Little Kitchen Academy is the first-of-its-kind Montessori-inspired cooking school for kids ages 3 through teen. Students experience a 3-hour class once a week during the school year or over five consecutive days during Summer, Winter, & Spring breaks. In each class, students learn how to make healthy, delicious and seasonal meals from scratch to consumption — all while experimenting with math and science concepts, working on their reading skills, and polishing up their table manners by sharing meals around the LKA community table.

Our Fall Season is a time of delight and exploration as our students try new recipes filled with fresh, local, seasonal vegetables. The weather may begin to get colder, but inside Little Kitchen Academy every day is full of warmth and joy as your child learns practical life skills that will last a lifetime.

The Instituto Cervantes program is designed to provide children of different ages the opportunity to learn Spanish in a rich, stimulating, and motivating environment that fosters enjoyment and curiosity.

Children will learn Spanish in a safe atmosphere where they will feel comfortable and free to actively participate. Students will be nurtured and encouraged to communicate in Spanish and work in collaborative groups – promoting cooperation, group effort, and authentic communication.

All program activities are age-appropriate, adapting language instruction and activities to the needs of students.

our teachers are all fully qualified and trained native-Spanish speakers.

Children & teenagers from 4 to 15 are welcome. They will be placed in the appropriate class according to their proficiency in Spanish.

Why should children learn Spanish?

  • Research shows that children who learn a second language have a higher rate of success in their education and their adult careers.
  • Spanish is already the second international business language.
  • Speaking Spanish provides students that competitive edge they will need for future college admission and job placement in our emerging global economy.

Corlears School is a nonprofit, independent, progressive elementary school located in Chelsea, New York. We provide children from toddlers through fifth grade with the foundation they need to gain confidence and fall in love with learning.

Corlears is one of the few schools in New York City that focuses exclusively on the early years of education — and we always have! In our five decades of experience, we’ve come to understand that these early years are the most crucial formative years for every child. We specialize in guiding this age group because we believe the start of your child’s academic life should be nothing short of exceptional.

Our interdisciplinary curriculum is tailored to each child’s particular strengths and needs, because every child is an original. We strive to create a safe and supportive — yet challenging! — environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and express their ideas.

We are driven by six core values: compassion, growth, courage to act, responsibility, belonging, and curiosity. These values are cultivated in every experience for students, families, and staff; we are driven to make the world a better place, starting in our own backyard.
