While you can count on trends like movies and TV shows to inspire baby names, every year there are a handful of names that seem to become the most popular moniker on the playground. For 2019 there are some surprising new names topping the most popular baby name list.

Nameberry has just released its annual list of the most popular baby names and there are some newbies at the top. For girls the number one name of the year is Isla, a name that has been popular for a few years and in the Top Five, but this is the first year it has hit number one.
