A local favorite since 2006, Theo Chocolate is the first organic and fair-trade bean-to-bar chocolate factory in North America, and their pride is evident during their fun and informative tours. Theo offers a variety of tour options, from their Standard Tours for ages 6 and up (where each visitor gets to taste a variety of Theo chocolate bars and a few specialty items like caramels, clusters and hand-rolled ganache truffles), to their Birthday Party Package for kids ages 5-12 and their weekly Chocolate Story Time designed for younger kids ages 4-7. It’s always fun and chocolate on a Theo tour!
Don't Miss: The gift shop on your way out—peruse the variety of chocolate bars and treats they offer, many of which you can’t get at your local grocery store. The Congo Vanilla Nib Dark Chocolate bar is our favorite, and it also supports the Eastern Congo Initiative and Congolese cocoa farmers. A win-win!
We Suggest: Don’t bring the littler Littles on the Standard Tour—ideally tours are for kids ages 6 and up, unless you book a Birthday Party or attend a Story Time event. And make sure to wear closed toe shoes and leave behind your fragrances, faux fur and feathers. None are permitted on the tours.
Cost: Standard Tour: $10/person; Birthday Party Tour: $275 regardless of group size; Chocolate Story Time: $8/person.
Details: Standard Tours are one hour long and take place daily from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended by calling 206-632-5100 or booking via their website. Due to factory regulations, strollers are not permitted on the tour. Advance payment is required for parties of 6 or more.
Good to Know: While Theo does offer tours on Saturdays and Sundays, the factory is not typically in production on weekends.
