With a booming fashion empire and uber-popular Instagram account that regularly peeks behind the scenes at her work and family, it was only a matter of time before LA designer and busy mom of two, Anine Bing, tackled her next challenge—launching the new Bing Kids clothing line for littles age 2-10. Totally effortless, super comfy and oozing rock n’ roll cool like we’ve never seen before, scroll through to see why we want to steal these pieces for ourselves.

The Inspiration

Since the debut of her own fashion brand in 2012, designer Anine Bing always dreamed of starting a kids’ line. Bing’s adorable kiddos, Benjamin (age 4) and Bianca (age 7) serve as her inspiration and have tried on many samples over the years.

Now, with the Anine Bing brand in such a great place (eight flagship stores worldwide), it finally felt like the perfect time to take the leap. Bing, says, “Ever since the launch of Anine Bing, I have wanted a kidswear line to go with it. As a consumer for my own family, I haven’t found the perfect basics with an edge for my kids, so I’m more than excited to be launching Bing Kids. The fact that my own kids, friends, and followers have been asking for this for years, makes it extra special.”

Signature Lewk

The collection is very much in line with the Anine Bing mother brand—which is exactly why you’ll want to raid your tyke’s closet stat. Pssst…we’ll never tell. Pieces include easy-cool basics that can take junior from park playdate to a nice family dinner at Cecconi’s. The most expensive piece of the collection, the to-die-for Motely Moto Jacket made of buttery soft leather is $399, but most pieces come in under $100 with t-shirts starting at $39 and adorable dresses at $69.

“In our family, my kids love to run around and get dirty at times, so this collection isn’t about being too precious or perfect. I really want to instill confidence and playfulness for any kid wearing the clothes,” says Bing.

The best part? All of the pieces are unisex with the exception of a dress or two. She adds, “I love the look of a pair of skinny jeans or leggings with a rock tee and an army jacket or flannel. It works great for both boys and girls.”

Family Counts

Anyone who follows Anine Bing on her Instagram knows how important family time is to her. Living in Los Feliz with her husband and two kids, Bing loves exploring LA just as much as relaxing at home. “As a family, we’re very easy. We love going to farmer’s markets on weekends, going up to Griffith Park for a hike, sitting around the table making pancakes on Sunday mornings. Sometimes, my daughter and I go for a little girl time and get manicures. We just love hanging around our new house together as a family or with friends and family over too. In the summer, my kids are always in the pool,” says Bing.

Where to Buy: Bing Kids is only available through the e-commerce site, not in stores. New styles will drop monthly, so check back regularly to purchase those must-have items first.

Extra, Extra: Each Bing Kids order includes an adorable set of stickers kids will go ga-ga for.

Outdoor lovers all over Portland are strapping their babies and toddlers into carriers and hitting the trails. Hikes are planned at easy enough distances and difficulty levels that anyone can participate, so beginners and experienced hikers alike are welcome (and that includes moms, dads, grandparents, friends, and dogs). Each hike is categorized according to the goal, so you’ll know whether older sibs will be leading the way, strollers are appropriate, or all babes will need to be in carriers. The hikes are free but a waiver must be signed online before you show up, so browse the website to see how it works before heading out.

Parenting fact 101: once baby exits the womb, life is forever changed. Instantly, conversations about your baby’s bowel movements are the new norm, yoga pants are life and date nights are never quite the same again (partially because of conversations about baby poo and yoga pants). Read on to see some commonly, funny ways date night goes down differently once baby makes three.

Photo: Jacob Brown Photography via Flickr

Date night before baby: You decide at 6 p.m. to grab drinks at 7 p.m.

Date night after baby: Exiting the house on a whim with just the two of you? Yeah, that’s illegal. Expect at least two weeks of advance planning to coordinate your escape. Finding reliable childcare isn’t for the faint of heart. And, if the sitter cancels at the last minute? Family date night it is.

Date night before baby: You pulled out your phone without abandon to post up pics on your Instagram.

Date night after baby: Forget selfies. Stealthily glancing under the table every five minutes to see if there is a text from the sitter or to open the handy-but-kinda-creepy nanny-cam app is your new obsession.

Date night before baby: Netflix and chill.

Date night after baby: “Netflix and chill” is literally Netflix and chill, with baby, hopefully sleeping.

Date night before baby: You spent a leisurely hour or two showering, shaving and blowing your hair out to perfection.

Date night after baby: You can go from hot mess to hot mama in under five minutes flat. (Hello, topknot!) So what if your last shower happened last week and Cousin It is hiding out under your skinny jeans.

Date night before baby: Your date night budget is spent on your date.

Date night after baby: Your date night budget is your sitter’s college fund.

Photo credit: mt 23 via Flickr

Date night before baby: Leaving your house is as simple as locking your door on the way out.

Date night after baby: Go over the written checklist detailing every possible emergency scenario (and respective instructions) with the sitter one. more. time. Then, do it again. Tear up as your partner puts the car into drive, seriously think about cancelling, then blurt out a rational thought like: “Let’s just take baby with us. Babies love five-course meals!”

Photo credit: Ambernectar 13 via Flickr

Date night before baby: You connect over intellectually stimulating topics like the meaning of life.

Date night after baby: You try not to talk about baby. Then, you fail. You agree to only discuss the most sophisticated aspects of parenting—like how cute baby is when she blows spit bubbles or sucks on her toes.

Date night before baby: It ain’t no thang to stay out ’til last call.

Date night after baby: You rush to get home by 10. Then, you’re up ’til 2 a.m. anyway. It’s baby’s turn to belly up to the (milk) bar.

Reason # 1, 863,067 that we love living in LA: anything goes, and that goes double for fashion. Stylish Yet So Simple
Daphne is rocking the oh-so-comfy Drapey Pant in peach with the cool sailor-ready blue Linen-Blend Stripe Top, and is ready to take on the world (#LikeAGirl) in an outfit that she can climb and tumble in as well as looking runway ready.

Travel Town, Here He Comes
Wear what you love! If he loves choo-choos, he’ll be happy to get dressed in this Train Graphic tee that Jack is sporting. With Pin Striped Painter’s shorts just long enough to protect little knees and kicks made for climbing, he’s ready to take over Travel Town—or any town!

Footloose and Fancy Floral
Vogue tells us this spring is all about the floral print, so Elena is right on trend, yet set to stroll the Strand by the sand in her casual but comfortable and chic Floral Sleeveless Top. With the cross-pattern blouse, keeping it simple with matching navy Poplin Shorts is the perfect call.

We Wish They All Could Be California Boys
Fashion, smashion. He couldn’t care less. Luckily, in LA jeans are welcome anywhere, so Jamie can wear his fashionable yet functional Boys Skinny Jeans to Little League in the morning, to a birthday party in the afternoon and even throw on a blazer for a family celebration dinner at Spago. And the soft Heathered Gray t-shirt is a classic neutral that lets him feel rough and tumble but look casually chic.

Ever wonder what Jacqui Boland, Red Tricycle’s founder and CEO, considers her can’t-live-without kids styles and gear? Well, now’s your chance to get to know Jacqui as she reveals her fave cool things from hard-working outdoor gear that makes it fun to play in the rain to cool new must-try toys to kids clothes with an utterly playful design. If you know Jacqui, having fun with her six-year old son, Jamie is serious business in the Boland household and her picks definitely reflect that worldview. Read on as Jacqui dishes to our friends at Tada! her can’t-live-without list.

1. Being warm is a must for having fun in the snow. Polarn O. Pyret makes excellent high-performance all-weather gear, like these snowpants.

2. What better way to ensure happy dreams than with these dreamy striped, bicycle pajamas. Jamie loves the softness of Tea Collection pajamas.

3. A waterproof jacket is a must for Bay-Area living. This J.Crew version is super stylish. Bonus points for being reversible (bright yellow side is perfect for wet foggy days).

4. A fleece-lined hat that covers the ears is perfect for snow play. The pirate design appeals to a six-year-old aesthetic.

5. J.Crew comes through again with multi-functional, stylish kids gear that works for rain or snow.

7. Skinny kid=skinny jeans. Mini Boden does a great job of making soft kids jeans that my son actually likes to wear.

8. Rollnecks are so much easier than turtlenecks for six year olds to put on.

9. Our mini-jetsetter (who already has premier-executive status) definitely needs his own pint-sized headphones. The white makes them easier to spot at the end of a long flight.

Printed pants are on trend this season coming in all shapes and sizes.  Skinny jeans, harem pants, trousers or anything in between – you’ll be seeing a lot of fun prints in  stores.

How do you wear them, do you ask? It’s simple, even for the most non-fashionista mom. Don’t worry, you can find these cool pants at every price point so you don’t have to break the bank!

Leslie Newton, founder of timi & leslie diaper bags, created her company in 1999 when she realized there was a huge void in the marketplace for stylish, functional diaper bags. Besides creating fashionable diaper bags, Leslie loves doing crafts with her 4 year old daughter, and going on lots of family outings. Leslie loves anything vintage or mid-century modern – clothes, furniture, jewelry, fabric – all which have a big influence on the timi & leslie aesthetic.

We totally fell in love with Fynn with his platinum blonde hair and really funky style. According to Fynn’s mom, her little tyke mostly wears his red Chucks, which has been his go-to kicks since he was a baby. with so many outgrown pairs of shows, it gives Fynn’s family a cool display later on in life as they shelf all the different sizes of his red Chucks.

Fynn’s “Super Fynn” outfit is his favorite. He runs through the house pretending to fly, but little does he know, Fynn’s parents already thought of him as “Super Fynn”, even without the cape.

Like our other stylish tots, Fynn likes dressing smart. After getting dressed, he always walks over to his papa and says “look at me!” with the biggest smile on his face.

Seattle in the winter is wet and cold, crisp and windy, with brief moments where the sun breaks through the clouds. How do you keep looking good under all of those coats, hoods, and umbrellas? The art of layering, explained by the lovely and always fashionable Seattle Magazine, can keep you warm and stylish. Date Night never looked so good while being so very comfortable.

Club Monaco manager Sean Frazier creates dapper, preppy appeal with Northwest-ready layering pieces.

WHY WE LOVE THE LOOK:
When in doubt, put on another layer. That is style dogma according to Frazier, who layers (multiple) timeless, classic men’s silhouettes at a time to suit life in all-over-the-map Northwest temps.

“I’m drawn to anything I see that has the potential to go over, under, around or with other pieces, like long, elegant scarves or a cotton blazer worn as a jacket,” the Capitol Hill resident says. The result is gentlemanly with an added ounce of the debonair, pulling in hip-again pocket squares and ’60s-esque eye bobs. Or, the long and lanky style blogger often rolls up his favorite skinny jeans above the ankle to show off a pair of mod striped socks.

THE ENSEMBLE:
Gray and navy cotton striped T-shirt, by and from AllSaints Spitalfields; gray cable-knit button-up sweater, navy cotton blazer and tan wool/cashmere scarf, all by and from Club Monaco; The Hill-side black polka-dot pocket square, thehill-side.com; Hazelwood dark skinny jeans, Blackbird; striped black and white socks, J.Crew; vintage Allen Edmonds lace-up Oxford shoes, a Brooklyn find; brown tortoiseshell eye bobs, Blackbird.
