Will Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl LII Halftime Show Be Family-Friendly? This Group Wants to Make Sure

Trending Now

By now pretty much everyone on the planet already knows that Justin Timberlake will perform at the Super Bowl LII Halftime Show. Um yeah, we know…JT is kind of famous (rather infamous) for the 2004 Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” that not-so-affectionately was dubbed “Nipplegate.” Even though the whole ripping Jackson’s top partially off, in a premeditated nip-slip, thing was a full 14 years ago, some parents are concerned that the 2018 halftime show will have a similarly ‘inappropriate’ act.

More specifically, the Parents Television Council (PTC) has written an open letter to the singer, asking that Timberlake avoid a repeat performance. The letter starts off nice enough. The PTC notes that much has changed in the 14 years since “Nipplegate.” Not only do they applaud Timberlake as a “generous philanthropist,” but they also write, “And you’ve brought us joy through your music and film performances.”

But then the letter takes a turn. Writing that, “The fallout of your performance during Super Bowl XXXVIII has left an indelible mark. You really threw us – and millions of parents who were watching with their kids” the PTC asks Timberlake to keep his 2018 show, “friendly and safe for the children watching.”

Yeah, we can’t be sure what the performer has up his sleeve. But we’re fairly certain that Justin Timberlake, the dad, doesn’t want to do anything that will offend his (or anyone else’s) kiddo’s eyes.
