Join docent botanist Bryce Stauble and learn to identify many of Waddell Valley’s plants within Rancho del Oso’s seven diverse habitats. Observe the monthly change of the ecosystems. Each walk is unique as blooming flowers and pollinators are constantly in flux! This walk takes a leisurely pace that is great for learning the native habitat we are experiencing. Bring lunch, questions and curiosity!

Enjoy gardening, crafting and learning together in the Youth Garden. Spend time with your children while exploring the garden, learning about healthy lifestyle choices and discovering the exciting processes of the natural world—not to mention making new friends. This is a unique opportunity to get your hands dirty and become better stewards of the environment as a family.

All children ages 3-8 and their families are invited to participate in this lively and interactive monthly story time. Children with varying learning styles and abilities learn together in a safe and supportive environment where respect and appreciation for differences is encouraged.

Stop by the Environmental Education Center Nature Museum at McClellan Ranch Preserve for an up-close experience with the resident animals and nature exhibits. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you meet the animals and learn a bit about them.

Witness archaeology in action! Presidio archaeologists are working on a long-term research project to excavate El Presidio de San Francisco, the Spanish colonial site buried just below the ground in front of the Presidio Officers’ Club. Stop by to check out their recent discoveries and ask questions.
