20 Incredible Vacations You Haven’t Taken Yet

Want to book a UK or European vacation this summer? Your low-cost overseas travel dreams are about to come true. JetBlue recently announced flights to London and we’ve got the deets for you!

The new routes, which will fly out of Boston and New York City, are set to start in the not-so-distant future. As the carrier’s first European destination, the London moves is making waves on both sides of the pond.

President and chief operating officer, JetBlue, Joanna Geraghty, said in a press release, “Twenty years ago, our founders had a simple formula for choosing a new market – it had to be overpriced, underserved or both.” Geraghty went on to add, “London is the largest metro area JetBlue doesn’t yet serve from both Boston and New York, and we could not be more thrilled to be changing that in the years ahead. The fares being charged today by airlines on these routes, specifically on the premium end, are enough to make you blush.”

Instead of having to choose between the typical high-priced business class fares or low-quality coach seats, JetBlue is reimagining the trans-Atlantic flight experience. The carrier’s Mint class will feature lie-flat seats and specially trained crewmembers. Geraghty said, of Mint, “he success Mint has had on driving down the exorbitant airfares that our competitors were charging, stimulating new demand and forcing the entrenched carriers to up their game, is a big reason we believe London is the next natural market for JetBlue to be successful and make a positive impact on consumers.”

While there’s no specific start date yet, JetBlue plans on offering its United States to London flights in 2021.

Here’s Every Day Your Kid Can Fly for Free on Frontier Airlines

When you have kids a Disney vacation is undoubtedly at the top of every bucket list, but what about a trip to every Disney destination in the world? A Disneyphile’s dream would be a global excursion to visit every Disney Park on Earth, but how much would that really cost?

If you’re considering a family vacation to every Disney theme park around the world, GoBankingRates.com has done the homework for you on how much you’ll need to save up to make it happen and you’re going to need a very big piggy bank. The website compiled the cost of visiting each of Disney’s six resorts based on admission to the parks and lodging. However, the totals don’t include airfare and food in most cases.

photo: Scott Brinegar/Disneyland

The grand total for just one adult based on peak season rates is $6,936.13, which breaks down per resort as follows:

  • Walt Disney World Resort in Florida: $2,157.87 (package includes meals and airport transfers)
  • Disneyland Resort in California: $1,181.55 (includes transportation to/from the park from your hotel)
  • Shanghai Disney Resort: $565.64
  • Tokyo Disney Resort: $441.36
  • Hong Kong Disneyland Resort: $639.54
  • Disneyland Resort Paris: $1,320.17

So what does that equate to for a family of four? With all four family members over the age of three, the grand total would be close to $28,000. Of course child admission is slightly less than an adult entry at most parks, but when you factor in all the extra candy and souvenirs that come with kids, it pretty much evens out. Time to start saving up!

Parenting your kids after a divorce or separation isn’t always easy, but Anna Faris and Chris Pratt give us awesome life goals on how to co-parent.

In a recent interview with divorce attorney Laura Wasser for her Divorce Sucks! podcast, Faris revealed her hopes for the future of co-parenting with ex Pratt. Despite Pratt’s engagement to Katherine Schwarzenegger and Faris’ relationship with photographer Micheal Barrett, the parents remain committed to keeping their six-year-old son Jack their number one priority.

“Grudge-holding is not something that Chris and I do. So, we wanted to make sure, of course, that Jack [their son] was happy, but that we were happy and supportive of each other and that we could have this fantasy idea of, do we all spend Christmas together? Do we all vacation together? How do we make sure that everybody that we love feels safe, and that we also respect the love we have for each other?” Faris said on the podcast.

Faris said her hope is that as Jack grows older they will “have group Thanksgiving dinners together and to be at that place.” Under the terms of their divorce, Pratt and Faris agreed to live within five miles of each other until Jack is in sixth grade so it’s definitely possible to make joint holidays happen.

Faris has also made it clear that she has no bitterness towards Pratt’s new fiancée and believes they are both great people. “Under all of these un-coupling circumstances, I think that we are so good and respectful toward each other,” Faris said. “I think there is so much kindness and love, and I know we want to get to that ultimate goal—and I know it sounds lame and optimistic—but that’s what I want.”

I typed away at my desk. It was my first day back at work after a family vacation. Reentry after vacation is never easy. Just yesterday, we donned flip flops and our favorite swimwear. Today, I helped the kids into their boots and snow pants, they were not pleased. My own transition from afternoon rum drinks to Folger’s coffee was just as unpleasant.

Upon returning to work, my coworkers singularly paraded into my office. Their mission was to recap my vacation with me. My bronzed skin and sunburnt lips shared a glimpse into my tropical adventure. The first question out of the gate was always, “Did you go with your kids?”

There is a motherhood/old wives’ tale that suggests that you can’t actually have an enjoyable vacation with your children and in fact, it should just be called a “trip.” A trip because you do all of the same things you do as the mom in command at home, just in a new location.

Maybe it’s because my vacation days are limited or the funding I have to take these trips is also limited, but I reject the notion that moms can’t have an enjoyable vacation with their kids. The truth is, I have taken “trips” with my kids and it took time to soak in those “mom on location” trips to figure out how to actually pivot to relaxing and enjoying time with my kids on vacation.

What’s my secret? Our vacation is just for us.

The first thing I learned about moving from trip to vacation is to identify the vacations that fit us and our kids. What we do on vacation should not fit all families. And most importantly, just because other people go certain places or engage in certain activities on vacation, doesn’t mean that it is right for us. There may be nuggets of wisdom in places or activities from vacation review sites, but we plan for a vacation just for us.

How We Make Food Less Stressful

I’m a foodie but I release my foodie expectations on vacation. I write recipes and help moms with meal planning and easy recipes for their families. On vacation with my kids, I release my food rules, the need to meal plan for the week or even go to fancy restaurants. It doesn’t work well when we have someone else tell us when we eat our meals, we learned the hard way on that one.

On a recent vacation, our dinner time was scheduled for us at 8:30 p.m. and my son promptly placed his head down on the table and fell asleep mid-dinner. On vacation, we do what’s easy and enjoyable when it comes to meals.

On our latest vacation, we sought out early dinners that were buffet-st‌yle or kids eat free. Gourmet for every meal? Nope. However, I didn’t cook a single meal—and that’s a vacation for me.

How We Make Activities Work for Us

On one of our “trips,” we were given a sheet of paper with no less than 100 options for the day’s activities. That doesn’t work for us and it was only until I totally overbooked us did I learn from this epic trip failure. Vacation to us is relaxing which is defined by no pre-booked early morning activities (sleeping in is not yet an option), swimming, spontaneous activities and fun activities with my kids.

I make a point of having at least one meaningful, fun activity with my kids each vacation. What’s funny is I inevitably have more than just one fun experience, however, it gives me the connection I crave with my kids.

We Always Make Time for “The One Thing”

Before every vacation, I check in with each member of my family and establish The One Thing they really hope to do on vacation. It’s like vacation goal-setting. And I honor their request and have one of those activities happen on vacation. Ironically, each members’ “one thing” usually seeps into our other family members’ joy on the trip.

Other Helpful, Sanity-Saving Hacks

While there are a few key pieces that have helped me move from trip to vacation in motherhood, there are also a few other things that we’ve found significantly help our level of enjoyment. The first is that we plan for adult-only vacations and not try and combine those vacations with our children.

If we can swing it financially, it is worth us having a separate sleeping space from the kids. Again, if we logistically and financially can swing it, a direct flight always seems to be a better travel experience for all of us and for us, even worth extra money. Finally and perhaps most important for us, kids club.

We recently traveled and stumbled upon our hotel’s kids club. During our vacation the kids spent one hour a day and it meant my husband and I could talk without interruption, enjoy a Pina Colada together or even read our books in peace.

Are our vacations perfect? Absolutely not. We battle kids fighting, illness, cancellations and even adult temper tantrums. Hello, guilty! Our trips are not perfect, but perfect for us. And I think when you can find that place, you can move from a trip to vacation in motherhood.

16 LEGOLAND Secrets You Need to Know Before You Go

Should I Take My Kid to LEGOLAND or Disney World?

There is some good news for expectant moms hoping for a babymoon or vacation getaway: Zika travel warnings for pregnant women have been eased significantly by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Pregnant travelers and those hoping to conceive can rest a little easier knowing that the Zika virus that swept the globe in a widespread outbreak the past few years seems to have passed its peak. The CDC has downgraded its Zika warning to American travelers and the World Health Organization will be doing the same.

photo: Nelly Aran via Pexels

Instead of avoiding travel to certain countries entirely, the CDC’s newly updated recommendation is that women who are pregnant or trying to conceive should check with their health providers about the risk if Zika when making travel plans.

“Where there are those big outbreaks, we’re definitely going to tell you not to go,” said Martin Cetron, director of the CDC’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine. “Where there is a range of possibilities, from no Zika to low-level background Zika, we’re going to tell you there’s been virus there before; it could still be there. If you’re a zero-risk person, don’t go. If you’re not, you decide.”
