What’s cuter than a newborn? Apparently, one dressed up as a pickle!
The UPMC Magee-Womens Hospitall dressed up babies as pickles in honor of the annual Pittsburgh Pickle Festival, known as Picklesburgh, by dressing the hospital’s newborns up in pickle-themed outfits, and they are even more adorable than you imagined.
Each little dill pickle was outfitted with hand-knitted green hats and blankets complete with pickley bumps. They each donned a onesie reading “Special Dill-ivery.”
During the ceremony to reveal the young gherkins, a city spokesman described the Picklesburgh festival as “built for every pregnant woman’s craving” and predicted that the first pickle babies could be mayors of Picklesburgh some day. This is the fourth year of the festival and clearly the residents of Pittsburgh think it’s a pretty big dill.
Babies have so many adorable milestones and first moments, but when you’re a Royal those firsts can be a little different. This week Meghan Markle brought baby Archie to his very first playdate with his cousins that just happened to be a polo match.
While dad Prince Harry was busy playing in the charity match, the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day in Wokingham, England, mom had her hands full holding Archie as they cheered him on. Duchess Kate Middleton was also in attendance with her own little ones, including Prince Louis, who is no longer the baby of the family. They were also cheering on their dad, Prince William who played in the match as well.
It’s been a busy week for the two-month-old royal who was just in the spotlight over the weekend when the Royal family celebrated Archie’s baptism in an intimate ceremony.
Jack Higgins didn’t graduate to a shower of applause. When the high school senior walked the stage at his Carmel High School graduation, the room was silent—and for a very good reason.
Higgins, who has autism and is extremely sensitive to sound, and his family had concerns about the grad participating in the ceremony. But the Putnam County, New York principal wasn’t going to let Higgins’ sensitivity stop the young man from graduating with his class.
Instead of cheers and thunderous applause, principal Lou Riolo asked the students, families and staff to sit in silence as Higgins accepted his diploma. Riolo told CNN, “It was important to pull this off.” He added, “First off for Jack, second for his family who could experience the same event as every other parent/family whose child reaches this milestone was of great importance. Lastly to give the opportunity to everyone in that arena a chance to assist in making one young man’s and his families graduation dreams a reality.”
When it came time for Higgins to walk the stage at Western Connecticut State University’s O’Neill Center (where Carmel High School held its graduation), Higgins got a standing ovation—without a single sound.
Even though Riolo and his staff planned the silent part, they hadn’t said a word to the students about standing. The principal told CNN, “They are a class act and superseded expectations. For example them rising to their feet after Jack received his diploma was them. It was not preplanned and no one told them to act like that that. They felt compelled to show their support in that way. They made that amazing compassionate gesture on their own.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie is the fourth royal little christened in the past few years—following on the heels of his cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Even though the official pics of Archie’s, George’s, Charlotte’s and Louis’s christenings may look fairly similar, there are some notable differences. Unlike his cousins, Archie’s big day was not an entirely public event, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex expressing their desire to have a private, intimate celebration for close family and friends.
Archie’s small-sized event didn’t share a venue with any of his cousins. With a guest list limited to 25, the ceremony was held at Queen Elizabeth’s private chapel at Windsor Castle. Prince George and Prince Louis were christened at St. James’s Palace’s Royal Chapel and Princess Charlotte had her ceremony at Sandringham’s St. Mary Magdalene church in Norfolk.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released four official photographs to mark the christening of Prince Louis on Monday 9th July.

When it comes to the godparents, Kate Middleton and Prince William announced a lengthy list of seven close friends prior to Prince George’s christening. Likewise, the royal parents announced five godparents before Princess Charlotte’s christening and six for Prince Louis. Breaking from tradition, Markle and Prince Harry have kept mum on the names of Archie’s godparents.
Despite the differences, there are some similarities between Archie’s christening and his cousins’ ceremonies. Baby Archie’s christening dress echoed the ones worn by his cousins. Like son, like mother—Markle’s cream-colored Dior dress was also reminiscent (at least in hue) of Middleton’s christening day fashion choices.
It looks like the world’s wait is over when it comes the newest Royal’s future godparents, or is it? Buckingham Palace recently revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to keep this info private, much to our chagrin.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex aren’t exactly an in-the-spotlight couple (for as much as royalty can stay out of the media’s eye). Even though they’re very public figures, the couple wants a quiet christening for baby Archie.
The event itself includes a small gathering of 25 family and friends and, according to a statement by Buckingham Palace, “the godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private.”
The ceremony will take place on Jul. 6 in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle. Recent media statements from the Palace confirmed the couple will release at least a few pics of the event in the days following the ceremony, but don’t expect to see the godparents named in any of them.

New mum and dad Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting ready for an intimate christening ceremony for the adorable little Archie.
According to reports, the royal couple will hold the baby’s christening in Queen Elizabeth’s private chapel at Windsor Castle. A royal source told PEOPLE, Markle and Prince Harry “wanted an intimate, peaceful setting in a place with such a special connection to Her Majesty.”
And don’t expect a gaggle of guests. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are limiting the christening to 25 of their closest family and friends.
The unnamed royal source also told PEOPLE, “This is a beautiful milestone and they are excited to share it as a family first and then with the world.” Not only does this refer to the small size, but it also means the Royals will give us all a sneak peek into the christening—that is after the fact. Reportedly the new parents will share pics in the days after the Jul. 6 event.
Grab your favorite book and find a shady spot to journey on the Reading Rainbow at the new LeVar Burton Park.
The former Richfield Park in Sacramento, California has been renamed in honor of Burton, an Emmy-winning Sacramento-native and former host of PBS’ Reading Rainbow. In addition to hosting the long-running series, Burton also starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the television miniseries Roots.
During the park’s dedication ceremony Sacramento mayor Darrell Steinberg explained that the city decided to name the park after Burton because his successful career might inspire local kids to achieve their own dreams and goals.
“This is the neighborhood where I grew up. [I grew up] just down the street and around the corner,” Burton told CBS News. “We just came from John Still [Middle School] and my message to the kids was ‘If I can do it, so can you.’”
