You’ve planned your budget for the year and clipped your coupons, and now you’re wondering—what’s next when it comes to saving a buck? We know life can get expensive, so we found 20 ways to put cash back into your wallet. From ditching the plastic water bottle to packing your own snacks, here’s how to save up to $5 a day, starting now.
1. Cancel subscriptions you don't use. You can use a service like Trim to automatically detect subscription charges and easily save up to $5 per day by canceling music, audiobook and tv streaming services, beauty boxes, magazine or newspaper subscriptions, water delivery services, etc.
2. Get a reusable water bottle. On average, a bottle of water costs around $1.50 (or more if you don't buy in bulk!). If you drink three or four a day, that's over $5 a day. Get an insulated water bottle, and start filling up on your own. Not only will you see immediate savings, but you'll help prevent plastic bottles from filling landfills and polluting oceans.
3. Look for free or cheap entertainment. There are plenty of ways to save while out and about with the kids. Take advantage of your zoo or museum membership, go to a park, hit up the library, look for free festivals and more.
4. Don't make expensive meals. Do your kids love seafood or filet mignon? Yeah, save those recipes for special occasions. Instead, use ingredients that'll give you more bang for your buck. For example, these dinner ideas each cost $15 or less. For a family of four or more, that's $5 back in the bank every time you cook.
5. Eliminate one convenient thing from your routine. We know you'd rather send your clothes the dry cleaner than handwash them, and of course, a salon pedicure is always a treat, but eliminating these small items and doing the tasks at home, even once in a while, is guaranteed to save you money.
6. Pack your snacks. Whether you're at the park or the office, bring snacks from home with you, so you don't have to dole out dollars for overpriced packaged items (especially when you're at theme parks or other places that charge a small fortune for food).
8. Stay out of Target/Walmart/Costco. It's a given that the more often you wander the aisles of your favorite bulk store, the more often you'll end up with stuff you don't need. Try going once every other week. We guarantee your wallet will see the difference.
9. Go to your own bank's ATM. If you hit up a cash machine that isn't your bank, you'll get hit with a fee (sometimes it's almost $4!), plus, your bank charges you too. If you need cash, plan and stop by your bank.
10. Let those items sit in your shopping cart for one more day. We've all been guilty of loading up our online shopping carts with more than we need. If you hang tight for a day or two, it's a good chance you might decide against a few items.
11. Look for free workouts or work out at home. Sign up for the newsletters and subscribe to the Facebook pages of your favorite studios. They often offer promotions for new clients and discounts for bringing a friend. Or, check out some of our favorite (and free) 15-minute workouts for busy parents.
12. Bike/walk/take the bus to school/work. You'll save big on gas if you can bike to school (or work). If you don't live close enough to bike in, carpool with neighbors (or put your kids on the bus) and co-workers so you don't have to fuel up your car as often—and you'll also get to use the carpool lane––it's a win-win.
13. Make stuff in bulk.Make-ahead meals are as popular as ever, for both the time it saves on a busy weeknight and the budget-friendly portions you'll have in the freezer.
14. Shop without the kids. If you can, it's better to shop sans kids, who tend to toss unwanted items into the cart and make us all veer off course to spend money on things we don't want (or need) to buy.
15. Join your local Buy Nothing Facebook Group. Most neighborhoods now have a dedicated "Buy Nothing" group on Facebook. It's free and easy to join, and you can score serious deals by scrolling through the posts highlighting what other members are giving away. If there's no Buy Nothing group in your area, arrange a clothing swap with your friends.

16. Only shop for one week's worth of food at a time. Finance guru Tony Steuer suggests to "make a weekly menu and purchase only food you need. The average American household throws away over $2,000 of food each year, which besides being wasteful, is a lot of money. This works out to just over $6 a day."
17. Stash your cash. Whenever you pay in cash and get a $5 bill as change, stash it in a safe place. Cash tends to just disappear from our wallets, so you won't miss this money by putting it aside... and it will add up quickly!
18. Only eat out on discount nights. Lots of restaurants offer Kids Eat Free with an adult entree or a Taco Tuesday special.
19. Adjust your tax withholdings. If you claim more on your W-4, you'll get more back in your paycheck. From there, divert the savings into a high-yield savings account.
Atlanta may be known for its peaches, but we can add amazing pizza to the list thanks to some world-class establishments that know a thing or two about making dough! From artisan pizzas in Midtown to authentic New York slices in Milton, to gluten-free crusts and vegan toppings, we’ve found the best pizza spots in Atlanta that are perfect for the whole family. Scroll down to see where to fall in amore with some gooey goodness.
Atlanta's standard-bearer for authentic Italian-style pizza now has multiple locations. The original Antico, located in owner Giovanni Di Palma's Little Italia neighborhood just north west of Georgia Tech, boasts the highest score in Zagat's first-ever pizza survey of "Best Pizza in 23 U.S. Cities" (beating out New York City), a Zagat Atlanta food score of 28 (making it the highest scored restaurant in the city), and they took home the International "Top in Class" Award for the United States during a worldwide, two-day pizza festival in Salerno, Italy.
There's not a lot of explaining on this one, except that if you're looking for the perfect pairing of light and airy crust, fresh toppings, tangy sauce and the perfect amount of cheese, this is the place. Located just down the block from the adorable (and chain-free) Alpharetta downtown square, Crust is worth a visit.

Blue Moon Pizza is a casual, full-service pizza restaurant with a full bar to top it all off that began in Atlanta in 2003. Their thin crispy crust pie comes in the kid-friendly standard-bearers of cheese and pepperoni, but you'll find creative specialty pizzas (like Thai chicken) that will suit adventurous palates. We love the family meal deal ($40 for a family of 4), and their take-and-bake options.
Savage is a Little 5 Point standard known for the perfect balance of not-too-thick but not-too-thin crust and cheese. For those whose kids are into super heroes, be sure to scope out the indoor decor. They'll be inspired. Plan ahead though, because you can only pick up whole pies at Savage.
Plant Based Pizzeria serves vegan and gluten free pizza made from the freshest ingredients. Their vegan pizza is made from spelt flour, and they have loads of great tasting, healthy pizza options. Try the Georgia Peach, made with roasted basil pizza sauce, vegan mozzarella cheese, spicy beyond sausage, roasted peaches, red onions, and jalapeños.
If you're into great pizza AND dancing robots, then you've found your spot. Located on Buford Hwy., this spot is easy to access and interesting to visit. Pepper the hostess robot greets you, and after you order, server robots serve you. In addition to pizza, there are wings, subs, and salads. And in nice weather, the patio will be a solid choice.
If you used DoorDash this year to order groceries, dinner or diapers, you’re not alone. With 18 million users, the delivery service is extremely popular, especially for its convenience during the pandemic. Now the Deep Dish Report has aggregated order data from Jan. 1 to Oct. 1, featuring the most popular trends of the year.
Take note: Saturday is the most popular day to order groceries and most orders come in around dinner time. So if you’re looking for faster delivery, consider ordering early in the day or midweek. DoorDash users went bananas, literally, as the fruit was the most popular grocery item ordered. And users seem to love their guac, since avocados and roma tomatoes were other extremely popular items.
On the meal delivery side, French fries reigned supreme. They were the top ordered item in 2021, followed by chicken nuggets (obviously), gyro bowls, customizable pizzas, cheesesteaks and acai bowls. In Canada, Pad Thai took the top spot over poutine and in Australia, nachos won out.
Finally, some seemingly random items proved popular on the platform. In June, DoorDash found that crickets were one of the top searched items in the Pets category, maybe for all those hungry reptiles out there. And navy blue comforters were the most popular household item, going against a popular TikTok video that claimed #NavySheets were out. Whatever you’re ordering, it’s easier than ever to get it quickly, safely and affordably!

Admit it: we’ve all become a little more reliant on delivery services in the wake of the pandemic. It’s just so easy!
Now, DoorDash is making the process of getting your goodies even easier with its new innovation, DoubleDash. In a nutshell, you can now tack on must-have items from local stores to your restaurant orders! Your selected Dasher will then deliver both your meal and store order together, with no added delivery fees.
So how does it work? Place your restaurant order on DoorDash like usual, then look for the DoubleDash option on the map to add items from nearby stores after your order is placed. Then add your items from the store page and check out with no minimum order or delivery fee.
Since the program is new, DoubleDash currently only works with 7-Eleven, Walgreens, Wawa, QuickChek, The Ice Cream Shop and DashMart, a DoorDash-exclusive store with thousands of items from your local restaurants. In some markets, DoorDash is also piloting with local restaurants so diners can add add complementary items from nearby local restaurants to your initial meal order.

The LunchMaster
The LunchMaster

What’s on the menu: California roll, carne asada street tacos, Italian market salad.
What makes it unique: Parents can choose up to eight menu options (there are hot and cold entrees, fresh fruit and veggie sides), including a gluten-free or vegetarian meal. Each choice has been designed by a Registered Dietitian, is freshly made with local ingredients and delivered to your kids’ school every day.
How it works: Get your school to register with The Lunchmaster and then you’ll enter your school code online. All Meals adhere to strict regulations, including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
Average cost: One entree, fresh fruit, fresh vegetable, snack, and choice of cold beverage costs less than $6.
The Big Picture: Yumble doesn't deliver lunch to your kids' school, but instead will deliver freshly-packed, ready-to-eat meals to your house, so all you have to do each day is pull one out of the fridge, throw it in a lunchbox and go!
Where: The east coast.
What's on the menu: Presto! Pesto Chicken Sandwich Meal, Mac N Cheese & Nuggest Please, Orange-You-Glad Chicken Bowl and more.
How it works: Simply sign up for four, six, eight or 12 meals a week, and they'll be delivered to your front door on either Tues., Wed., Thurs or Fri.
The Big Picture: Founded in 2006 by two ambitious moms hoping to change lunchtime at America's schools, Revolution Foods is now one of the largest lunch providers in the nation, dishing out more than 2 million meals per week to kids K-12. All meals are made without any artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, high-fructose corn syrup, MSG, nitrates or nitrites.
Where: California, Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, Tennessee, the Mid-Atlantic states and New England.
What's on the Menu: Meals vary per region but may include Korean BBQ beef, enchiladas, chicken pesto pasta salad, jambalaya and more.

The Big Picture: You wouldn't feed your one-year-old the same stuff you'd give your eighth-grader, would you? Well, neither would Chefables. Originally founded with a mission to provide healthy meals to the tiniest eaters—kids as young as one in childcare centers across the San Francisco Bay Area—this lunch delivery company now provides made-from-scratch meals and snacks to kids up to eighth grade.
Where: San Francisco Bay Area.
What's on the Menu: Homemade turkey burger on whole grain roll, served with grilled asparagus and fresh strawberries; baked whole wheat pancakes with berry compote; roasted chicken chow mein.
How it works: Parents go online or use their smartphones to assemble sides, snacks, and/or entrees a la carte to their child's lunch. Meals are delivered just before lunchtime.
What makes it unique: It's not just the kinds of food that's age-appropriate; it's also how the food is served. In creating the daily menus, Chefables co-owner Lesley Kohn said the chefs consider everything from how many teeth their little eaters might have to how big the portions should be to satisfy those hungry tummies. And, everything from the bread to the yogurt is made from scratch.
Average cost per meal: Free or low cost to students/schools who qualify for the National School Lunch Program; otherwise, sides start at $1 and entrees average about $5.

Where: Los Angeles

The Big Picture: California Pizza Kitchen at school? Yes, please! Wholesome Food Services has a slightly different business model than most other lunch delivery companies: It partners with local restaurants (including CPK, Wahoo's Fish Taco, Jamba Juice and others) to provide yummy meals to school kids.

What's on the Menu: Every day features a different restaurant, so Mondays could be pizza and salads from CPK; Tuesday could be spaghetti and meatballs from Noodles & Company. Click here to see some of the partner restaurants.
How it works: Parents order online up to two months in advance. Orders are sent to partner restaurants, who make the foods, which are then picked up and labeled individually for each student.
What makes it unique: Instead of making lunches in its own kitchen, Wholesome Food Services uses partner restaurants to prepare foods kids already know and love. Another cool perk? Every day, Mom or Dad can write a special note to be included on their child's lunch box label.
The Big Picture: There is a monthly menu of breakfasts, lunches and snacks that arrive daily to preschool and child care centers in six east coast states.
