Even though your summer vaycay is still yet to happen, there’s no reason to stop your travel planning now. And if your vacation plans also include fab fall or winter family getaways, check out the new airline routes you’ll want to fly!

Whether you want to fly internationally or have domestic daydreams, it looks like some of the major airlines have fall flights to some pretty desirable destinations. While some of the new routes aren’t slated to start until 2020, it’s never too early to start fantasizing about the future.

Tokyo-bound travelers will have plenty of new options, including 12 new flights to Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport from the United States. Each new route is expected to start before the 2020 Summer Olympics.

According to Travel and Leisure, the Department of Transportation recently approved the new routes, including daily flights on American Airlines from Dallas Fort Worth and Los Angeles International Airport (in 2020). Delta will add flights to Haneda from Seattle, Detroit, Atlanta, Portland and Honolulu. United will also add routes, with a tentative approval for nonstop flights from Newark, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington Dulles.

If Taipei, Taiwan is on your to-visit list, EVA Air’s Hello Kitty Hand-in-hand Jet will start flying from San Francisco on Oct. 27 twice a week. The airline will ramp up the schedule to three days a week beginning Dec. 1.

Domestic travelers flying out of Boston’s Logan International Airport can take advantage of an increased route schedule from the northeastern city to warm, sunny Miami, Orlando, Fort Meyers, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach starting Dec. 21.

The school year is almost in the books and that means your kiddo is about to embark on a months-long learning-less vaycay––or not. PBS KIDS recently announced a summer-time lineup of new shows and new web-based fun that is bound to keep everyone happy for the season.

PBS KIDS kicks off the summer with its new animated children’s series Molly of Denali and a new special from Ready Jet Go! Along with the show debuts, PBS KIDS for Parents is bringing moms and dads a new website with articles, tips and show-connected activities galore.

If you’re not sure how to help your out-of-school littles learn over the summer, the new PBS KIDS for Parents site has thousands of free resources. Along with articles and other info, the site also includes “Camp PBS KIDS.” This online area allows kids and parents to explore topics ranging from world cultures to cooking with math together.

When it comes to summer series, the newest member of the PBS KIDS family, Molly of Denali, premiers and streams on pbskids.org as well as the PBS KIDS Video app on Jul. 15. As the first U.S. children’s series to feature a Native American lead, the show follows young Molly Mabary on all kinds of exciting adventures.

The 10-year-old, along with her dog Suki and friends Tooey and Trini, will help your little learner (ages four through eight) to develop knowledge-based skills by interacting with everything from historical texts to maps and charts. Extend the learning with the Molly of Denali app (which launches in August), digital games (in July) and a podcast prequel.

Fans of Ready Jet Go! Will enjoy the all-new Ready Jet Go!: One Small Step. The space-themed special debuts on PBS stations nationwide and starts streaming Jun. 17. Along with the special, PBS KIDS is also rolling out (also in June) the Ready Jet Go! Space Scouts app.

Check your PBS station’s local listings for more information on air dates and times.

Thousands of miles off the ground isn’t exactly the place most moms envision welcoming their babies, but when one mom gave birth on a JetBlue flight, she earned an unexpected perk—and the birth story of a lifetime.

According to USA TODAY, a flight en route to Fort Lauderdale, Florida from San Juan, Puerto Rico gained an extra passenger when an expectant mom gave birth mid-flight. The crew responded quickly as the mom went into labor and welcomed JetBlue’s “youngest customer to date.”

In honor of the birth JetBlue tweeted that it would be renaming the airplane, which was already aptly named “Born to be Blue” after the baby, and promised more baby gifts to come. In 2017, a baby born onboard the Indian airline Jet Airways earned free flights for life, so it’s a good guess that this newborn has a future of free jet-setting ahead of him as well.

The name of the baby has not yet been released, but both mom and baby are reportedly doing fine.

You’ve heard of helicopter parenting. But what about “jet fighter” parenting? Between helicopters, snow plows and lawnmowers, tiger moms, free-rangers and all the other “types” of parents, it might seem like there isn’t possibly room for one more. But then again, the term get fighter does sound pretty rad. So what is it, exactly?

While jet fighter parenting isn’t exactly a new term and it hasn’t enjoyed the media popularity of helicopter parents, jet fighter parents started making their mark years ago. Before Millennials grew up enough to start really adulting, Gen X parents actually started the jet fighter trend.

Photo: Doug Kelley via Unsplash

Let’s start with a bit of a parenting history lesson. Once upon a time there were just parents. No tiger moms, no helicopters, just plain ol’ parents who let their kids be kids. But then the world got scary. Or rather, the media brought the scariness of the world into American homes with the ubiquity of the television. As parents started witnessing the big bads of the world on the nightly news, they started to hover—and thus, the helicopter parent was born.

As those hovered-over kids grew into Gen X adults with their own kids, they developed their own parenting style. Instead of the constant hovering of a helicopter, the jet fighter parent waits in the wings and swoops in when needed. Think of the jet fighter as “partial-helicopter” or “helicopter-light.”

So now you’re probably wondering, “Hey, am I a jet fighter parent?” Chances are you are—but maybe only at certain times. It’s totally understandable. Who wouldn’t want to swoop in, save the day and get out immediately after?

In a similar vein as Finding Dory, this road-trip style storyline has one delusional pup trying to find his way back home. It's one of Disney’s lesser-known titles, but the whole family will instantly fall in love with it. If you really need a Pixar fix though, check out Coco.

As if having two famous parents wasn’t enough, imagine getting to jet-set across the globe and visit some of the most iconic sights that anyone would want to see. Angelina Jolie took her kids to the Louvre, and we’re kind of jealous. Yeah, you’ve taken your kiddos to the museum before. But the Louvre? It’s not exactly a staycation day or a trip across town. Right? Well, we’ve got the scoop on the Jolie brood’s day at the Louvre.

What do you do on a typical Tuesday? Maybe you hit Starbucks for a seasonal Frappuccino, take the kids to Target and head to the playground for a pre-k playgroup meet-up. Not Jolie. The super-stylish mama to six took Maddox (16), Pax (14), Zahara (13), Shiloh (11) and Knox and Vivienne (both 9) to the Louvre on a recent Tuesday.

The A-list actress was reportedly in Paris to film a perfume commercial for the iconic Guerlain cosmetics company. Like any working mama, Jolie carved some time out of her work trip to spend with her kids. So we guess that means she’s just like us? Um, probably not.
