Recall Alert: Hallmark Recalls Teethers Due to Choking Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall for Hallmark teethers. The Teether Rings come with decorative fabric, plush attachments and a wooden ring that can break into small pieces and pose a choking hazard.

Approximately 15,500 teethers were sold in the United States from Jun. 2015 through Jun. 2021 for $10 to $25. The products were purchased from Hallmark Gold Crown stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, boutique gift shops and at hallmark.com.

This recall applies to 11 different styles of round teethers, each sold with a gray woven brand label with the Hallmark brand crown and a hangtag. They were described as either “Plush and Wood Teether and Rattle” or “Wood and Detachable Cloth Teether for Little Droolers.”

Recalled teethers will have date codes of JUL15, 1117, 0618, 0719, or 1020. Parents can check specific SKU codes on the CPSC website here.

If you have a teether subject to the recall, immediately take away from children and contact Hallmark for a $25 gift card. Hallmark can be reached at 800-425-5627 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or online at hallmark.com/recall

Museum Day Is Back & Here’s How You Can Get Free Tickets

Museum Day is this weekend! The annual event offers free admission to museums across the country and celebrates our country’s diverse cultural experiences. There’s availability at loads of locations for you to grab your downloadable ticket, with participants in all 50 states.

Each ticket will grant the holder and one guest timed access to any participating museum on September 18. You can download one ticket per email address, so the whole family can enjoy, but note that you can only choose one museum for a free ticket. Some museums that offer free children’s admission will not require a kid’s ticket for this event, but you may want to contact your chosen spot in advance to be safe. Participating locations will have safety precautions in place to protect against the ongoing pandemic.

This is the 17th annual Museum Day and it’s particularly special, since many museums faced long closures due to COVID-19. The Smithsonian Magazine created the event to commit to access, equity and inclusion. You can see a full list of participating museums and get your downloadable ticket through the magazine’s website.

The event is sponsored by The Quaker Oats Company and the company is also running an instant win giveaway program through September 15. Participants can enter to win one of 100 Smithsonian Science kits per day! Currently, the Costco website only has 5 costumes all priced at $33. That’s why we recommend heading to your local store where you can not only save almost $10 per costume, but have plenty more to choose from, too.

At first glance, we’ve already spotted Carter’s infant costumes, Disney princess dresses, Pikachu and Marvel-inspired options.

Recall Alert: UPPAbaby Adapters Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

UPPAbaby has recalled certain RumbleSeat accessory adaptors because they can become detached, posing a fall hazard to children. So far, the company has received 135 reports of detachments and 77 incidents resulting in injuries that include two broken noses.

The accessory attached to UPPAbaby strollers with two plastic adaptors and impacts RumbleSeat Models 0252, 0917 and 0918. The adaptors were sold at baby and children’s speciality stores from Oct. 2014 through Jul. 2019 for $180 to $200.

To see if your RumbleSeat is part of the recall, you can locate the model numbers on the underside of the seat, and also check if your adaptor has yellow tabs, per the photo above. Parents can also head to uppababy.com to get more info.

If your adaptor does not have yellow tags, stop using it immediately and contact UPPAbaby via the website to fill out information for a free replacement adaptor set.

Give Back With Girl Scout Cookies: Here’s How to Donate to Everyday Heroes

The pandemic changed almost everything this past year, including everyone’s fave time of the year, Girl Scout Cookie season! With so many girls staying safe, cookie sales were far below their goal, which means one thing: lots of leftover cookies.

The Girl Scouts currently have 15 million boxes of cookies that have not been sold, most of which are at Louisville, Kentucky-based Little Brownie Bakers and Brownsburg, Indiana-based ABC Bakers. The famed cookies have a 12 months shelf-life which means there is still plenty of time to get those delightful treats into loving hands.

In a statement from the Girl Scouts of America, the organization shares “The outpouring of support for the cookie program has been overwhelming, so we’ve launched a donation-only site to support the Girl Scout Movement after an unprecedented year. Please visit Digital Cookie if you want to support the cookie program and donate cookies to first responders, food banks and other worthy causes.”

On the website, you can enter how many boxes you’d like to donate, which are still a steal at $5 a box. There’s no sweeter gift that a box of Girl Scout cookies!

Here’s How Kids Can Earn Free Books from Barnes & Noble This Summer

Looking for a fun way to keep your kids excited about reading this summer? How about free books!

When you sign your young readers up at Barnes & Noble you can spend the whole summer reading––and earn some free books to tuck them in at bedtime when school starts again. So how does it work?

When students in grades one through six read eight books over the summer and complete a reading journal, they can earn a free book at Barnes & Noble. All you need to do is download the journal here and print it.

Then, complete the information requested and have your kids log the books they’ve read over the summer. Turn in the journal at any Barnes & Noble location between July. 1 and Aug. 31, 2021.

Once completed, kids are able to choose from a pre-set list of free books grouped by grade level. The list includes titles like Malala: My Story of Standing Up for Girls’ Rights, Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer and Because of Winn-Dixie.

The Barnes & Noble reading program website also offers suggested reading lists if your kids need some ideas on what to read.
