For your colleagues, teachers and neighbors who you want to show your appreciation for without spending a pretty penny, here’s a simple fun gift idea–paperwhite bulbs in a mason jar. Originally spotted at domaphile, we recently made these cool gifts and were thrilled with the results. Read on to find out how to make your own. What You’ll Need: paperwhite bulbs (any local nursery will sell these. Ours cost $1 per bulb) mason jars rocks, stones, pebbles or gems ribbon or raffia to tie around the finished product Steps: 1. Fill each mason jar 3/4 full with stones, rocks or gems. 2. Add the bulb and secure the round lid around the bulb to keep it in place. 3. Wrap ribbon or raffia around the jar and instruct the recipient to add water so it goes up to the bottom of the bulb. Good to Know: paperwhite bulbs are perfect for this project because they don’t require chilling or even soil in order to grow. “Like” this story if you plan to make paperwhite bulbs in mason jars this year!
