We came, we saw and we conquered the holiday market at Union Square. Our mission was to find the best shops and cutest handmade goodies that no-one else will have spotted. As an added bonus, you’ll get that good feeling of knowing you shopped local and helped a small business owner to grow their business just that much bigger. So, skip the big box stores and check out the market before it ends on December 24th.

Friendly Animal Buddies
Nhócchi was started by husband and wife team Nancy Dinh and Jamie Williams. Their hand puppets, finger puppets and soft toys are handmade out of fabric traditionally woven by ethnic communities in Asia, in beautiful, bright colors. Added educational bonus: The animals come with fact tags, sharing trivia about that animal like an elephant's trunk "can grow to 7 feet long and weigh up to 300 lbs." Our store pick: the zippered elephant bags in small and large size are a huge hit with the toddler and preschool crowds.

Nhocchi
Finger puppets $5, small zippered elephant pouches $20, hand puppets $25, backpacks $40.
