Bad Sisters is coming back for a second season that’s sure to be filled with just as much mystery, murder, and dark humor

Apple TV’s Bad Sisters isn’t the best known show on the streamer (Ted Lasso and Severance are hard to beat). But fans know that the dark comedy, which has been widely praised by critics, is one of the best series Apple TV+ has produced yet — and now they have news to celebrate, since Bad Sisters has been officially renewed for a second season.

Bad Sisters stars creator Sharon Horgan alongside Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, and Eve Hewson as a close-knit group of five sisters who come together to try to dispose of Duff’s character’s abusive husband (literally). When his life insurance provider gets suspicious, the sisters have to defend themselves, even though each one of them had plenty of motive to do the deed. The question is whether they had malicious intent — and an investigation is desperate to prove that they did. The series is based on a flemish TV show called Clan, whose creator serves as an executive producer for Bad Sisters.

“If you’d have told me three years ago that I’d be making a series about five murderous sisters chasing a man around Ireland trying to kill him I’d have said; yeah, that sounds about right,” Horgan said in a statement announcing the show’s upcoming second season. “The response to our show had been beyond what we could have hoped for. It gave us the opportunity to shine a light on stories that don’t always get such a global platform. I look forward to getting chilly in the Irish Sea one more time.”

The renewal news comes just a few weeks after Bad Sisters finished streaming its 10-episode first season, which got plenty of glowing reviews from critics. Despite the positive reception, though, the show never made it into Nielson’s streaming top 10 during its run. Since Apple doesn’t publicly release streaming data, there’s no way to know how many people streamed the first season — just that it must have been enough for Apple to take a chance on Season 2, something fans are extremely grateful for.
