Now parents have more control over where their Amazon purchases come from. Given the option, parents can choose to support small businesses when purchasing products for their kids and families instead of defaulting to products only sold by corporate retailers. Tribe, an online tech company has launched a new tech tool, the Small Business Browser, which will easily facilitate this.

The Small Business Browser Extension allows parents to choose products sold by small businesses across the country when purchasing thousands of popular children, lifestyle, food, home goods and wellness products on Amazon. The new Small Business Browser Extension is in addition to the already existing feature in the extension allowing consumers to also choose cruelty-free products.

“Parents and families are consistently rated as one of the most conscious consumer groups in the marketplace, choosing products that support their families, the environment and their communities,” said Tribe CEO and founder Kim Pieper.  “Tribe’s free Small Business Browser Extension now gives parents and families the power to choose small makers over large corporations when shopping for their kids and home.  From baby care brands to toys and kid-friendly snack companies, parents now have the power on Amazon to choose to make their purchases from a small business.  It’s a win, win for parents, communities and the nation’s economy.”

When consumers install Tribe’s Small Business Browser Extension to their browser of choice and search for their favorite products on Amazon, the free tool appears as a small box in the corner of their browser window, alerting the shopper to similar products offered by a small business. The new tool is currently available for download on Chrome, Safari, Firefox.

“Our goal is to help families use their collective purchasing power to support a small business manufacturer selling the same or similar product on Amazon.  We want to give the family consumer as many competitive options available at their fingertips while at the same time, supporting small businesses that have been profoundly hurt during the current COVID-19 pandemic,” Pieper concluded.

Dear Kids,

You won’t remember these days the same way as we, adults, do.

You won’t remember being cooped up in the house.

You won’t remember not being able to have playdates.

You won’t remember Mom and Dad scrambling to come up with activities to do besides watching TV.

You won’t remember how stressed Mom and Dad were as they tried to balance work and taking care of you.

You won’t remember your Mom being worried about what will happen if she runs out of milk and eggs for you.

You won’t remember all of the financial stress your parents felt as they saw the economy on its way to collapse.

You won’t remember how scared your Mom and Dad were that they may get and spread the virus to the most vulnerable, including your favorite grandparents.

No, you won’t remember any of this…

You will remember how much time you got to spend with Mom, Dad and siblings in the house and all of the family fun, snuggle parties and love.

You will remember all of the creative games and shows you came up with and how you utilized all of your toys.

You will remember learning new skills.

You will remember spending time in nature.

You will remember finding new ways to connect with people. You will remember being kind and the kindness of others.

You will remember staying in your PJs till noon and eating all of your favorite foods.

You will remember FaceTiming with your grandparents and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, on a daily basis, seeing more of them than you usually do and taking turns “pushing the red button”.

You will remember how much love you felt when no one from the outside world was allowed into your home.

Remember: this too shall pass. We need to keep a positive attitude and appreciate the silver lining that comes from this time of social isolation.

We’ve all had to pivot in the past few weeks in an effort to keep up with the ever-evolving health guidelines. As most communities are now sheltering in place, the impact on local business is most significant. Here at Red Tricycle, we’ve been pivoting ourselves, and trying to figure out how to best support the local businesses that have been near and dear to our hearts for over a decade. Here’s where we’re at today:

  1. We’ve tweaked our calendar to now support virtual events. If you are hosting any classes, camps or entertainment either on your website or Facebook, you can submit your event via our virtual event submission page and we will publish and promote it ASAP.
  2. We’re encouraging all readers to support local businesses by shopping online, either for merchandise, a gift card or a membership. If you offer any of these shopping opportunities, please submit your info to our online business support page and we will promote your business through various channels including our website, newsletters and social media.
  3. We’re trying to gauge how small business owners are feeling about their business and the economy. Will you take this 4-question survey? Will will share results with all respondents.
  4. We’ve put together a list of financial resources for small businesses, from the SBA, to IRS and Facebook’s small business grants.
  5. We started a closed Facebook Group for family-friendly businesses and event leaders.  We’re brainstorming, collaborating, sharing marketing tips, and helping each other get through this challenging time. If you would like to connect, please join us here.

Thanks and feel free to email us directly with thoughts or concerns.
