One of the best things about being a parent in NYC is the dizzying number of options of all things kid-related. This is never more true than when it comes to “Mommy & Me” classes. Even if the idea of sitting around in a circle and singing with other parents and kids makes you cringe (you’re not alone, by the way), there is a class out there you will actually enjoy. (Your kid?: They’ll love it.) We’ve rounded up more than a dozen classes to take with your tot, from tummy time to sign language to all kinds of music to get you and the kid movin’ and groovin’. (Daddies are of course welcome, too.) Click on through to find your perfect match!

For Newborn Classes: The JCC

At the JCC Manhattan on the Upper West Side, you'll find a plethora of classes for brand new mamas, such as New Parents, New Baby, ( a meet-and-greet) and Mother + Baby Yoga. In a course called Tummy Time — a drop-in course generally held once a week throughout the summer and fall — tummy time is made fun for both mom and baby. Through songs, nursery rhymes and specific exercises designed to strengthen baby's muscles while providing mental stimulation, moms and caregivers will help their baby reach important milestones in a playful, casual atmosphere. This is a perfect first movement class for a new baby; Instructor “Miss Maria” blends music and movement to help babies reach developmental milestones.

Be in the Know: JCC mommy&me classes are popular for meeting other local moms and babies.

Ages: Newborn (up to 3-4 months)

Location: 334 Amsterdam Ave. (Between 75th and 76th)

Cost: $15 per class, for both JCC members and non-members; check calendar for next class, usually held weekly.

Online: jccmanhattan.org
