You’d think that Bill Hader, the Saturday Night Live vet known for his turn as club promoter Stefon on Weekend Update, would be hard to prank. But luckily for his daughter, who recently embarrassed him in front of Chris Pratt in an epically awkward encounter, he’s got a pretty good sense of humor. He described the “solid burn” by his daughter on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

According to Hader, he and his three daughters with ex-wife Maggie Carie were eating dinner at a restaurant when he spotted Chris Pratt. “I go, ‘guys, don’t freak out, but… Guardians of the Galaxy.’” After some hushed excitement from his daughters, his (now) 9-year-old said, “I know his son… Can I go say hi?”

After he initially refused, his daughter begged him to reconsider. “So we walk over there, I tap him on the shoulder… and I go “Hey Chris, I’m sorry, but my daughter knows your son.” To which Hader’s daughter said, emphatically, “I don’t know his son! YOU wanted to meet Chris Pratt!”

Record. Scratch. “And then my daughters descend on his wife and are like, ‘Are you a princess?’ and are like touching her face,” while Hader and Pratt awkwardly looked at one another. When they left, Hader asked his daughter why in the world she did it. Her reply was classic tween: “I don’t know!” He admitted he was actually pretty proud.

The actor, who is currently promoting his HBO hit Barry, about a well-mannered serial killer, knows it won’t be the last time his daughters crack jokes at his expense. He described driving in the car with them through LA, where his face can be found on promotional billboards for his show. He told Kimmel, “I always know when a bus will pull up with my face on the side of it because they all go, ‘Eeeewww. Groooooossss. That guy suuuuucks.'” From the mouths of babes.
