Here’s How to Get One from Krispy Kreme One of your fave cereals is back: Honey Smacks cereal will make its grand return to retailers nationwide after a massive recall kept boxes off shelves for months this past summer. In June 2018, Kellogg’s voluntarily recalled its popular Honey Smacks cereal, following a multi-state Salmonella outbreak. As of the end of September, illnesses related to consumption of the affected boxes of cereal totaled 135—with 34 hospitalizations, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The last reported illness onset was Aug. 29. Photo: Hal Gatewood via Unsplash Now that the FDA and CDC have concluded their investigation, Kellogg’s is ready to bring the cereal staple back to store shelves and breakfast bowls. According to a press release, Honey Smacks will make their grand re-debut next month in limited quantities. Expect that same good ol’ Honey Smacks taste—but don’t expect the same formula. Kellogg’s will bring back the cereal with with a simpler, updated recipe. Chris Stolsky, Associate Director of Marketing for Honey Smacks said, of the return, “Since its introduction in 1953, Honey Smacks has been a favorite staple in families’ pantries.
