Music and movement classes for children birth through five and the grownups who love them!

Chickadee Music Together is thrilled to announce we’ll be offering both in-person and Zoom classes this fall.

Fun. Fabulous. Uplifting. Magical. These are a few of the ways parents describe Chickadee Music Together classes. Each week babies, toddlers, preschoolers, big kids—and the grownups who love them!—gather to make music as a community. Our early childhood music classes give families the chance to connect with other families in a musically rich, playful environment. Talented teachers lead families in song, dance, creative movement, chant, instrument play and imaginative musical experiences that foster growth in a child’s innate musical ability. Music Together is on a mission to make the world a better place by making it more musical, and you can be part of it by joining us!

Pratt’s youth program fosters an appreciation of art for students ages 5-12. Pratt introduces students to a variety of materials and artistic concepts to evoke their curiosity and to hone their natural creativity develop perseverance, and critical thinking. Professional artists teach students in a fun, relaxed environment where they can express their creativity and gain self-confidence. The techniques developed at Pratt do not stop here; students use these new skills artistically, academically, and interpersonally.

Pratt’s teen program is specifically designed for teens (13 – 18) who want to explore art making in a professional studio environment. Students gain understanding of complex concepts, problem-solving, risk-taking skills and discover positive ways to articulate the way they think and feel. Students celebrate their strengths and develop the skills they need to become healthy, contributing adults. Pratt provides opportunities for teens to develop a foundation for success through the process of making art, which has been shown to motivate and engage students, as well as to increase their ability to develop abilities associated with academic success.

Pratt Fine Arts Center has committed to racial equity as a core value and ongoing practice, allocating resources to the breakdown of systemic barriers and the development of equitable solutions organization-wide.

Chicago City Day School is a private JK-through-8 school that combines rigorous education and a culture of kindness. Founded in 1981, City Day delivers an academic program that draws on the best of traditional education thought and practice while also embracing innovation. Our students compose poems, build rockets, measure the quality of the Chicago River, and create sculptures — all while honing the bedrock reading, writing, and math skills that will help them translate a complex world.

As an independent school, City Day charts its own course. The School has developed an adaptive curriculum that grows in complexity with the students and responds to their individual needs. City Day’s expert teachers differentiate their instruction, and this, combined with class sizes that we keep small, ensures that each student is challenged and supported. Our beatuiful 2-acre campus in Lakeview East provides students with varied facilities and learning spaces, from our state-of-the-art tech center to our tranquil outdoor koi pond. We also give students opportunities to learn away from campus, via regular field trips in the city, our STEM expedition to Space Camp, and our immersive trips to Europe, among others. Limited spots available for the fall of 2021!

Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS), founded in 1961, is a progressive, coed, college preparatory Quaker school serving students from Preschool (age 3) through 12th Grade, with optional 5- and 7-day boarding programs in the Upper School.  Situated on 144 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, MD, SSFS provides a safe, supportive environment—in a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive community—for young people to discover their passions and become actively engaged in their education.

Small class sizes and a low teacher-to-student ratio give students the opportunity to experience a rigorous,  hands-on curriculum. Our teachers have the opportunity to build relationships with students, challenge them, and provide a space for all voices to be heard, creating an environment where teachers lead and learn alongside their students. Our school’s culture—rooted in the idea that collaboration engenders achievement—can be traced to our Quaker heritage and abiding belief in the Quaker values of simplicity, equality, honesty, stewardship of the environment, and peaceful resolution of conflict.  By fostering independence while cultivating self-confidence, cultural identity, and a sense of belonging, our students become responsible, successful citizens of the world.
