See the Transformers like never before. Netflix and Hasbro, Inc., in partnership with Rooster Teeth, today released the final main trailer for Chapter One of the highly anticipated Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy which premieres on Netflix on Jul. 30. The Series raises the stakes of the Autobot and Decepticon war with Chapter One having six, twenty-two minute episodes, complete with a new animation look and style.

Transformers

Chapter One, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege  begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The war that has torn apart their home planet of Cybertron is at a tipping point. Two leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, both want to save their world and unify their people, but only on their own terms. In an attempt to end the conflict, Megatron is forced to consider using the Allspark, the source of all life and power on Cybertron, to “reformat” the Autobots, thus “unifying” Cybertron. Outnumbered, outgunned, and under siege, the battle-weary Autobots orchestrate a desperate series of counterstrikes on a mission that, if everything somehow goes right, will end with an unthinkable choice: kill their planet in order to save it.

Voice talent includes Jake Foushee (Optimus Prime), Jason Marnocha (Megatron), Linsay Rousseau (Elita-1), Joe Zieja (Bumblebee), Frank Todaro (Starscream), Rafael Goldstein (Ratchet), Keith Silverstein (Jetfire), Todd Haberkorn (Shockwave, Red Alert), Edward Bosco (Ultra Magnus, Soundwave), Bill Rogers (Wheeljack), Sophia Isabella (Arcee), Brook Chalmers (Impactor), Shawn Hawkins (Mirage), Kaiser Johnson (Ironhide), Miles Luna (Teletraan I, Cliffjumper) and Mark Whitten (Sideswipe, Skywarp).

More details regarding Chapter Two, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Earthrise and Chapter Three are coming soon.

The Broadway League announced that Broadway performances in New York City will be suspended through the remainder of 2020 due to COVID-19. They released updated information regarding performance cancellations and ticketing. Broadway theaters are now offering refunds and exchanges for tickets purchased for all performances through Jan. 3, 2021.

Broadway

While continuing to work with city and state officials along with leaders in science, technology and medicine The Broadway league is trying to formulate the best plan to restart the industry. Some of the logistics being reviewed include screening and testing, cleaning and sanitizing, wayfinding in theaters, backstage protocol and much more.

Returning productions are currently projected to resume performances over a series of rolling dates in early 2021. Tickets for performances for next winter and spring are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks. For regular updates on ticket sales, individual show announcements, performance dates, and more, please check Broadway.org for information as it becomes available.

“The Broadway experience can be deeply personal but it is also, crucially, communal,” said Chairman of the Board of The Broadway League Thomas Schumacher.  “The alchemy of 1000 strangers bonding into a single audience fueling each performer on stage and behind the scenes will be possible again when Broadway theatres can safely host full houses.  Every single member of our community is eager to get back to work sharing stories that inspire our audience through the transformative power of a shared live experience.  The safety of our cast, crew, orchestra and audience is our highest priority and we look forward to returning to our stages only when it’s safe to do so. One thing is for sure, when we return we will be stronger and more needed than ever.”

“Our membership is working closely with the theatrical unions and in concert with key experts and some of the greatest minds inside and outside of the industry to explore protocols for all aspects of reopening. We are focused on identifying and implementing necessary measures that will enable us to resume performances safely for Broadway audiences and employees,” said Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League. “We are determined to bring back the people who rely on this industry for their livelihood, and to welcome back all those who love this vital part of New York City, as soon as it is safe to do so.  As so many of us in the Broadway community have been saying during this time – We’ll be back, and we have so many more stories to tell.”

Those holding tickets for performances through Jan. 3, 2021 will receive an e-mail from their point of purchase with detailed information regarding refund and exchange options. Any customers holding tickets through Jan. 3, 2021 that have not received an e-mail by Jul. 13 are advised to contact their point of purchase for assistance after this date.

Laura Benanti Helps Theater Kids After Musicals Were Canceled Due to Coronavirus

It is never too early to start a discussion about race and equity with your children. There are many age appropriate resources for parents to access to help further these conversations. YouTube Kids has curated a playlist about how to talk to kids about racial injustice based on their age.

YouTube

Preschoolers

The Togetherness playlist is made up of short videos featuring friendly characters and Sesame Street Muppets  to help teach preschoolers that all people deserve respect.

Conversation Starters:

What are some things that make you special? What makes other people in your life special? Think about your friends, preschool teachers, or family members.

Do you know people who look different from you? What do you notice about them? (Parents, help your kids name differences – including skin color – in positive ways.)

When you don’t understand someone – perhaps because of the language they speak or because they look or act differently than your family – how do you feel?

Children Age 5 and Older

The Understanding Each Other playlist covers topics such as race, bias, activism in stories, talks and songs. There is also information regarding the civil rights movement.

Conversation Starters:

What does it feel like to talk about race and racism? Is it difficult? If so, what are some ways you can deal with the discomfort?

What are some ways kids can make positive change in the world, especially around discrimination?

What can we learn from the YouTube videos you watched about how people can experience the same things differently? What steps can we take to learn about other people’s experiences?

How to Teach Children Compassion

How to Educate Your Children on Riots & Protests

Being cooped up at home is difficult for children and stressful for the parents. Although the idea is to slow the spread of the virus, there is another aspect of the crisis that one cannot ignore or escape—the impact of the lockdown on your family’s mental health, particularly children.

The virus has disrupted lives globally. The death toll and how rapidly the virus is spreading paints a grim picture of what is happening in the world. And these are some of the main reasons your children may feel scared, anxious, or sad. It is a natural reaction as the whole idea of not shaking hands, hugging, seeing their friends at school, and playing at the park, has burst the safe bubble they were living in. They may have tons of questions regarding the virus and disturbed by such sharp changes in their routine.

It is important how you choose to react and handle your child’s anxiety and stress. Here is how you can help keep your children calm and cope with the anxiety linked to coronavirus:

1. Address and Acknowledge Your Child’s Concerns. Parents are a child’s haven and safety net. They know that if they are suffering emotionally or physically, they can run to their parents for shelter. These are troubling times and certainly not something they or you have ever witnessed before. So, answer their questions regarding the pandemic with reassurance. Be honest with them and talk to them if they hear any distressing news. Let them know people are getting sick, but washing hands frequently and staying at home will keep them safe. They are likely to follow the rules when they understand the reasoning behind it.

2. Keep in touch with Friends and Family. You need to change your perspective of social distancing. Think of it as physical distancing. But keep in touch with your loved ones. Maintaining positive social relationships during these trying times is necessary for our well-being. Tell your children that although they cannot be with them physically, they can do video calls, phone calls, connect through social media, and even write emails. They might be worried about their grandparents who are living alone or are at risk of getting infected. Video chats could bring the anxiety down considerably. As for friends, you can set virtual playdates and set up calls if you have young children who are missing their friends. Having said that, take care of your needs as well. You need to connect with others too. Stay in touch with friends who support you and encourage you. Want to take care of your child’s needs? First, you need to take care of your own.

3. Establish Rules for Limited Screen-time. Parents are still getting used to having kids at home 24/7. With schools closed, children’s screen time has jumped considerably. Parents, apart from their work-from-home responsibilities and home chores, now have to homeschool their children too. To catch a break, they often let their kids use their phones and tablets more than the assigned time. Establish rules regarding media and screen use. Avoiding the constant stream of pandemic news can lessen stress and anxiety levels and set times to check the news and then turn it off.

See that your child does the same. Whether you have a tween, teen, or younger child, their screen usage may have increased a great deal during the lockdown. Set limits on digital time and rather spend time doing productive activities with each other. Apart from virtual learning, see limits on their social media and internet use, in general.

Excessive electronic usage leads to anxiety. If your child is addicted to screens or showing signs of addiction, you can set limits on their screen use via websites like Xnspy and remotely monitor their digital activities and browser history. Apart from getting hooked to news constantly, with too much time available on their hands, they can get lured into inappropriate activities that make it inevitable for parents to keep an eye on their child’s digital use.

4. Creating a Routine. Children look towards their adults for reassurance and support when there are changes in their surroundings. Children flourish in predictable routines. As families all over the world are settling into new normal with new schedules and habits, you should too. Talk to your children, assure them that this is the way things are going be for a while. This way, it becomes easier for the child to accept the new routines.

Here are some tips to help you create a routine, so it reduces your child’s stress:

  • Stick To Proper Sleeping Schedule. Maintaining a regular bedtime routine for your children and yourself is essential. See that you keep your kid’s bedtime the same as it was when he was going to school. This helps them have a routine and would make it easier for them to transition when they have to go back.
  • Create a Morning Routine. Making the bed, changing clothes (rather than staying in the sleeping suit all day long), having a good breakfast along with taking care of physical hygiene helps your child’s mental health.
  • Go outside. Everything may be closed, but you can take your kids outside. You can ride bicycles in your neighborhood, take walks, engage in games in your garden/backyard, or even exercise. As long as you are keeping up with the social distancing and following rules, you are good. Also, exercising does wonders for reducing anxiety and helps in managing negative emotions. If you have to go out to run errands or go to work, reassure your children that where you are going and when you will be back and that you are following rules.

All in all, talk to your children and try to be patient with them. Your few words of reassurance are going to go a long way in restoring their faith that things are going to be okay.

Dunkin’ Just Launched a New Way to Enjoy Your Morning Coffee

Starbucks Introduces New Non-Dairy Drinks

We have had the opportunity to travel a lot while we were living in China. We were so lucky to be so close to so many great places to visit. (Gotta love those frequent flyer miles!)   When we had Samantha we knew that we still wanted to travel. I am a big believer that babies can be adapted to your lifest‌yle if they are trained accordingly. (Unless you have a Satan baby, in that case, good luck.)

Our first trip with Samantha was taken when she was about 2 months old. We went to the Avatar mountains in China which was about a 2 1/2 hour plane ride there and back.

That first trip was a trial run and Samantha did great. That encouraged us to keep traveling, and since then Samantha has been to 11 different countries. People ask me how we travel with a baby and I have compiled a list of tips and tricks that we have picked up along the way.

The Obvious

1. Make sure your baby is sucking on take-off and landing to help their little ears pop. We usually hold off on the bottle until we are taking off. Pacifiers work well, also. Another tip regarding this is if you are using a bottle, make sure to use a smaller nipple than usual so that the sucking takes longer.

2. Things to remember to pack- If you are traveling internationally you will want to make sure to include formula, diapers, wipes, and baby soap. When we went to a very rural part of Bali I am so glad we had been prepared because I never saw any baby products. If you are traveling within the United States you can save on carry-on luggage space by buying diapers and such when you arrive at your destination.

3. What to make sure your diaper bag includes- an extra pair of clothes (I am sure you know this already, you master Mother, you!) I always bring a binkie- and an extra. Formula to last you your plane ride and PLUS some. You never know if you will be stuck in a terminal or your plane will be delayed. Make sure you are stocked with milk for your little, in case a change of plan occurs. Toys, toys and toys. Although, this last trip Samantha wanted anything other than a baby toy. We ended up relenting and letting her chew on the barf bag for a few minutes. (Proud Mommy moment, right there!) I also always make sure to include a blanket. Planes are so stinking cold these days!

The not so Obvious

1. Kids under age two fly free domestic, but flying internationally it is 10% of the adult fare. This is even if your baby is going to be a lap child.

2. Did you know there could be an option to get a baby bassinet when flying internationally? Check your airlines website for rules and regulations regarding flying with an infant. We always call the airline after booking the ticket and tell them we want the seat with the bassinet. If you need a bassinet check seatguru.com to validate that they have this option.

3. When you arrive, do you want the stroller at the gate or at the baggage claim? It is always good to have it at the gate so you do not have to carry them longer than necessary. Talk to them about this right when you check in at the desk. They will give you further information on who to give your stroller to.

4. When we check in for our flights we always ask if there is an empty seat next to us available. We have really lucked out on a number of our flights and have been able to bring the car seat onto the plane with us so that we didn’t have to hold her. I believe it is up to the cabin crew to decide if they let you do this, so try and butter them up when you are asking.

5. If you are traveling internationally and use bottles you may want to bring liquid dish soap and a bottle brush to make cleaning them easier. I usually use a small Madela newborn bottle and put some soap into it. (Don’t forget to use the saran wrap under the lid to prevent leakage!) Double bag them in Ziploc bags with your bottle brush for easy access. You can also use travel toiletry bottles for your soap.

6. My friend introduced me into packing laundry detergent to hand wash things while at the hotel. (liquid works best, obviously). I know it may sound a little ghetto but it may save you from packing a million things! Being able to pack light and wash your baby clothes/bibs/blankets in a hotel tub/sink is the way to go! Especially if you are using those airlines who charge you a ton of money for each checked bag.

The Perks

Get me to the front of the line, sucka! Most places will accommodate travelers with infants. We usually get to go through immigration first.  You also get to board the plane first along with the fancy first class fliers. This allows you to set up your nursery for the next few hours and to put your carry-on in a bin close to you.

The biggest tip I can give you on traveling with an infant is to be prepared and don’t hesitate to ask for help. People are truly willing to give you assistance if you just state your problem.

I am not going to lie to you. Traveling with an infant isn’t always easy. It takes preparation, determination and patience. But, it is so worth it! I know Samantha won’t remember these trips, but we will have some great photos to show her when she grows up.

Hi, i'm Cat! We live in Orlando, Florida where my husband works for Mickey Mouse (no, really). We have two kids, Samantha (5) & Preston (2).
