For most moms, Mother’s Day typically includes a home cooked meal by dad and the kids (or if you’re lucky, by your fave restaurant), a little bit of pampering and handmade gifts made by your kids. 1. Mother's Day Celebration with FIT4MOM West Seattle

Whether you are a mama-to-be, a new mama or your Littles aren't so little anymore, FIT4MOM West Seattle has something for you this Mother's Day. On May 4, enjoy a free Prenatal (Fit4Baby) class and learn more about this amazing program that is changing lives all over West Seattle. Then, on May 10 enjoy a free Stroller Strides class and on May 11, enjoy a HIIT (Body Back) class followed by Fun Run (Run Club). Psst! 2. Half-Price Mom's Day at the Zoo

The always-awesome Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium will be celebrating Mother’s Day with half-price admission for all mamas and come to think of it…grandmas, too! In addition to saving money at the gate, you can meet the Zoo's animals, feed colorful birds in the open air Budgie Buddies exhibit, touch underwater creatures, enjoy keeper talks, get an up-close encounter with a camel, climb and explore in the Kids Zone playground and catch a Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater show.

3. MOHAI Mother’s Day Pop-Up Shop

Kick off Mother’s Day on Sat., May 11 at MOHAI. Spend the morning shopping for local gifts and goods at the MOHAI Mercantile's (formerly the MOHAI Store) third annual Pop-Up Shop. This year's shop will feature a variety of unique gifts and goods from local artists and designers as well as mimosas and treats.

4. Mother’s Day Train Rides

Want to satisfy your lil' train fanatic and yourself? Try this annual Mother’s Day’s tradition aboard an antique train. In addition to a 70-minute scenic journey between Snoqualmie and North Bend, you can browse the Victorian depot and the awesome train books in the bookstore and explore the cute town of Snoqualmie. Bonus: All moms ride for free with a paying child of any age!

5. The 11th Annual Pike Place Market Flower Festival

Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend with a trip to Pike Place Market to buy flowers for your fave moms, in-laws, sisters and grandmas. With nearly 40 tents filled with beautiful bouquets, you’re bound to find the perfect arrangement to brighten any mom’s weekend. In addition to flowers, shop for floral-themed handcrafted gifts—from glass art to yard art—made by local artists. The tents will be up on Sat. & Sun. along the west side of the cobblestone street.

6. Seattle Maritime Festival Family Fun Day

Want to learn to pilot a tugboat or a ferry boat over Mother's Day Weekend? How about take a free Argosy Ship Canal Tour? Or try your hand at welding or boat building? You can do all that and experience maritime at Seattle’s largest maritime industry celebration on Sat., May 11. The Seattle Maritime Festival Family Fun Day at Ballard’s Seattle Maritime Academy will feature 30 free maritime activities, music on the Port of Seattle entertainment stage, Argosy Ship canal tours, food trucks, fire boat tours, a photo booth and other events. It's the perfect Mother's Day activity for all your little mateys!

7. Mother’s Day Cruise & Brunch on Blake Island

Looking to change up your brunch plans this year? Consider celebrating Mother's Day with a cruise to Blake Island and brunch in the island's beautiful longhouse building. This year's feast will feature brioche French toast, Tillicum’s famous alder wood fire roasted fish and a champagne (or apple cider) toast to all the mothers. Following brunch, everyone is invited to explore the beaches and trails on the island and enjoy a variety of Tillicum cultural activities and craft tables.

8. Mother’s Day at the Bellevue Botanical Garden

This Mother’s Day, treat mom to a delightful afternoon at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. At this annual event, families can enjoy live music, posy-making, Plein Air artists, ballroom dancing demonstrations and docent-led tours of the 53-acre garden. Families will also have the opportunity to speak with members of the Washington Native Plant Society and enjoy refreshments at Copper Kettle Coffee Bar and shopping at Trillium Store. Psst...be sure to check out the Native Discovery Garden’s new entry path, increased accessibility and updated signage, new benches and planters and hundreds of newly planted natives.

9. Mother's Day at the Aquarium

Celebrate moms of all types (animal and human) at the Seattle Aquarium. This annual Mother’s Day event will include diver shows, special exhibits, story times, hands-on activities and more. Bonus: Free parking will be available to all guests visiting the Seattle Aquarium. Simply pick up a free parking voucher good for (4) hours at select waterfront garages from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Psst...aquarium members can also take advantage of early entrance at 9 a.m. and a special gift for moms.

10. Mother's Day at the Cedar River Watershed Education Center 

Mark your calendars for this annual event designed to celebrate all the mothers in our lives, as well as in the Cedar River Watershed. Bring the entire fam and enjoy tea, coffee and snacks while strolling the grounds of the Education Center and savoring the spectacular views of Rattlesnake Ledge. Along the way, discover fun tidbits about moms–both human and wild–who have raised their families in the watershed.

11. Free Admission for Moms at The Museum of Flight

Satisfy your little aviation buff and yourself at The Museum of Flight this Mother's Day. On May 12, the Museum will be celebrating moms by offering free admission to all moms accompanied by their kids (of any age) along with special workshop activities in their Weekend Family Workshop: Our Marvelous Moms! Psst...this is a great opportunity to check out the new Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission exhibit on display through September.

12. Bonsai Fest

Head to the Pacific Bonsai Museum over Mother’s Day Weekend for the second annual Bonsai Fest! May is "peak-bloom" time for azaleas and other flowering bonsai. See dozens of stellar bonsai, watch demonstrations of how bonsai are made and view special exhibits that illustrate bonsai design principles that will give you a deeper appreciation of bonsai as stunning works of living art. Psst...festive food trucks will also be on site and kids can make a card for mom at the art station.
