MCD’s partner Mission Bay Library will also join the fun and introduce the “Summer Strides” reading program. Be sure to get here early for the FREE book giveaway.

Start your summer weekends off right at the Rancho Bernardo Winery. Every Friday night during the summer, head to the winery for art, wine, music, food and shopping in the Winery Village. Need another excuse to drop by in July? Starting Friday, July 13th (through Sunday the 15th), Shoreline Lake will be helping Francophiles commemorate the French National Day. The American Bistro will be featuring new additions to the “usual” lineup of house-made, real French pastries, confections and savory treats: Look for additional sweets such as éclairs, cream puffs, and an assortment of French macarons, as well as savories like croque-monsieur, Classic French onion soup, and a tartine sandwich.

Enjoy the best view of the Fireworks Show, from the waters of Shoreline Lake! The Boathouse provides to Park visitors the most unique way in the Park (and the rest of Mountain View) to enjoy the fireworks—from a pedalboat, rowboat, canoe or single/double kayak in the middle of the Lake, with friends and family.

The Bite of Broadview (BOB) offers a weekend filled with mouth-watering food and entertainment including carnival rides, live music, a beer and wine garden, marketplace booths, a fab Kids’ Zone, car show, marketplace booths and much more.

Festival organizers of the GI Film Festival San Diego have selected the 2018 Marvel Studios’ blockbuster film “Black Panther” for Family Movie Night aboard the USS Midway Museum. Guests can begin boarding for their journey to Wakanda at 6:30 p.m. and the film starts at 7:45 p.m. This year, the Family Movie Night takes place in advance of the GI Film Festival San Diego, Sept. 25-30, 2018. The annual event celebrates military-connected families and provides a fun evening out to celebrate the unofficial end of summer. Pre-show activities will take place in the museum’s hanger bay and will include music, red carpet photo opportunities, resource tables and giveaways from military-connected organizations and more. Concessions will be available for purchase. Festival organizers are working with partner organizations to provide complimentary tickets to local military families.

Guests are encouraged to bring school supply donations. For the first time, the GI Film Festival San Diego will conduct a back-to-school drive in collaboration with SAY San Diego at the Family Movie Night event. Attendees are encouraged to be a hero and bring donations that will set military youth up for academic success. Suggested donations for the coming school year include new items and essentials like pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, and more. A complete list is available on the GI Film Festival San Diego website. All supplies donated at the event will go to local military-connected students and schools in need. Guests who bring a donated item will receive a voucher for complimentary popcorn.
