Now there’s even more fun ways to enjoy your fave photo social media site because you can now add music to Instagram Stories! The new feature joins several others in recent months, including the ability to add emoji polls and to mute people you’re following.
The option to add music means even more functionality and appeal to Instagram, especially for parents who love sharing photos with family and friends. While there are many pros of upping your Insta Stories game, here are three cool reasons parents should use music from now on.

1. Now your Boomerang videos will have sound!
Who doesn’t love a good video of a kid bouncing in and out of a pool? Well now your viewers don’t have to suffer in silence! When you record your Boomerang and add to Instagram Stories, adding music is now a breeze.
You’ll now notice when you swipe and open your Stories, there is a new option for “Music” in between “Type” and “Live.” You can choose from hundreds of popular recoding artists in almost every genre and mood and it’s as easy as a swipe of the finger.
You can preview the song before adding by hitting the “play” button, or just tap the song to immediately add to your story. You also have the option to play from your Stories screen and change your song, or set it to play a specific section of the song.
2. Show your personality through music.
Everyone knows a good Instagram Story stands out because of creativity––and fun captions and stickers fit the bill. Highlight your kiddos antics by adding music that matches your mood easily by clicking on the Sticker button (a squarish happy face) and you’ll now see a music “sticker.”
You’ll be brought to the same screen as we showed above, where you can select from tons of popular songs. Instagram has even stated they will be adding new songs every day!
3. Create a soundtrack for your photos.
Adding music to your Instagram Stories isn’t just relegated to movies––you can also add to your still photos, too! Keep your viewers on their toys by adding quick music clips to photos that convey your mood.
You can easily drop music in and then tap the album cover to make it bigger so everyone can see!
Will you be using the new music feature on Instagram?
