Once you pop you can’t stop—not a Dunkin’ slogan but it’s just popping to mind. That’s because the company just announced Popping Bubbles, strawberry bursting bubbles that can be added to any cold drink. And there’s a fun contest in store, too!

Starting June 23, you can try this fun add-on to your frosty beverage of choice. It’s made with color sourced from plants and the strawberry flavor adds a fruity twist perfect for summertime. All beverages with the bubbles will come with a new pink and orange wide paper straw to fully enhance the popping experience.

The launch pairs with a new instant win online game that rolls out on July 2. Follow Dunkin’ on Instagram for the game link, which allows you to pop virtual bubbles to reveal if you’ve won one of thousands of gift cards or other rewards, like inflatable pool rafts or a cash grand prize. Make sure you’re on it, because you can only play during the month of July.

If you’re pondering which bev to add your bubbles to, Lemonade Refreshers launched this spring and would give you that color contrast for the ‘Gram. But you could also be bold and add it to a frozen matcha latte or a Dunkaccino. The options are endless!

More Disney magic is (almost) back! Disney announced today that fireworks spectaculars will be returning to the parks in July, just in time for Independence Day weekend. If you have an upcoming trip planned to the Happiest Place on Earth, you’re in luck!

Walt Disney World will start the performances on July 1 at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Post up near the Cinderella Castle for lights, projections and pyrotechnics, or head to the World Showcase Lagoon for fireworks, music and lighting effects.

And at Disneyland, get ready for the show starting July 4 with “Mickey’s Mix Magic.” It will turn Main Street U.S.A., the Sleeping Beauty Castle and the “It’s a Small World” facade into fantastic party featuring projections, show lights and lasers.

Can’t make it to the parks? You can watch a virtual “Happily Ever After” fireworks show from the comfort of your couch. If your bags are packed, just remember to ensure you have a valid reservation for each park you want to visit and that it’s linked to your account. Enjoy the shows once more!

Here’s How Your Kiddo Can Sign Up for the Free Scholastic Summer Reading Program

Zulily & Penguin Random House Have Teamed Up to Help Kids in Need

24 Free (or Super Cheap) National Summer Programs for Kids

No matter what the school environment looks like for your kiddo this year, chances are they’ve become a whiz at learning with technology. From home to the classroom, many teachers are turning to Google tools to help their students learn and stay engaged. To help parents understand these constantly evolving tools, families.google has info on all of the Google tools used in classrooms, as well as some other resources that may help your kids learn at home!

Curious About Chromebooks?

Many schools have issued Chromebooks to students for distance learning. Unlike the laptop you may have at home, this one runs on the Google Chrome operating system. Since it works in the cloud, your child’s files, apps and even the computer’s desktop lives online (not stored on the device). However, files can be stored locally and many of the features can be used without Wi-Fi which really comes in handy. Learn more tips and tricks for Chromebooks on Google Families.

Teachers (and parents!) love the built-in settings, easy to use apps and security features that keep user information safe. Designed with accessibility in mind, Chromebooks help learners of all ages and abilities to experience information in a way that works best for them. There are various keyboard options—type using a touchscreen or mouse, or use handwriting or diction to enter information. Audio can be adjusted to meet a child’s preferences and closed captions can be viewed.

Stay Connected with Google Classroom

If you’re a Gmail user, then helping your child navigate a Google Classroom will be really intuitive. This free online platform allows teachers to create a virtual classroom that can be accessed from anywhere, featuring core Google products like Docs, Drive, Calendar and more. Teachers can post and review assignments, share announcements, send messages, add comments to schoolwork and set up Google hangouts for face-to-face learning via video. Assignments are automatically added to the calendar (yay for easy organization!) and your child’s work is saved on Google Drive. Since it’s all paperless, the “dog ate my homework” excuse will never fly.

Ramp up Those Reading Skills

Some educators use Read Along to help their students practice reading. You’ll definitely want to turn to this speech-based app at home (especially over the summer!) to continue to strengthen those skills. Kids read engaging, diverse stories with the help of an in-app reading pal named Diya. As they read out loud, she uses speech recognition technology to chime in for real-time assistance with pronunciation and provide positive feedback.

Get Unstuck

Feeling stumped? Socratic helps students problem solve their way through a variety of subjects, including Science, Math, Literature and Social Studies. Using text and speech recognition, the app surfaces relevant resources and visual explanations from the web to help make more sense of concepts. Socratic is a great partner for parents when kiddos ask a question we don’t have an answer to!

Guide Them to the Good Stuff

Not totally sure what your little ones are up to on those devices? Use the Family Link app to set parameters for digital usage. Use Family Link's parental controls to set screen time and app limits for your child. Receive notifications to approve or block apps your child wants to download from the Google Play Store, as well as manage in-app purchase or hide specific apps. Plus, you’ll get awesome recs for teacher-approved apps you can add to your device.

More Resources!

Families.Google has great tips from Common Sense Media to help you make the most of online learning with your child:

  • You may be a pro at doing video calls for work, but it’s a whole different ballgame when Zoom is where your kid spends their day. Get schooled on how Zoom works as an educational tool, plus more info on the key features and safety settings.
  • There are a variety of programs teachers use to manage their classroom’s online activities. Parents can download those mobile apps to keep tabs, too! Explore daily lessons posted by the teacher, review schoolwork, and read messages on your own device if your child is using:

If there’s one thing every parent on the planet wants, it’s to protect their child. YouTuber Mark Rober is no different.

The former NASA and Apple engineer recently took to his channel to share a special video, and it’s all about his son. Rober is known for keeping his family life private, but in this newest upload, he shares that his son is autistic.

Rober shares in the commentary that he actually filmed the video two years ago, but only just released it now as he finally feels comfortable. His eloquent, succinct and loving descriptions of Autism and how it makes his son as special as he is in enough to make you reach for the tissue box.

In addition to the revelation, Rober is also teaming up with Jimmy Kimmel for a special virtual event that will benefit NEXT for Autism. The unique program creates opportunities for adults on the spectrum so they “can live, work and be a part of their communities so they are not left to live lives in isolation.”

Color the Spectrum will take place on Apr. 30 at 4:30 p.m. PST on YouTube. You can expect to see plenty of stars join in on this very special program including Andy Samberg, Adam Sandler,  Chris Rock, Conan O’Brien, Miranda Sings, iJustine, Jack Black, Jacksepticeye, John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Karl Jacobs, Marques Brownlee, Maya Rudolph, Mark Hamill, MrBeast, Paul Rudd, Rhett & Link, Sarah Silverman, Stephen Colbert, Terry Crews, Vsauce, Zach Galifianakis and more.

More than ever before, there is so much tech in our hands and our homes. It’s pretty cool to have the world at your fingertips, but with that comes extra responsibility, especially when it comes to our kids and tech. Not sure where to start? Google, our favorite search engine, has our back yet again! They’ve put together this informative hub with articles containing simple instructions on keeping in control of your kids’ online experience. Check out these five excellent online parental controls. Looking for more? Explore the Parental Controls section of the new Google Families hub

1. Parental Controls on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch is a massive hit with kids of all ages, but did you know there’s a Parental Controls app for the Switch? Game changer! You can set play-time limits, learn how to turn off voice chat on the Switch system and turn off other social features. You can also learn how to limit mature content, which will prevent kids from playing mature-rated games. Wondering how your kid got that new game on their Switch and then you get the credit card bill? Not to worry, you can learn how to restrict Nintendo eShop purchases and block spending and auto-renewals on both the Nintendo eShop and on Nintendo.com.

2. Google Family Link

No matter your child's age, it's important to establish your family's rules for the digital playground. Google's Family Link app helps parents establish boundaries and healthy internet habits with their families, so kids can safely explore with technology. This free app gives parents all kinds of additional controls for their kid's Android and Chromebook devices—setting screen or app limits, viewing where they're spending their time online, blocking or allowing apps, seeing where their device is currently located and even remotely locking a device when it's time to take a break!

3. Parental Controls on Netflix

Some may argue that Netflix is the best thing since sliced bread, and we agree. With so many choices for all ages and interests, it’s a goldmine of entertainment. Create a password for each kid. Now they can only access their account, and you set controls as you see fit. You can then enable the Netflix Kids experience, limiting what they can view based on age and even adding title restrictions.

4. Apple's Screen Time

Too much of a good thing? You have the power to set time limits on Apple devices too! Just go into Settings > Screen Time and select your child's device to get reports on what apps they're using and how often they're using them. Once you set your passcode, you can set limits for downtime (so necessary!), how long apps can be used, which contacts your kids can get in touch with and even block content, purchases and downloads.

5. Parental Controls on Amazon Echo

Kids love asking Alexa about all kinds of things, and we agree, it's pretty fun. But don't forget to set some limits with your robot pal. It's easy! Enable the Amazon Kids Settings in your Alexa app. Once you've added it, you can manage the settings either through the app or by logging in to your Amazon account and going to your Parent Dashboard.

Google Families Has Everything You Need to Know About New Tech

Three Moms Share How They’re Navigating Their Tech Journey

Google’s Newest Tool Makes Managing Family Tech So Much Easier

—Jamie Aderski

You spent years away from the work-outside-the-home employment market—but that doesn’t mean you lazed on a chaise and ate cookies all day. Instead, you became the CEO of your household, organizing schedules, orchestrating all-day adventures and so, so, so, so much more.

Now, LinkedIn is acknowledging all the major skills you amped up while at home. The online networking platform just added new job titles—and now you can include stay-at-home mom in your online resume.

Photo: Julia M Cameron via Pexels

In the new job title upgrade last week, the professional social networking site added caretaker titles that include homemaker, stay-at-home mom, stay-at-home dad and stay-at-home parent. The changes will hopefully de-stigmatize time spent at home for a variety of reasons as parents seek to re-enter the workforce.

While the caretaker job title addition is a major upgrade to note, it isn’t the change LinkedIn recently made. The site also introduced an optional field at the top of user profile page to add your own preferred gender pronouns. Along with the new titles, LinkedIn also ditched the requirement to link all resume job titles to employers.
