A full-length trailer for The Marvels is here, and it’s giving ‘Freaky Friday’ in space

Brie Larson is back, and this time, she has plenty of backup. The sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel is coming, and we’re getting our first look at Larson alongside her fellow female MCU stars—Teyonah Parris from WandaVision and Iman Vellani from Ms. Marvel—in the first full-length trailer for The Marvels.

This story is set right after Ms. Marvel, the Disney+ series that introduced Kamala Khan, the young new superhero from New Jersey. It also picks up where we left off with Carol Danvers, the star of Captain Marvel, and brings together a third, equally beloved MCU character: Captain Monica Rambeau from WandaVision. This one isn’t for casual fans who can’t keep their characters straight, because the trailer reveals the trio of heroes switching places in different points in the space continuum, all while Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) tries to corral them together to harness their collective power.

According to Marvel Studios, “Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.”

In addition to having the first all-female trio of Marvel stars, The Marvels is directed by Nia DaCosta, the first Black woman to direct a film in the MCU. DaCosta also co-wrote the screenplay for The Marvels, alongside Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells.

Originally slated for a release this summer, The Marvels was slightly delayed and now will hit theaters nationwide on Nov. 10.
