KoKo NYC is the youth education initiative of Open Source Gallery. In STEAM-based workshops kids use real tools and recycled materials to invent their imagination. We are excited to announce 10 weeks of summer workshops at The KoKo Lot. “The Lot” is our outdoor, sustainable workspace filled with found objects, recycled materials, and all the tools necessary to transform trash into treasure.

Soap Box 2023

Ages: 8-14

1-week camp: $725

In the Soap Box Workshop, kids turn found objects and recycled materials into fully functioning gravity racers. Throughout the week-long workshop kids learn engineering skills and get to express their natural ingenuity in building their cars.  At the annual South Slope Derby, participants get to race their cars for real as friends, families, and neighbors cheer them on.

Camp KoKo 2023

Ages: 5-7

1-week camp: $650

In our outdoor workshop kids engage in hands-on material exploration and building activities. It is specifically designed for kids ages 5-7, where they use recycled and found objects as inspiration to build and play, guided by our Teaching Artist’s fun ideas for project themes.
