Jennifer Lopez is sharing the details of Affleck’s recent proposal to her with her “inner circle” on her newsletter, On the JLo, and you might want a box of tissues and a tub of ice cream before you hit play. Lopez dishes that the proposal happened in “her favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath)” and that she was “taken totally off guard.” She was “trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again” before saying “YES of course that’s a YES.”
This is the second time Affleck has been ring shopping for Lopez’s left hand, after the couple called it quits in January 2004. Media scrutiny contributed to the split, but the older and wiser pair reignited their relationship last year. This time around, Affleck proposed with a green diamond engagement ring, which JLo showed off in photos as well as in the video. “Green has always been my lucky color,” she wrote, “and now, for sure, it always will be.”

In her video, Lopez said it was the “perfect moment.” The Marry Me star added “I was smiling so big and tears were coming down my face, feeling so incredibly happy and whole. It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined…just a quiet Saturday night at home, two people promising to always be there for each other. Two very lucky people.” The pair punctuates the clip by ending with exchanged “I love you’s” whispered between on-camera (Lopez) and off-camera (Affleck).
Ben Affleck told WSJ Magazine in December “The most important thing is being a good father, the second most important thing is to be a good man. And a good person. And, ostensibly, you know, a good husband. Hopefully.” Looks like all that hoping is paying off, because it’s not everyday a couple gets a second chance at a lifetime of happiness.
Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and they have three children together—Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10—who have recently appeared publicly with Lopez’s children with ex-husband Marc Anthony, Max and Emme, 14.
