The Twits
The latest story from Roald Dahl to receive the screen treatment, The Twits is about two nasty pieces of work who meet their match in a pair of brave orphans and their magical animals. The original book is filled with vivid descriptions and illustrations—Mr. Twit’s beard “grew in spikes that stuck out straight like the bristles of a nail brush”—here’s hoping the animation is just as visceral.

The Sea Beast 2
One of the best movies to hit the streaming platform in 2022, The Sea Beast unfortunately didn’t reach nearly the audience it should have. The swashbuckling adventure is actually an incredibly thoughtful and layered tale about a little girl who stows away on a ship to learn the truth about the titular misunderstood aquatic creatures. The plot remains a mystery for the sequel, but the world is Maisie’s oyster and we can’t wait for her to open it again.

Leo 2
Netflix’s long-term, multi-picture deal with Adam Sandler has proved to be a winning handshake between the two, thanks in part to surprise hits like this animated gem from 2023 about an aging classroom lizard who saves his pupil pals from a wretched substitute teacher. Streaming fans loved the film so much that Netflix’s boss man, Ted Sarandos, all but confirmed a sequel. Rumor has it that the follow-up will premiere sometime this year.
Starring: Adam Sandler, with more to come.

Enola Holmes 3
2025 is shaping up to be another banner year for Millie Bobby Brown. With The Electric State and the fifth and final season of Stranger Things hitting Netflix this year, plus the bookend to the Enola Holmes trilogy possibly releasing this year, the woman is unstoppable. In the first two Enola films, Brown finds her bearings as Sherlock’s sister and a sleuth in her own right. We imagine the third film will see her coming into her own even more.
Starring: Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter.
