighted the importance of hand washing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There’s too much division in the world,” added Co-Founder, Sandy Lal. “Kids see past our differences. They look beyond what we’re told separates us. They know how to get along, so let’s take a lesson from them.”
Sesame Street’s “People in Your Neighborhood” song just got a timely update. In a collaboration with Walgreens, the music video is all about celebrating local heroes and helpers in each of our communities.

The video is part of Sesame Street‘s ongoing Caring for Each Other initiative, where the goal is to assist children in celebrating the helpers in their neighborhoods. Some of the heroes featured include pharmacists, grocery stores employees and EMT’s.

Time outs aren’t just for kids. Actors, and completely comedic couple, Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde prove the point in their new “children’s music” video “Let’s Give Mommy a Time Out.”
Sudeikis recently premiered the clip during a recent guest hosting gig on The Ellen Show. The hilarious, and all too true, take on parenting got plenty of attention—racking up more than 100,000 views on YouTube already!
Even though they’re celebs, judging by the song (and video clip) Sudeikis and Wilde are kind of just like us when it comes to parenting. Wilde sings, with an overly exuberant sense of glee, “Let’s give mommy a time out. There’s no need to scream and shout.”
The actress/mama goes on to sing, “I haven;t had time to think. And mommy could really use a drink.” And, of course, it just gets better from there!
