My Latest, Greatest Budget Discovery

Give the kids a travel allowance. This is something I found while researching this article, and wow, does it work. Tell the kids they can each have a set amount for the day to spend on snacks and souvenirs (I figure $15 to 20 each, depending on the schedule for the day), and whatever they don’t spend, they can keep. Then watch them turn down one junky treat after another, because it’s “not worth the money.” In the end, you’ll spend less and enjoy yourself more, because you’ve magically left all the begging behind.
