Trending Now

Cooker lovers, there has been a Whole Foods recall so you’ll want to check your pantry. Whole Foods Market brand oatmeal raisin cookies have been voluntarily recalled in eight Midwestern states because the product contains soy flour, a potential allergen that was not listed on the label. Representatives for Whole Foods did not immediately return Red Tricycle’s request for comment.

According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the recall was announced on Jun. 29 and applies to Whole Foods Market brand cookies only; it was discovered when the cookie supplier notified the company of an unannounced ingredient change.

Recall Product Description: Whole Foods Market Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

The recalled cookies only include oatmeal raisin cookies by the Whole Foods Market brand. They were purchased in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin in an 18-count plastic container.

Why It Was Recalled

The oatmeal raisin cookies were recalled because they contain soy flour, which was not disclosed on the label. Consumers with soy allergies can have life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the cookies; according to the recall notice from the FDA, no illnesses have been reported so far.

How to Tell if Your Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Are Part of the Recall

Only cookies purchased in the eight states listed above are part of the recall. The cookies also have a PLU beginning with 23209 and sell by dates from Jun. 4 through Jul. 8, 2018.

What Parents Can Do

Parents can bring a valid receipt showing the purchase of the affected cookies to any Whole Foods store for a full refund, or contact customer service at 1-844-936-8255 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Central, Monday through Friday, or between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central Saturday and Sunday.
