Check your toy box. There’s been a recall of Manhattan Toy’s Manhattan Ball plastic activity toys. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Manhattan Toy has received six reports of the plastic tubes detaching from the center ball. If a tube with a silicone teether detaches the silicone teether becomes a choking hazard.

The toy has a hard plastic center ball with 12 soft plastic tubes inserted into the center ball and 7 silicone teethers threaded on the tubes.  “The Manhattan Toy Company” and lot code 325700EL or 325700IL are printed on the center ball.

Manhattan Toy has received six reports of the plastic tubes detaching from the center ball.  Two of the six reports included a silicone teether being separated from the toy.  The firm also reported one incident of a child mouthing the silicone teether after it came off.

The Manhattan Ball was sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from Jul. 2019 through Jun. 2020 for about $10.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and contact Manhattan Toy or return it to any Target Store for a full refund.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, The Boy Scouts of America has recalled Cub Scout outdoor activity pins because the pin’s face and shaft contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the rhomboid-shaped pin is silver with a gold animal paw painted on a blue background.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled pin away from children and return the pin to any Boy Scouts of America retail store or contact Boy Scout of America’s National Distribution Center for a full refund, including shipping, or for a merchandise credit.

Costway has recalled three double stroller styles because they violate the Federal Standard for Carriages and Strollers. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects about 16,000 strollers and also poses fall, entrapment and strangulation hazards.

The strollers are being recalled because it has been found that a child’s body can fit in the opening between the activity tray and the seat bottom, where their head can become entrapped. Additionally, the strollers also pose a fall hazard because the crotch restraint creates too large of an opening between the seat bottom and the restraint itself.

The affected strollers include:

  • Model BB4476- Infant Double Stroller in red, black and gray
  • Model BB4613- Infant Double Stroller in black
  • Model BB4690- Face to Face Double Stroller in gray

Additionally, a tag on the seat reads: “MADE FOR GOPLUS CORP 11250 POPLAR AVE. FONTANA, CA 92337.” The strollers were sold at costway.com and amazon.com from May 2016 through Dec. 2019 for approximately $100.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission has announced a recall issued by Bonnsu for its’ Miniware Teething Spoons. The food-grade silicone spoons, which are designed for infants to use during the teething phase, can break when used as a teether in an infants mouth and pose a choking hazard.

Bonnsu has received one report where an infant bit through the silicone teething spoon that resulted in a piece separating inside the child’s mouth. All consumers should cease using the spoons and contact Bonnsu for a free replacement product.

The spoons were sold in a set of two and in Meal Kit Configurations. The sets of two came in gray, aqua, peach, key lime (green), cotton candy (pink), and lavender colors. The “First Bites” kits came with a bowl, suction foot, lid and spoons. The “First Bites Travel Kit” spoons came in key lime, aqua, cotton candy, lavender, gray and peach and the “Sup and Snack” kit spoons came in peach and gray.

The recalled spoons were sold online on Miniware.com, Amazon.com, and in stores that include Dillard’s, The Tot, Turquoise, The Mellowland, Mom Loves Me, and Bitte from Dec. 2017 through Mar. 2020 for $14 to $42.

Stargate Apparel has issued a recall on Bunz Kidz-branded sleepwear sets, specifically sold in a robe, top and pants combination. The notice was issued by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission on May 20, 2020 for failing to meet the federal flammability standard for children’s sleepwear, in which burn issues can be a risk if sleepwear is not either snug-fitting or flame resistant.

The recalled sets include a 100 percent microfleece robe and matching white pants with a pink star print and a 100 percent polyester pink top with “Dream in Glitter” printed in gold. The sets were sold in sizes two through 12 and “Bunz Kids” is printed on a blue sewn-in label.

The affected style numbers can be found on the blue label and include L23846, L43846 or L73846. Consumers can also check another sewn-in label to reference the GPU numbers which include 2017-246, 2017-446 or GPU 2017-746.

The recalled PJ sets were sold at Boscovs, Century 21, JC Penney, Macy’s, Marshalls and TJ Maxx, other stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com and Walmart.com from August 2017 through December 2019 for between $24 and $48.

Check your swing sets now. There’s been a recall of the Swurfer brand Kiwi Baby and Toddler Swings. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the plastic stopper on the bottom of the swing rope that holds the swing seat in place can detach, posing a fall hazard to the swing’s occupant.

The plastic swing is sold in green, blue and pink and attaches to a swing set or a tree branch. The swing measures about 15 inches wide, by 10 inches deep and 20 inches high and weighs about 4 pounds. FlyBar, Inc. and Kiwi Swing SSW-0005 are printed on the underside of the swing. The manufacture date code of August 2019 is embossed on the back of the swing. 

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swings and contact the firm to receive instructions to repair the swings. Check your toy box. There’s been a recall of the Musical Lili Llama. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the screws used to attach the spinning flowers to the sides of the toy can become loose and fall off, posing a choking hazard for young children.

This recall involves Musical Lili Llama wooden activity toy.  The llama-shaped wood toy has a multi-colored metal xylophone on the top, two wood mallets, a detachable maraca tail on the back, four spinning squares on the front, two clacking panels on the sides and two spinning flowers on the sides.  Lot code 217120 IL is printed on the inside of the side panel below the company name and address.

Manhattan Toy has received seven reports of loose screws falling off the toy, including two reports of children putting the screws in their mouths.   

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and contact Manhattan Toy for a free repair kit. Check your toy box because there’s been a recall of Grizzly Industrial Children’s Tool Kits. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the tool belt, hammer and suspenders (model H3044) contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead content standard.  In addition, the toy goggles and hardhats do not meet toy safety requirements.

The recalled Children’s Tool Kits have two different model numbers: H3044 and H5855.  Model H3044 is a 12-piece tool kit that contains a helmet, goggles, tape measure, tool belt, hammer, pair of leather gloves, ruler, carpenter’s square, level, bottle of chalk and suspenders.  Model H5855 is an 11-piece tool kit that contains goggles, tape measure, wooden tool caddy, hammer, ruler, carpenter’s square, level, screwdriver, pliers and an adjustable wrench. Model numbers are printed on the front upper right hand corner of the packaging.  “Grizzly Industrial” is printed on multiple items of the tool kits.

Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled Children’s Tool Kits and keep them away from children.  Consumers should contact Grizzly Industrial for instructions on returning the recalled tool kits to receive a full refund including return shipping.  Grizzly is contacting all known purchasers directly to notify them of this recall.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall for the IKEA KULLEN 3-drawer chest. The recalled chest is unstable if it is not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that may result in death or serious injuries to children.  Additionally, KULLEN 3-drawer chests imported after August 12, 2019 do not comply with the performance requirements of the updated version of the U.S. consensus standard (ASTM 2057-19).

KULLEN IKEA Recall

 

IKEA has received six reports of tip-over incidents involving KULLEN 3-drawer chests that were not anchored to the wall, including one report involving a minor cut and one report involving minor cuts and bruises.

The recall includes the following product numbers:

  • 600-930-58 (birch)
  • 501-637-54 (black-brown)
  • 803-221-34 (black-brown)

The KULLEN 3-drawer chest weighs about 45 pounds and is about 28.5 inches tall. A 5-digit supplier number, 4-digit date stamp, IKEA logo, country of origin and “KULLEN” are printed on the underside of the top panel or inside the side panel. 

These dressers were sold exclusively at IKEA stores nationwide and online from April 2005 to December 2019 for about $60.

Consumers should immediately stop using the KULLEN 3-drawer chest if not properly anchored to the wall and place it into an area that children cannot access. Consumers should call IKEA’s toll-free recall hotline at 888-966-4532 from 9 am to 10 pm ET or go online to for more information on how to receive a refund or a free wall-anchoring repair kit. Consumers can install the anchor themselves or IKEA will provide a one-time, free in-home installation service, upon request. 

IKEA will accept in-store returns or arrange for free pick up of the chests for a full refund.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall for Step2’s Little Helper’s Shopping Carts. The shopping cart’s basket can break into sharp pieces, posing a laceration hazard. Step2 has received 22 reports of cart baskets breaking. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves Step2’s Little Helper’s Shopping Cart with the following model numbers and color combinations:  700000 (blue basket with tan cart,) 708500 (pink basket with white cart) and 8567KL (pink basket with gray cart). The grocery shopping carts measure 18.5 inches by 13 inches by 21.5 inches and have a shopping cart base and basket, four wheels and a doll seat.  Only units with date code combinations of 5 and 19 are included in this recall. The date code can be found on the center rib on the back of the basket below the handle. The model number is located on the product packaging.

The affected shopping carts were sold at BJ Wholesale Club, Kohl’s and other stores nationwide and online at Step2 from May 2019 through October 2019 for about $40.

Consumers should immediately take away the recalled shopping carts from children and contact Step2 online or by phone at 800-347-8372 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for a free replacement shopping cart or a refund in the form of a $40 credit.
