If you spent many childhood nights wide-eyed after watching Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?, you’ll be excited to learn the show is making a comeback.

Nickelodeon has just announced an Are You Afraid of the Dark? reboot. The new show will be a limited series of three one-hour episodes, sure to be as terrifyingly exciting as the original. The new Midnight Society kids will share the tale about the Carnival of Doom, which will of course come to life.

The series will feature a sprawling cast of young stars including Gavin Sam Ashe Arnold (Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.), Miya Cech (Rim of the World), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl, The Worst Witch), Jeremy Taylor (It, Goosebumps 2:Haunted Halloween) and Lyliana Wray (Top Gun: Maverick, Black-ish).

The series is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in October. This was originally when Paramount planned to release the Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie in theaters, but the new premiere date is currently up in the air.

Get ready marshmallows, the wait is nearly over! Hulu’s revival of Veronica Mars has an official full-length trailer that has us wishing that Jul. 26 was here already.

Neptune’s intrepid gumshoe is heading back to the small screen in the new eight-episode season, where spring break is in full effect. When tourists end up dead, Mars Investigations is hired to unravel the mystery behind the killings. And the result? An action-packed trailer that we may have already watched several times.

The minute-long trailer gives us so much more than the previous 35-second teaser released last month. We see that Kristen Bell and her taser aren’t the only characters to make an appearance––Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, Patton Oswalt, and J.K. Simmons are also getting in on the action.

We can expect to see returning actors Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra and Ryan Hansen also head back to Neptune, but no word on whether gal pal Tina Majorino (who played Mac) will be joining the gang. Tune in to catch all eight episodes of the new show on Hulu on Jul. 26, 2019.

Emma and Noah are now the top baby names in the country. The Social Security Administration just released their list of the top 100 girl names and top 100 boy names in the US for 2014. So if you’re in need of some baby naming inspiration, read on to see how our country is trending and what names are getting used the most right now.

Noah is on the top of the list for boys for the second year in a row and Emma returns to the top for the first time since 2008. Both names are short, sweet and easy. Emma also may be in the number one spot due to the revival of Victorian-era names, a popular baby naming trend right now.

The Top Baby Names for Girls in 2014

Behind Emma, in the top ten for girls are the baby names Olivia, Sophia, Isabella, Ava, Mia, Emily, Abigail, Madison and Charlotte. We’re betting that Charlotte will skyrocket to the top (or close to it) over the next year or two since the royal princess baby just received that name.

Harper, Sofia, Avery, Elizabeth, Amelia, Evelyn, Ella, Chloe, Victoria and Aubrey rounded out the top 20 girl names of 2014.

The Top Baby Names for Boys in 2014

The top ten baby names for boys beyond Noah include Liam, Mason, Jacob, William, Ethan, Michael, Alexander, James and Daniel. James seems to be making a comeback. It hasn’t taken the number one spot since 1952, and it jumped from 13 to number 9 in the last year.

Elijah, Benjamin, Logan, Aiden, Jayden, Matthew, Jackson, David, Lucas and Joseph filled the spots from 11 to 20 for the top boys names.

Fastest-Rising Baby Names

The Social Security Administration also tracks trending baby names that made big jumps in popularity from 2013 to 2014. While these names aren’t the most popular names, they are gaining momentum.

For girls, Aranza (the name of a popular Mexican singer) jumped 3,625 spots on the list over the last year. Montserrat, Maisie, Karter, Thea, Jessa, Freya and Henley are also making waves in girls names.

For boys, Bode (possibly giving a node to Olympic skier Bode Miller) moved up 645 spots on the list. Axl is also making a quick jump to the top, possibly thanks to Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s son Axl Jack born in 2013. Gannon, Royal, Ronin, Finnley, Dash, Langston and Rowan and also skyrocketing toward the top.

Back when international exhibitions meant building a town within a town, the Palace of Fine Arts became one of 10 palaces at the 1915 Panama-Pacific World Exposition on the northern side of San Francisco. Built by the famous Californian architect Bernard Maybeck following ancient Greek and Roman designs, the palace offers a romantic outdoors promenade flanked by tall ionic columns of another time and a serene rotunda overlooking a lagoon that swans and ducks call home. Add to that a theater, and manicured paths, and you’ll understand why the Palace of Fine Arts is a beloved city escape for parents.

When to go: The Palace of Fine Arts is a fantastic place to hang out for an hour or more throughout the year, from sunrise to sunset.

How to get there: The Palace of Fine Arts Theater is located at3301 Lyon Street in San Francisco. For directions from different parts of the Bay Area, click here.

Where to park: Free parking is available along Palace Drive, Yacht Drive, and on Bay and Lyon streets but expect weekends to be crowded.

Public transportation: The Palace of Fine Arts is easily accessible by San Francisco Muni buses #30, #43, #28, and #29. Muni bus lines #22, #41, and #45 also stop in the vicinity. From Fisherman’s Wharf take the #30 Stockton bus. For more information, call Muni at 415-673-6864 or check the SFMTA trip planner.

What to bring and wear: A picnic is a nice addition to this artsy day. Pack up some food and drink and enjoy a day in the park with the kids. Because you’ll be going inside and out, you’ll want to bring layers to be prepared for all weather conditions. Snacks and a camera are also recommended.

What to do:

Run around: with its renovated paved paths and landscaped gardens, the Palace of Fine Arts offers an incredible setting for kids to shake their sillies out away from car and bike traffic. Expect would-be climbers to take the Greek revival columns for jungle gyms – though really, their beauty should inspire poetry more than physical prowess.

Picnic: the grassy lawns surrounding the lagoon are perfect picnic spots with a blow-your-mind view – and tumbling heaven.

Family photos: with its ancient ruin picturesque décor that still screams “only in San Francisco,” the Palace of Fine Arts is often chosen for formal or important photo shoots. Head there for your holiday cards this year. Your relatives across the country won’t believe it.

Theater: home to many ethnic dance festivals, the Palace of Fine Arts Theater showcases several child-friendly programs such as the Nutcracker ballet. Check their upcoming events for more details.

Lunch spots: restaurants are in short supply directly around the Palace of Fine Arts but there’s plenty to eat if you’re willing to walk a few blocks down. If the kids are dying for a treat (or say, you need some quiet time), head to Chestnut Street for smacking ice cream sandwich from Over the Moon.

Cost: Cost is completely dependent on the activities you do and day you wish to come. For a more economical day, stick to picnics, parks, and free-entry days.

Little Known Fact: as the rest of the Panama Pacific Exposition, the Palace of Fine Arts was built on 635 acres reclaimed from the San Francisco Bay. Yes you are walking on water and it doesn’t even show.

Whether for an hour or for a day, you’ll be surprised at how peaceful the Palace of Fine Arts can be despite its proximity from the bustling Marina and Crissy Field scene. Enjoy!
