You might wear your yoga pants 24-7 (even though you don’t even really do yoga), you might live on your toddler’s uneaten chicken nuggets and you might not have cleaned your house in days. Okay, scratch that, weeks. Hey, it’s okay. That is, until someone questions your ability to keep your house clean. And that’s what happened to one mama. Check out one awesome dad’s response when his mother questioned why his house wasn’t cleaner. When dad Clint Edwards, who is also the writer behind No Idea What I Am Doing: A Daddy Blog, got a call from his mother one Saturday he wasn’t expecting to hear, “Doesn’t it bother you that Mel won’t keep the house cleaner?” And no, Mel is not the family’s housekeeper. She is Edwards’ wife.Edwards admitted that their home is often filled with the typical family clutter — kid stuff, dishes in the sink, crafty creations and all the other things that come along with living life as parents. He also admitted that he didn’t really think it was entirely his wife’s responsibility to keep their home clean. After all, they are partners. The dad thought back to his own father’s advice for picking a bride, “Stop by her house unexpected. See how it looks in there.” Hmm. Not exactly a modern man’s way of thinking. So how did Edwards reply to his mother? Well, he thought about what a clean house meant to his parents. And then he thought about what he wife meant to him. He posted his response on his Facebook page, writing, “I didn’t get into this marriage for a clean house. I got into it because she seemed like someone I could spend my life with.”And what did his mom say? “Well…that probably is more important than a clean house.” Aww! We’re kind of loving this sweet family. How important is a clean house to you? Tell us in the comments below.
