These Are 2019’s Hottest Vacation Rentals for Families, So Book ’Em Now

When it comes to vacation rentals for families, super-sizing is the hot trend for 2019! According to HomeAway’s 2019 Trend Report, vacation rental demand is up 325 percent for families with kiddos. Even though you might think that parents are picking super-sunny destinations with beach-lined villas, HomeAway’s fastest growing destination might just surprise you. Scratch that. It will surprise you.

So which vacation destination is experiencing the most in-demand growth? The top honors go to The Hocking Hills in Ohio! With an 130 percent jump in demand over the past year and a 375 percent demand growth rate over the last three years, The Hocking Hills (which is southeast of Columbus) is the new family getaway hotness.

While The Hocking Hills is an up-and-comer, there are plenty of other hot picks for family travelers. According to HomeAway, the top five U.S. vacation rental destinations include:

1. Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
2. Gulf Shores, Alabama
3. Panama City Beach, Florida
4. Miramar & Rosemary Beach, Florida
5. Maui, Hawaii

According to Melanie Fish, HomeAway travel expert. “For one, more than three quarters of these newly independently vacationing Gen Z’ers have already stayed in a vacation home, cabin or condo at some point in their lives, making them far likelier than their parents to consider vacation rentals a primary lodging option as they continue to mature.”

Whether you’re all in for a mid-west vacay or looking for a beach-side trip, it looks like renting a place to stay is more popular than booking a traditional hotel.
