Seattle and its environs have a wide variety of world-class international cuisine to tempt Junior’s tastebuds and satisfy your own. We’ve highlighted our favorites and the best from Red Tricycle readers to bring the world to your plate (and your palate) without needing to venture far from the Emerald City. Bon Appetit! Chinese/Dim Sum: House of Hong, International District www.houseofhong.com High Chairs: yes Changing Tables: no This bustling family restaurant in the heart of the International District is a big hit with our families. Serving a variety of Chinese, Szechwan and Hunan dishes, House of Hong can easily please groups with different cravings. Dim sum is all the rage with Red Tricycle children; the ability to pick and choose keeps kids’ minds occupied and their tummies full. Our readers recommend the broccoli rabe and shrimp toast; family style dinners are also available if you’re taking a big group. There is parking validation for a lot under the freeway if the attached parking lot is full; just ask at the counter. Bonus: Inspired by the food you’ve just eaten? Stop by Seattle’s premier Asian superstore, Uwajimaya Village (www.uwajimaya.com; 600 5th Ave. S) after lunch or dinner and buy ingredients to make the dishes at home, or just have fun browsing the cornucopia of delights on display here. House of Hong 409 Eighth Ave. S, Seattle 206.622.7997 Monday – Saturday: 9:00 am – 2:00 am, Sunday: 9:00 am to midnight Dim Sum from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm daily Japanese/Sushi: Blue C Sushi, Fremont & University District www.bluecsushi.com High chairs: yes, in both restaurants Changing table: yes, in the women’s bathroom in both restaurants Several readers raved about these funky, fun sushi restaurants. The conveyor-belt sushi here means that there’s no waiting time between choosing your food and eating it—perfect for little people with big appetites. Kids love selecting their own single portions, with favorites including the California rolls, fresh fruit cups and plain tofu in sauce. Better yet, there’s virtually no waste because once they’re full, they can stop. You, on the other hand, can stack plates to your heart’s content. Bonus: Free parking (and lots of it) at the University Village location; validated parking in a lot below the Fremont location (take 24th to Evanston and turn right into the alley). Your mini sushi fans can burn off their food at the University Village play area located alongside Barnes and Noble whilst you let your meal digest.
