Ah, New York. So full of creative types — including, it turns out, your kid! If you’ve got a little one more interested in sewing than soccer, pumped for origami not overnights, or way into weaving instead of water sports, check out these summer camps for all kinds of artisans. With the right planning, June, July and August will each offer their own handmade project experience and by the time September rolls around, you’ll have a school year’s worth of unique birthday presents in your closet! For the Builder: ConstructionKids

At ConstructionKids' Summer Camps, counselors teach safe, appropriate tool usage, along with drawing, painting, and creative play to help kids collaborate on dynamic, large-scale projects. Campers also get the chance to work on smaller individual projects that fit the week’s theme. And kids don’t just build things, they build confidence by designing, making, repairing, and revising cool structures and working with others. Each week features something new and best of all, ConstructionKids offers many camp locations so there’s sure to be one near you.
