Wellness extends to spirituality too, it seems. The question "how to protect your energy" saw searches up by 60%, while searches for "how to raise your vibration" jumped by 145%.

4. You have to buy less baby stuff. If you jump on the baby train a few years after your friends and family, you may just experience a flood of hand-me-down baby clothes and gear. Many parents pack away totes of tiny jammies and stash bigger items, like a crib, stroller and highchair, away in the attic in case of a “surprise” baby scenario, but after a few years, they may be ready and willing to hand over the goods and regain their storage space. 1. Go slow and spend lots of time at home. It will keep mommy and baby healthy.
2. Have a routine and stick to it.
3. When in doubt, put them on the boob or add water (bath, shower, sprinkler, hydrate).
4. Don't scroll Facebook while you nurse in the middle of the night. It’s harder to get back to sleep, and you’ll miss out on savoring the time with your baby. It really goes by so quickly, although it doesn't feel like when you're nursing several hours a day!
5. Never wake a sleeping baby.

6. Oldest and best advice in the book: Rest when they rest. Housework can wait.
7. Babies get bored, too! A change of scenery, like a walk around the neighborhood, can work wonders on a grumpy baby.
8. Find your village and ask for help. And if someone offers to come help if you need a shower or a nap, or to do the dishes, take them up on it!
9. There is no such thing as holding your baby too much. Embrace the little moments, be present, and enjoy that little person.
10. If the baby is fed, clothed, and loved, you’re doing everything right. There will be a million opinions on your parenting, so be kind to yourself as long as you know you’re doing your best.
11. Be patient with yourself and baby. You are both new at this. It takes time to get into the swing of things.
13. Take time for yourself. When your needs are met, you are more centered, patient and compassionate.
14. Don’t spend tons of money on baby clothes right away. There is ALWAYS a mom who is desperate to get rid of all the cute little outfits she sadly never got to use because babies grow out of things so fast.
16. Onesie pajamas with zippers only…unless, of course, fumbling with snaps when you’re bleary-eyed and half-asleep during middle-of-the-night diaper changes sounds like fun.
17. Try out different baby carriers until you find one that works for you, then baby wear as much as you can. It makes things so much easier.
18. Velcro swaddles—safe and snug.
19. Gripe water!

Umma Shekhani and her daughter loved swaddles, but when it came time to transition out of the original style, they weren't having much luck. All the options kept her too warm or offered just a little too much freedom. Amber Thibaut grew up as the daughter of a Maui waterman, which connected her strongly to the island culture. That night, Coco Moon was born. Now, Thibaut's brand specializes in buttery-soft baby goods that are all inspired by memories of a childhood in Hawaii. Taeler Horak was a first time mom and she already despised trying to snap baby clothes in the middle of the night. Armed with her great grandmother's sewing machine, she set out to make the first ankle to ankle zippered baby romper. When local moms began asking for custom orders, Horak knew she was on to something. After creating her own website, rebranding and a soft launch on Facebook, Zipease, LLC was born. The female-owned and run business now employs four more women who make the company's entire inventory in house.
After having her second child and returning to work, Krystal Nicole Duhaney struggled with her milk supply like many moms. As a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant she knew there were not enough resources for breastfeeding mothers and wanted to come up with a solution for low milk supply. Using her medical background, Duhaney came up with a milk-making cookie recipe and in November of 2015, Milky Mama was born! Today, Milky Mama's product line includes Lactation Cookies, Brownies, Emergency Brownies, Tropical Iced Tea, Lactation LeMOOnade, Lactation Smoothie Mix, and Herbal Supplements. In addition to offering products, the company also facilitates weekly Facebook chats and a lactation support group so women can come alongside each other in support.
Towards the end of her maternity leave, Becca Davidson's mom offered to watch her daughter once a week. Her mom was really looking forward to spending some quality time with her new granddaughter, but soon realized that because of some arthritis in her thumb, she wasn't able to press the red button hard enough to release the buckle on the carseat. After realizing that a federal regulation required 9 pounds of pressure to release the button for safety reasons, Davidson and her mom set out find a solution. As an Occupational Therapist, Davidson's mother created a tool using splint material, which used leverage to reduce the force needed to unbuckle, and UnbuckleMe was born!. The duo refined the design, ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, attended dozens of events, acquired patents and continues to spread awareness.
Susan Bortone's two kids were never good sleepers. They loved to snuggle and always wanted a soft toy to hold but Bortone never wanted to leave an unsafe toy in the crib, which meant they would wake often looking for their lovey. After trying every sleep trick in the book, she started sketching and making a protoype that combined the security of a sleep sack and a safe toy all in one. When her daughter tried it for the first time, shel slept through the night! Now, Snuggy Buddy is in production and taking pre-orders for the breathable sleep snack made from muslin with a weighted butterfly with soft plush wings stitched at chest level. Beth Fynbo was tired of the "toddler toss," when littles keep throwing things on the floor or putting their mouth on germy restaurant tables. While on a family vacation, Carla Schneider’s infant son could not be consoled. When his pacifer wouldn't stay in his mouth, the mom grabbed the hotel sewing kit and sewed her son’s favorite stuffed toy to a pacifier. Lisa Sutherland and Kiyah Duffy are moms with seven kids between them. Lizzy Ellingson co-founded Blueprint Registry after experiencing her own frustrations with traditional wedding registries. We took one peek at the mini + meep shop and were blown away by the creative illustrations, positive messages and colorful palates of each tee, bib and onesie. Created by Asheville mama, Fay Grant, mini + meep's story dates back to 2014 when Fay was struggling to conceive and began painting artwork that would one day adorn her nursery. Fast forward to 2021 and Fay has donated over 40,000 meals to local children in need (they work with a local nonprofit to donate a meal for every order placed) and her online shop is full of products that are grown and sewn in the USA. mini + meep's line is made from all organic unbleached cotton and printed with eco-friendly, water-based inks. Mom Keren Barash was underwhelmed when it came to finding a quality swimsuit for her daughter. Andréa Bernholtz is no stranger to fashion. Her time with global lifestyle brand Rock & Republic helped form the idea for her new company, SWIMINISTA. Like most women, Bernholtz found it tough to find the best fitting swimsuit, so she set out streamline the design process and build a better suit in the process. Amy Gabriel was a pediatric nurse who found herself at a crossroads, wanting a career change that would allow her to sew and create useful products. So in 2012, LippyClip was launched, selling uber useful holders for lip balms! After seven years of creating and sewing, Gabriel now employs a team of 13 women in her 100 percent women-owned and operated business. LippyClips are made in the USA, by women who work from home and who market, sew, package and ship product all over the U.S.
Dr. Shannon Davis PT, DPT is a mom to two girls from San Diego. Uber Soft Hoodies Designed by Kids: TreeHouse Design Studios
Designed by kids and made by adults, TreeHouse Design Studios is not your average hoodie or trucker hat. Founded by mom of three, Gretchen MacIver, this company actually was born from an Instagram post of her daughter’s artwork. When Gretchen received an actual cash offer for her daughter’s painting, it got her wheels spinning. She realized how great it would be to showcase kids’ art screen-printed on long-lasting hoodies and hats, instead of throwing the creation in a box never to be seen again.
TreeHouse Design Studio aims to encourage kids’ creations. Their newest design—called “REESEscape” named for artist, Reese Fox—is translated onto a heather navy hoodie with a combo of screen printing and embroidery. The original piece used a combo of permanent markers and watercolors. Each hoodie is produced in downtown LA and includes an oversized name tag so kids can personalize their hoodies.
