Viral & Trending Dad Gets Shamed for Using a Leash with 5-Year-Old Quintuplets Advertisement Yummi Pouch co-founder Katie Wallace recently took the time to chat with us about what makes Yummi Pouch awesome, how she balances work and motherhood, and more. Read on: Red Tricycle: Congratulations on being voted “Most Awesome” by your community! What do you think your customers value most about your business?Katie Wallace: We offer a line of Eco-friendly reusable food pouches which parents can fill with homemade blended snacks, juices, and smoothies for their kids. Our products encourage healthy snacks for active kids and make snack time simple and mess-free. We’ve had a tremendous response from parents who appreciate how easy it is to use, fill and clean Yummi Pouches. Our customers also appreciate being able to control the ingredients inside each pouch, especially for kids with food sensitivities and allergies.RT: What inspired you to start your business?KW: Creating Yummi Pouch was a natural step for us to take after we had our daughter in 2012. We noticed that despite the popularity of baby food pouches, few reusable options existed for parents who wanted an Eco-friendly, portable container for homemade blended snacks. This venture has been an exciting journey for our family, as we’ve combined efforts and expertise to make it happen! We’ve also discovered Yummi Pouch reusable food pouches have so many more uses than just holding baby food; we use them for yogurt, jello, and even pudding!RT: Any advice for new business owners just getting started?KW: Starting a business is a lot of work, and definitely life-consuming! We recommend setting goals, taking little steps, and prioritizing. Finding ways to make your work fun is also important. Once you start, the business will always be there, so do what work you can each day and enjoy the ride. RT: Can you give us one tip for balancing entrepreneurship with parenthood?KW: I balance my life as a mom-entrepreneur by focusing on small projects that will maximize my time spent. I take time to play with my daughter and really focus on her, which sometimes means putting business tasks on hold temporarily. I also multi-task. Since my toddler regularly enjoys using Yummi Pouches, I’ll often make a smoothie for her snack, which I later turn into a recipe tutorial for our website.RT: What is your proudest moment as a business owner or parent?KW: We have really enjoyed seeing how Yummi Pouch has encouraged families to eat healthier and has made mealtime easier for children with special medical circumstances. We are very honored to receive a Red Tricycle Totally Awesome Award because it’s confirmation that Yummi Pouch reusable food pouches have made an impact on many families. We are very excited to continue to serve our customers with our innovative products.RT: Is there a special offer you’d like to include for Red Tricycle readers?KW: Yes!
