Frequently asked questions

Tinybeans is a much-loved parenting app that lets you privately share moments and memories with your chosen inner circle and revisit them forever.

General

Tinybeans is a private family photo-sharing app that turns everyday moments into memories. Think of us as a journal, visual diary, and time capsule that allows parents to capture and share their favorite snapshots and videos with the people who matter most.

You do, of course! Please check out our Terms and Conditions for more details, but rest assured that the only people who will ever see your photos and videos are your trusted friends and family. We will never use your photos in any way without your permission.

Tinybeans is completely private. The photos and videos you upload can only be viewed by the family and friends you invite to view them. As parents, privacy is as important to us as it is to you. We take it very seriously. Our Privacy Policy and Terms are always available for you to review. Please don’t hesitate to email us at info@tinybeans.com if you have any further questions.

You can sign up for FREE at www.tinybeans.com/app or download our iPhone or Android app.

You can add family and friends to your Tinybeans journal using the app or website. 

 

From the app: 

  • Navigate to the More tab
  • Tap your journal 
  • Tap Family & Friends
  • From here, you can manually add folks using their email address or invite directly from your device’s Contact list (just note that you must have an email address saved for the Contact). 

 

From the website: 

  • Login to tinybeans-dev.vipdev.lndo.site
  • Click your profile icon near the top right 
  • Select Family & Friends from the dropdown
  • From here, you can manually add folks using their email address

 

Adding someone to your Tinybeans journal allows them access to all of your precious memories added to Tinybeans and automatically signs them up to receive daily update emails each time you post something new. 

You can add a child to your Tinybeans journal from the app or website. 

 

From the app, navigate to the Memories tab and tap the + icon just below your journal title near the top of the page. 

 

From the website, click your profile icon near the top right and select Children & Pets from the dropdown.

From the app, you can add a memory – a photo, video, quote, or story – by tapping the + icon from the main menu at the base of the screen. Make sure you’ve allowed Tinybeans access to your Photos! 

From the website, just click “+ Add Moments” from any page. Once the upload screen appears, you can either Browse your files or just drag and drop to upload. 

Everyone you invite to follow your journal will have access to all the memories you share (except for those you mark as “hidden”). Your followers will also receive their own login so they can see your Tinybeans memories any time, and we’ll send them a daily update on the days you add memories to your journal, as well as fun flashbacks, weekly summaries, and more. They can decide how often they receive updates from us and change their settings by logging into their account.

A smartphone is not required to enjoy Tinybeans! Everything you add to your journal is synced to both our app and website, and you and your followers can use either one—your login is the same. If both options seem like too much of a hassle, that’s no problem. When you add followers, they’re automatically signed up to receive updates directly to their inbox. We try to make it as easy as possible for all members of your family to view those special and silly moments.

Once someone is added to your journal, only they can change the way their name displays. This can be done through their My Details page on our website or their individual settings in the app.

After a user is added to your journal, only they can change the frequency and type of notifications they receive through their My Details page on our website or their individual settings in the app.

You can choose to receive journal updates immediately, daily, weekly, or never through your My Details page on our website or your notification settings in the app. A user can only adjust their notification settings for themselves, not other users on the journal.

You can receive updates either through emails, or through push notifications on your smartphone. You can choose which method (and frequency) you prefer in your My Details page on our website or your notification settings in the app.

To switch between journals you’re following, just click on the journal title you see at the top of the Memories or Calendar page. A pop-up menu will appear allowing you to switch to another journal. 

You can create printed photo books using your Tinybeans memories through either our app or our website.

Head to tinybeans.com/photobooks using your computer to create a beautiful, customizable Photo Book! The book will generate based on the date range in your journal that you choose during setup.

In the app, just tap Photo Store to create a book filtered by date or child. The app experience offers even more customization options, with a focus on a wider variety of design styles and layouts.

All Tinybeans Photo Books are printed on high-quality, 100-weight glossy paper using premium ink so your memories will really pop! Whether hardcover or softcover, your book will come in a matte finish “soft-touch” binding that’s easy to clean and great for hands both big and small.

Bear in mind that the Photo Store in the app and the Photo Books experience on the website are completely separate experiences. Any books created via the in-app store must be completed and purchased in-app, and vice versa for any books created via the website.

You can delete your account from the More tab of the app. Alternatively, you can always email us at info@tinybeans.com, and we will delete your account for you. We’ll be sad to see you go, though!

Yes! Free subscribers are able to upload up to 20 memories (photos or videos) per month – up to a total of 5GB – with an ad-supported experience. To unlock more storage, unlimited uploading, an ad-free experience and more, we encourage you to join our Tinybeans+ subscription. 

You’ll still have access to everything you’ve uploaded, but you won’t be able to add new photos or videos unless you upgrade. Your most recent memories will remain visible, and older ones will be safely archived.

If you need more space, you can upgrade to Tinybeans+ or Tinybeans+ Legacy any time. Both plans include 200GB of storage which is enough for more than 50,000 images.

You can remove ads for yourself and for everyone following your journal by joining Tinybeans+. It also unlocks the following features for you and one additional follower you choose to Share your subscription:

  • 2TB upload storage
  • High-quality videos up to 5 minutes

Tinybeans+ is a subscription tier that’s designed for parents actively sharing memories as they happen and who don’t want to miss a thing.

Tinybeans+ includes 200GB of storage, unlimited uploads, no ads, and private access for two users.

Your Tinybeans+ subscription includes the following features:

Tinybeans+ is available for $74.99/year or $7.99/month. Pricing is charged in USD for all subscribers except for those in Australia, for whom pricing is charged in AUD. We hope to offer price parity for a wider range of locations soon! 

Tinybeans+ Legacy is an affordable plan for families who are uploading less often but still want access to all their memories. It includes 200GB of storage, two user accounts, 20 uploads per month and exclusive offers on photo books.

Legacy has the same core features as Tinybeans+, but with a monthly upload limit of 20. It’s ideal for families who mostly want to preserve and enjoy existing memories rather than share every day.

From the app, select More, then Manage Subscription. From there, you can verify your next renewal date, your price, and set or reset the follower you have selected to Share your subscription with. If you need to cancel, tap your subscription and the option to cancel will appear.

Free Tinybeans allows you to upload a maximum of 20 photos and videos per month and includes ads around your family’s journal. 

Being chosen to Share a Tinybeans+ subscription unlocks all the same features the subscriber enjoys:

Yes! As long as your Family Premium subscription is able to auto-renew using the original payment method, it will remain active. Once we are unable to auto-renew with the original payment method, your legacy Family Premium subscription will be canceled. 

While your Family Premium features remain the same, the price of yearly Premium will increase to the standard $74.99/year or $7.99/month USD. For a full list of features for Family Premium, please email info@tinybeans.com

Lifetime Family Premium members will see no change to their service.

The first step would be to force quit and restart the app to see if the features (like ad removal, longer video uploads, etc) appear! If not, try updating your app and signing out and back in (don’t worry, all your memories are safe and sound on our server and will re-download when you log back in!). If you still have trouble, please email our team at info@tinybeans.com with which features you’re missing, and our support experts will be happy to help.

You can easily cancel your subscription at any time. 

From the app, select the More tab, then Manage Subscription and tap through until you see the option to cancel. If you subscribed directly via our website, you can cancel from your Billing page (select Manage Subscription for Tinybeans+). Your subscription will remain active through the end of your current term.

When you cancel your Tinybeans+ subscription, your full feature set remains active through the end of your current term. Once the current term expires, ads will return to your journal and you will be limited to uploading 20 memories per month. All previously added memories will remain safely stored on your journal—there is no risk of losing anything.

We’ll never delete your memories just because you cancel. You’ll revert to the Free plan, and your newest photos (within the 5GB limit) will remain visible. Older ones will be safely archived and can be accessed again if you upgrade.

If your account is inactive for 12 months – meaning no logins, upgrades, or photo book purchases – your data may be permanently deleted. We’ll send you email reminders before that happens.

To keep your account active, just log in occasionally, or upgrade to any paid plan. You can also reset the clock by ordering a photo book.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and Diners Club.

You can download individual photos and videos from a Tinybeans journal by tapping on the 3 dots in the lower right corner of a moment and selecting Download.

We offer bulk exports of all of your memories as a feature of our Tinybeans+ subscription.

As a journal owner, it is possible to “hide” photos or videos during the initial upload. This keeps the moment visible only to you and to those followers who have been granted Full Access permissions (which makes them a co-owner of the journal with you). To those without Full Access, it would remain hidden.

It’s important to note that it is not possible to retroactively hide or un-hide a moment once it’s been posted. The decision has to be made during upload.

Photo books

You can create printed photo books using your Tinybeans memories through either our app or our website.

Tinybeans is now proud to offer two distinct printing experiences.

Our classic Photo Book experience is still available via our website. Books can be auto-generated with a variety of page layouts based on a date range in your Tinybeans journal. These books focus on a clean, streamlined photo book experience which puts your memories front and center and faithfully represents the timeline of your family’s journey. Web-ordered books include single-image, four-image, text-only, and calendar page layouts.

The in-app Photo Store is focused on offering the greatest possible customization options with a far wider variety of styles, formats, and layouts. Choose from 12 basic styles and select the size and orientation of your liking. Then, filter photos by date range or child profile and hand-select which photos you want included in the book. Our system will create a beautiful draft for you which is fully customizable – you can change page layouts, swap photos, add text, change background colors, and more! You can also create beautiful annual Calendars using your Tinybeans photos via the in-app Photo Store!

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The website Photo Books and in-app Photo Store are completely separate systems. Books created via the website cannot be ordered via the app and vice versa.
  • Right now, drafts and previously ordered books are not saved via the in-app Photo Store. Books must be completed and ordered at the time of creation. Drafts and previous orders are available via the website Photo Books experience.
  • For the in-app Photo Store, only the photos selected during initial setup can be included in your final book. You cannot add additional photos after the book has been created. We hope to improve this soon. By contrast: for the website Photo Books experience, all photos added to your journal are available for inclusion in your books at any given time during the creation process.
  • The books ordered via the new in-app Photo Store will be noticeably different from previous books ordered via the website Photo Books experience. If you’ve ordered books with us before and want a matching set, we’d suggest sticking with the website experience.

We offer a wide range of photo book and calendar options at a variety of price points. Books can be created either via our website or our in-app Photo Store. The website and in-app Store are completely separate offerings.

Our photo books start at just $19.99 for 30 pages in our small softcover books via the website and $25.99 via the in-app Photo Store. You can also add up to 200 pages so you can include every one of your favorite Tinybeans moments.

For orders placed via our website, free shipping will be provided for our paid subscribers shipping to U.S. addresses. If you do not have a subscription, shipping is just one flat fee, $5 in the US or $10 for all international countries. Different books must be ordered separately with shipping applied for each order. For orders placed via in the in-app Photo Store, shipping is dynamic based on destination.

Please note that all of our prices are in USD on the site and app. Pricing will change to AUD if you are purchasing from Australia.

For the website: 

After selecting your Photo Book preferences (size, number of pages), our site will auto-generate a book for you with your images based on the months you’ve chosen to print! You can always add additional pages later (there’s a prompt at the bottom right of each page view), and the pricing works out the same. 

It will be a mix of layouts that you can adjust to your liking! Click on the white area of the page you’d like to edit, and our Design menu will open on the left hand side of your page, where you can choose from different layouts and background colors! The same process applies for swapping out photos – click on the photo you would like to change, and then use the menu at the left to choose the new photo for the spot. 

The images you choose in the layout can be re-centered to how you like them. If you click into an image, so the orange square appears around the box, you can drag the photo to be centered on the area of the image you prefer. You can drag the images left or right, or up or down, depending on what you need!

Be sure to click ‘Save’ after you’ve made adjustments to your photo arrangements so your draft stays up to date with your work!

For the in-app Photo Store: 

After your book has been created based on your chosen product style and selected photos, editing is done within the app using the editing menu at the base of the screen. You’ll be able to see all the pages of your book in a single, scrollable screen to allow for overview. You can edit an individual page by selecting it (the orange frame indicates which page is currently selected) and then using the editing menu:

  • Select “Edit” to swap images, change layouts or backgrounds, or add text
  • Select “Add spread” to add an additional page after the currently selected page
  • Select “Duplicate spread” to make a copy of the page
  • Select “Move up” or “Move down” to change the order pages
  • Select “Remove” to delete the page altogether (note that pages are deleted in pairs)

When you’re finished editing a page, tap “All page” at the top right of the screen to return to the all pages overview. You’ll also be able to view History for any particular page and Undo any edits using the buttons at the top of the screen.

Remember: Books created via the in-app Photo Store must be completed and ordered at the time of creation. We do not currently save any drafts.

Yes! In both the web and in-app versions of our photo book experience, your captions will import into the single-image page layout of our Photo Book creator for you! Captions are only automatically included in the single-image page layout, but there is space to manually include text on other pages as well. There are also text-only page layouts which can be a great way to tell the story of the date range of your book.

The photos that are shown in the Calendar layout when creating your photo book come directly from your journal. In other words, any Calendar pages you choose to display in your book will be the same as what you’d see when logging into Tinybeans.

If you want to change which photo is shown on a day in the Calendar for your photo book, you need to change the pinned photo for that date through your journal itself. Go to your Calendar in your journal, find the photo you’d like to display for the given date, tap the 3 dots beneath the photo and select “Pin as day photo”. Then, return to your photo book draft and re-select that Calendar month for the desired page so that it refreshes. The newly pinned photo should display.

Note: The Calendar page layout is only available via the website Photo Book creator. There is no Calendar page layout for the in-app Photo Store – but you can print a physical Calendar using your Tinybeans photos!

Once you have submitted your new Photo Book, your order is sent directly to the printer and we cannot make any changes at this point. We know how important it is that people receive their orders and gifts as quickly as possible, and because of this, there is no lag time between an order submitted and sent to the printer for production! Be sure to review your book thoroughly before you finish the payment process to ensure your book is exactly as you like it!

Photo books ordered via our website are printed and shipped from the US, while books ordered via the in-app Photo Store are printed and shipped locally. It takes 3 – 5 business days for our print partners to process, print and check your book’s quality. Then, shipping takes 3-7 business days for all app-ordered books. For books ordered via the website, shipping takes 3-7 business days for U.S. orders and 7-28 business days internationally. For faster international shipping, we encourage you to order via the in-app Photo Store.

For website orders, we are happy to continue offering free shipping for our paid subscribers on all Photo Book orders shipping to U.S. addresses. If you are not a subscriber or need to ship outside the U.S., shipping is just one flat fee! For orders placed via our website, the cost per book is $5 in the US or $10 for all international countries. Different books must be ordered separately with shipping applied for each order.

Right now, drafts and previously ordered books are only saved via the website. If you’d like to continue working on a drafted photo book, or would like to order another copy of a book you’ve already purchased, you can do so in your account. From the calendar view, just choose Photobooks from the menu at the top and then click ‘Start creating’ on the next page. This will take you to your saved drafts and previously ordered books.

No drafts or previous purchases are saved via the in-app Photo Store. Books created in-app must be completed and ordered at the time of creation.

To best keep your Photo Books a surprise for your loved ones, Photo Books that you create are only visible to you. This way, you can create and order books for your journal followers as gifts and keep them a secret!

You can purchase 6 months or a year for your loved one which they’ll redeem with a unique redemption code. No account required to purchase and no payment method needed for your loved one to redeem!

A Tinybeans+ gift card can be purchased here. You’ll need your name and email address, the name and email address of the recipient, and a valid payment method. You have the option to add a customizable message for the recipient, or to send the gift to yourself so you can give it at a later date. You can also choose for us to automatically send it at any date within the next calendar year.

No! There is no account required to purchase a Tinybeans Gift Card. 

Yes! You can set your Tinybeans Gift Card to be sent anytime within the next calendar year or you can have it sent to yourself so you can personally deliver it.

Yes! Gift Cards can be stacked so that one starts after the previous ends. You can purchase as many terms of Tinybeans+ as you like. Each purchase must be made and redeemed separately.

No, at this time we cannot offer refunds of Tinybeans Gift Cards. 

A Tinybeans Gift Card subscription will include the following features for your loved one:

  • An ad free experience (including for followers of their journal)

At the end of your gifted Tinybeans+ term, your account will revert back to free. Ads will return to your journal and you will be subject to our free uploading limit of 20 memories per month again. All memories added during your Tinybeans gift term will remain safely stored and can continue to be viewed, liked, and commented on.

Purchasing a Tinybeans Gift Card for a family member or friend does not initiate a subscription for either the purchaser or the recipient. Instead, you will be gifting your loved one a set of time during which their Tinybeans account will enjoy the full benefits of our subscription. No credit card is required on their part to take advantage of the gift! 

In order for a paid subscriber to redeem a gift card, they will first need to cancel their existing subscription. Once their current term expires, they can then redeem and enjoy their gift. There is no risk of losing access to any memories during the transition.
