But if you’ve done the local playground circuit enough your smartphone thinks you work at the neighborhood tot lot, maybe it’s time to branch out into new territory. From medieval castles, to nautical play structures, to seaside swings and lakefront lunch spots, click through the gallery to see the best playgrounds the South Sound has to offer.

Wright Park

If you’ve spent the morning trekking through downtown or hanging out at Museum Row in Tacoma, you’ll want to head over to this urban green-space for a shady place to cool off and have picnic. This stunning arboretum offers a vast amount of room for outdoor exploring or a free-range game of hide-n-seek among its 600 plus trees. There’s a mile-long walking path that loops the park, a duck pond and a botanical conservatory that’s open to the public. At the playground, there are swings, slides, a merry-go-round and sprayground during the summer.

Good to Know: There isn’t a parking lot, but streets surrounding the park have spaces available that are free of charge.
