“Welcome back forever, #MexicanPizza”

It’s Sept. 15 and that can only mean one thing: the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza is back! Not only is the cult-classic menu item here for good this time, it’s coming back with a splash––in the form of a musical.

Mexican Pizza: The Musical is dropping today at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST on Taco Bell’s official TikTok. According to Taco Bell, “the off-off Broadway production is made for Mexican Pizza fans, by Mexican Pizza fans featuring music from Grammy award-winning songwriting duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear and the voice of Dolly Parton.” Yes, THAT Dolly Parton.

The return of the Mexican Pizza brings back many a memory, both from our youth and the last two years. First, the item that had been on Taco Bell’s menu since 1985 was basically cancelled like everything else during the pandemic. Then, a Change.org petition and the help of Doja Cat brought the pizza back in early 2022, only to sell out of its six-month stash in a terrible (supply) chain of events.

But that wasn’t the end of the Mexican pizza if fans had anything to say about it. “It’s going to be relaunched mid-September and it’s going to be a permanent item,” Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell shared with Fortune back in July 2021. “I had more feedback—hate mail!—over the removal of Mexican pizza [than any other time].”

“Our menu is full of fan-favorites, but the Mexican Pizza is at the top of that list,” King said in a Taco Bell press release “I’m glad we could give fans what they crave and bring our classic Mexican Pizza back home where it belongs.”

The Mexican Pizza of today is the same your tastebuds remember. It’s made with the same recipe that uses seasoned beef and refried beans between two fried flour tortillas, pizza sauce, three-cheese blend and diced tomatoes.

You can order them in-store and also order exclusively from Uber Eats and Postmates from Sept. 15-21. Earn a free Mexican Pizza from Uber Eats and Postmates with a $20 minimum order. As of Sept. 22, grab your Mexican Pizzas from DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates and Grubhub.
