Thursday, Nov. 21 (Thanksgiving Day)

  • 6 a.m. Nothing. Nothing is open. But you can still get last minute groceries from stores like Whole Foods, Albertsons, Kroger, Ralphs and H-E-B because no matter how prepared you might be, there’s always something you might need at the last minute.
  • 3 p.m. As you put the finishing touches on your Thanksgiving dinner, here’s what’s open:
    • Early diners can head over to Old Navy starting in the afternoon on Thanksgiving. Stock up on $1 cozy socks, 50% off your purchase and styles from $5. This is one store where you can shop ’til you drop––the retailer is staying open through Friday at 10 p.m.
    • Check off gifts for the gamers in your life at Game Stop, which stays open until 10 p.m.
  • 5 p.m. Runners, take your marks! If you aren’t already in line then you better hustle because doors open on the dot for most retailers come Thanksgiving Day.
    • Put that pie in a to-go container and get your tush to Target because the bullseye retailer is opening its doors at 5 p.m. and staying open until 1 a.m on Friday. Check out The Best Target Black Friday 2018 Deals (& Cyber Monday, Too) to get your list in order before the mad dash.
    • Macy’s kicks off their traditional three-day sale starting at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and you can shop until 2 a.m. if you have both an enormous shopping list and disposable income.
    • Why wait until Black Friday to shop at Best Buy when you can shop post-turkey? You don’t want to miss insane doorbusters like a $130 TV and $7 Blu-Rays. Take your time because the store is open until 1 a.m.
    • You’ll feel rich when you shop the Kohl’s Black Friday sale starting at 5 p.m. and collect all that Kohl’s cash! Sales run differently for the retailer, continuing through the night and stopping at 1 p.m. Friday, but where else can you buy pajamas and a vacuum in the same store?
  • 6 p.m. If you’re not yet in a tryptophan-induced food coma, the next wave of stores opens now.
    • No need to change out of your pajamas when you head to Walmart (because honestly, nobody else does either) after Thanksgiving dinner. Unlike the previous retailers, Walmart is delaying its opening, but they are offering Light Up Black Friday parties from 4 to 6 p.m. with cookies and coffee to keep you occupied until their doors open.
    • Score up to 65% off when Dick’s Sporting Goods opens their doors. The retailer claims this is their “best Black Friday sale ever” and we spy tons of sales on items like weight sets and winter vests. You can shop until 2 a.m.
    • You never know when shopping at Sears may become a thing of the past, so be sure to check out the big sale on Thanksgiving Day. The store is offering up to $250 cash back on eligible purchases and tons of savings on appliances and tools.
  • Online: Forget waiting in lines and fighting over the newest Hatchimals—shop online this year. Tons of retailers are offering Thanksgiving Day-specific sales, like Costco.

As a reminder, there are lots of stores that keep their doors shuttered on Thanksgiving Day. Do yourself a favor and don’t try to get in line on the big day for stores like Home Depot, Nordstrom, Dillards, Costco, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Barnes & Noble. Just enjoy that football game and extra piece of cake. There’s always tomorrow!

Friday, Nov. 22 (Black Friday)

  • 5 a.m. Grab your travel mug of coffee or hot cocoa, because it’s go time.
    • If you’ve finally decided to give in and get the kids that huge, backyard trampoline then you’ll want to get to Dick’s Sporting Goods because its almost 50 percent off. Golf accessories, boots and more await at this huge sale.
    • Sears is open for business! If you’re been waiting to score a new fridge, be sure to check out the 40 perfect off offerings, including a Kenmore version that’s up to 55 perfect off!
  • 6 a.m. Macy’s took a break to attempt to straighten up but they’re back with more doorbusters. Just be ready to shop the usual mayhem of a disheveled department store.
  • 7 a.m. A more reasonable hour to get your Black Friday shopping started.
    • Now that you’ve had your six-hour nap, Target re-opens and you’re legit wondering if it’s worth getting out of bed for it. Remember the deals from yesterday? Yeah, they’re still there in case you missed them.
    • If you missed Game Stop yesterday, then head over and snag $100 off xBox and Playstation bundles.
  • 8 a.m. Best Buy has rebooted and ready to sell you a new HDTV that you didn’t know you needed. Sure, you came in to shop for someone else but there’s no harm in getting a little something for yourself, right?
  • 9 a.m. If you don’t get to Costco then you’ll never get a $250 iPad, $70 off an xBox One X or $500 off a Dell laptop. Oh, and don’t forget your post-turkey sample haul.
  • Don’t forget that stores like Old Navy and Walmart never closed their doors from Thanksgiving and while they may be overpriced and exhausted, you’ll still score some great deals.

Now, who’s ready for some shopping?
