João Stanganelli, Jr.’s dolls are getting major props on social media—and for a very good reason. The grandpa from Brazil crochets inclusive dolls, including toys with vitiligo, cochlear implants and so much more.

So how did this grandfather get into the crocheted doll business? Stanganelli’s first crocheted project was a vitiligo doll for his granddaughter. The grandpa has had the skin condition, which results in the loss of pigment since he was in his 30’s. Wanting to give his granddaughter something to remember him by, Stanganelli crafted a doll with vitiligo patches.

The 64-year-old is semi-retired from the gastronomy industry and told Bored Panda, “I’m not yet retired, I still keep up my old work with food, but much less intensely. At the moment I spend 90% of my time with the dolls. I have many orders.”

He told Bored Panda, “My view of vitiligo seems to me to be very different from the general, I think it is necessary first that you have vitiligo, after this acceptance you choose what you want to do.” Stanganelli continued, “I still quote Benjamin Disraeli: ‘Life is too short to be small.’”

Along with vitiligo dolls, Stanganelli has also branched into other inclusive options. Not only are these dolls awesomely adorable, but they can help children understand, value and normalize the conditions Stanganelli crochets.

Chelsea Clinton isn’t the only former first daughter to have a baby recently. Today co-host, and of course daughter of former POTUS George W. Bush, Jenna Bush-Hager gave birth to baby number three last Friday!

It looks like Bush Hager took her maternity leave just in time. The Today co-host said a teary farewell (for now, not for good) on Thursday. By the next day Bush Hager was holding her first son, Henry Harold “Hal” Hager.

So where did little Hal get his name? His first name comes from his father and his middle name, Harold, comes from Bush Hager’s grandfather. If you’re scratching your head and asking, “Harold?,” the name is obviously not from Bush Hager’s paternal grandfather—George Bush. Instead, she named Henry Harold after her maternal grandfather, Harold Welch.

The new mama told Today, “We weren’t exactly sure about the name.” She went on to add, “Then his big sisters called him ‘Hal pal,’ and we thought, ‘This is just perfect.'”

Congrats to Bush-Hager, her hubby Henry and new big sisters Mila and Poppy!

LEGO bricks are awesome, but the pain of stepping on one is not. So what if there was a solution to preventing those tiny, pointy bricks from turning into hazards? One company thinks they have the answer with the Banderbox.

Designed by a parent who knows first hand the pain stray LEGOs can cause, CEO and Co-founder of Snark22, Jared Gistrap wanted to create a product that invited kids to be creative without worrying about losing those wonderful bricks in the carpet. “My grandfather stepped on LEGO bricks, my dad stepped on LEGO bricks, and now I am stepping on LEGO® bricks,” Gistrap said in a statement.

Snark22’s Banderbox is a LEGO storage container comprised of a “Sorting Surface” where mini master builders can lay out their bricks on an open surface that is contained by scooping walls and collapsing sides, making it easy to sift through the bricks without accidentally tossing them out of reach and into the wilds of carpet fibers. The box also features a Creative Zone, which is fitted with a LEGO compatible plate giving kids a spot to build their creations.

So how do you get your hands on one of these incredible boxes? While the Banderbox is not yet available in stores, you can score an early bird discount on the product by backing Snark22’s Indiegogo campaign which is launching soon.

The royal baby watch is on. Even though there’s no official word on when Meghan Markle will give birth, recent travel plans made by the grandfather-to-be may offer a clue as to the due date.

Prince Harry’s father Prince Charles, and his wife Camilla, recently announced a three-day German tour beginning on May 7. Given that past reports put Markle’s due date somewhere between late-April and early-May, it’s possible she’ll deliver sometime before the couples’ trip, starting in Berlin, happens.

Not only that it has just been announced that the Duke of Sussex will visit the Netherlands on Wednesday, May 8, and Thursday, May 9 which further implies the dad-to-be will have already met his own baby royal by then.

The royal couple, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are kind of just like us when it comes to first-time birth plans. At least in terms of having their baby’s grandparents nearby for the birth.

Of course, Markle’s due date isn’t the only piece to her pregnancy puzzle that the world is wondering about. Rumors recently swirled about the mama-to-be’s delivery plans, with speculation galore surrounding whether she’d have a home birth or use a nearby hospital.

Whether it’s when, where or how she’ll give birth, it looks like we’ll all have to wait until baby Sussex makes their grand debut before we know anything for a fact. But then again, if Prince Charles’ German itinerary is a true clue, the wait is almost over.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Finally Get an Instagram Account of Their Very Own

Sneak a Peek at Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s Birth Plan

On Sunday, Kensington Palace released Prince Louis’ official christening photos. And, as you would totally expect of the royal family, they’re absolutely stunning.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child was the center of England’s attention on Jul. 9. Little Prince Louis’ christening was a full-family event that included his mum and dad (obviously) along with plenty of other royalty.

The official portraits, taken by photographer Matt Holyoak, feature a who’s who of the British royal family. Pictured in the all-too-elegant family portrait are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (or as Louis knows them—mum and dad). Prince Louis’ big bro and sis (Prince George and Princess Charlotte), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (a.k.a. Prince Harry and new bride Meghan Markle), the Prince of Wales (Louis’ grandfather, Prince Charles) and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The portrait didn’t just include the royals. Along with the various dukes, duchesses, princes and princess were Kate Middleton’s family—her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as little sister Pippa Matthews and her husband James, and “little” bro, James Middleton.

The christening photos also included sweet pics of Prince William, Kate and their kiddos as well as two stunning photos of just mum and baby.

Noticeably absent from the family portrait? The Queen. Even though Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the christening, there is a gentle reminder of Louis’ great-grandmother in the pics. The fam photo includes a portrait of the Queen, hanging just over Michael Middleton’s shoulder!

Prince George & Princess Charlotte Are Totes Just Like Regular Kiddos

Two years ago after a particularly ugly loss to the Raiders, someone said to me, “A wise person wouldn’t get too emotionally attached to the Broncos this season.”

It was way too late for that!

Let me tell you a story…

In 1960 my Grandfather invested in some season tickets for a team we call the Denver Broncos. He went to every single home game, as well as a couple of Broncos Super Bowl losses. On occasion, my parents got to go to a game at which point my siblings and I would go to our others grandparents’ house where my Nanny and Grandad would teach and later grill us about the rules of the game. And when the weather totally sucked (and no one else wanted to go) we kids would get the opportunity to go to the game with my Grandfather.

Which meant most of the time, we watched them on TV, every single weekend, we watched the Broncos with my Mom and Dad. My Mom whooping it up, my Dad couch quarterbacking and the kids soaking it all up, learning the plays and memorizing the roster.

Fast forward – those same tickets are still held in our family, priority number 139. Every Broncos home game you can count on Uncle Pete, my brother Ryan and assorted other O’Mearas and Kimmels to cheer on the home team. And every so often, the kids, my grandfather’s great grandkids, get the chance to go.

So, you ask, why are the Denver Broncos so near and dear to my heart? It comes down to one thing….family.

Football is family.

Tonight, it’s true tonight more than ever. You see, my dear Dad passed away three weeks ago, so tonight is the first time in my life that I’m watching the Broncos game without him.

Don’t get me wrong, there were lots of games where we watched from separate places, but I knew he was paying attention. I knew he’d be complaining about that infrequent shovel pass he always hated; I knew he’d be rolling his eyes while chanting  “In-com-plete” in his living room and I could practically hear his infamous “noooo” when he didn’t like what he saw.

And of course, those same thoughts are playing in my head tonight…but it’s just not the same.

As I sit here tonight watching our favorite team kick off their season, the finality of his death is staring to hit. And hit hard.

As I write this post, this game is getting close and I can feel my anxiety building. And suddenly it feels like a whole lot more than just a game, it feels like an epic battle. A classic Broncos 4th quarter battle, so many of which we celebrated winning together. Surely my beloved Broncos are going to honor my Dad with a win, right?

Flash back to that comment a couple of years ago. That very year, my beloved Broncos won Super Bowl 50 – an amazing win by the under dog. Every minute of it enjoyed by our family despite the fact we didn’t watch it together. Once again, a game bringing us closer.

So tonight, I lean on those memories of my Dad to get me through because I know one thing for sure. For this Momma, football is, and always will be, about family.

As a working mom with three boys...one his, one mine, one ours...I frequently find myself talking about motherhood with other women. For some strange reason, some of them think I have the answers...trust me, I don't. But I do know one thing...this mom shit is hard!

The Internet can’t handle this grandfather’s show of love for his baby granddaughter. It started when Sabrina Gonzalez, mother of 5-month-old Madeline Jane, made a joke about a giant teddy bear she saw at Costco to her dad. “Maddie needs one of those’”

Sure enough, grandpa got it.

Sabrina tweeted the gift, and people are going wild with over 45,000 retweets.

And just for size, the bear’s foot is bigger than Madeline!

Oh, look at that smile.

For 13 years, the Lair family had boy after boy. . . until their seventh child turned out to be a girl. In this video, the six brothers meet their new baby sister – and their reactions range from adorable to amusing. Five-year-old Houston, for example, is worried about his sister’s potential affinity for pink: “I don’t like pink because it’s a girl’s color,” he said. Dance like no one’s watching… is probably the motto for this granddad-to-be. Luckily for him (and us), Justin Hall placed a hidden camera to capture his in-laws’ expression when they found out there was a little one two months along the way. This adorable and hilarious reaction is so close to making the case for hidden cameras at every surprise event.

On any given weekend, we need few excuses to visit the unique collection of restaurants, brew pubs and retail shops that line the sidewalks of N Mississippi Avenue. But on Saturday, July 11, this family-friendly neighborhood will play host to the Mississippi Street Fair, Portland’s largest street fair and one of the city’s most beloved annual community gatherings. Read on to find out why you have to go.

photo: Deanna N. via Yelp

Music and Activities
With tens of thousands of people expected to attend this year’s fair, organizers have lined up more than 40 bands to perform on six stages (keep track of the full schedule here). Families in particular should be sure to stop by Mississippi Pizza—not only for the tasty pies, but to catch a musical performance on its sponsored Kids Stage.

Children will find other fun activities among the 200 vendors expected at the fair, as the New Seasons Kids Zone will set up shop at N Mississippi Avenue & N Beech Street. And they’ll also be overjoyed to find a dunk tank at N Failing Street from 1-5:30 p.m.—providing both a cool antidote to the summer heat and a perfect way for kids to seek revenge on their unsuspecting parents.

Food and Drink
Because N Mississippi Avenue is home to so many restaurants, food carts and beer purveyors, it’s no surprise that these local favorites will play a starring role at the street fair. Meat lovers shouldn’t miss the Grandfather’s Rib-Off Competition, which will be judged at 3 p.m., while kids will appreciate a stop at Ruby Jewel for one of their famous hand-crafted ice cream sandwiches, like their drool-worthy lemon cookie honey lavender ice cream concoction. Parents can keep an eye out for the beer and wine gardens. They’ll be open from noon-8:30 p.m.

Getting There
To make the most of your family experience at the Mississippi Street Fair, keep a few things in mind. Street closures can make parking a bit difficult, so consider making the journey by bike, bus or MAX. For complete information on street closures, detours, public transportation and parking, click here.

Volunteer
The proceeds of the Mississippi Street Fair will benefit the Boise-Eliot School and Self Enhancement Inc., but that’s not the only way you can help the community. Interested in volunteering at the street fair? Find details here, and get a free t-shirt, snacks and a beer token for your efforts.
