This was written by an anonymous parent and shared on Facebook and we wanted to share it with you.

Hey Teachers,

I just wanted to let you know that however these next weeks go down—it’s all good. We’re on your team. This wasn’t what you signed up for, and I sort of can’t believe you’re actually going to attempt to do this. Your life is about to become one giant conference call with two dozen nine-year-olds who have no set bedtime, and are hopped up on Captain Crunch, Pop-Tarts and whatever their parents have been stress-baking for the past 12 days. What could possibly go wrong?

In light of this, our family is giving you blanket permission to do this however the hell you want for the next two months.

Does your kid want to sit on your lap while you teach long division? That’s great. Need to stress eat half a bag of chips or box of cookies while you’re trying to explain how to calculate Experimental Error? Go for it.

Feel like having morning meetings in your pajamas—all month long? It’s a judgment-free zone here. Lord knows that’s what I’ll be wearing until at least noon.

Having a panic attack because you need to check in on your parents and wanna point that Zoom camera at three straight episodes of Myth Busters for a Science assignment? Excellent plan.

Want to just sit there and ask them how their days were for 40 minutes without mentioning a single thing about MLA formatting? Please, God, do that.

See, I don’t care if you teach my kids one more thing this semester, and this is why: Just by showing up, by checking in, by caring enough to do this freaking impossible job—you’ve already taught them the only things I really wanted them to get out of school.

You’ve taught them that people are flexible—they adapt to new things.

You’ve taught them that people will show up for them even when it’s hard.

You’ve taught them that communities work together for the greater good.

You’ve taught them the world is a good place. That even when circumstances are scary, people are good.

You’ve loved them enough to be there—and that’s all any of us can do, is love each other through this.

I’ve got six at home right now—the littles both 10, the middle schooler and three high schoolers. I don’t care which kid of mine you’re working with, all three need those lessons reinforced right now.

Our kids will be ok. Take care of yourself too. We love you. You’ve got this—and if you don’t, I’m not telling.

Following along in the footsteps of other movies based on iconic Disney rides, the new trailer for Jungle Cruise does not disappoint. During an Instagram Live introducing the trailer, Dwayne Johnson interacted with a boat full of skippers from the Jungle Cruise attraction at the Disneyland Resort. The new movie is set to hit theaters this summer.

According to Walt Disney Studios on YouTube, “Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise  is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.”

The newest attraction-turned-movie from Disney is Jungle Cruise, and it’s scheduled to hit theaters in late July. If you don’t think you can wait until then, we’ve got good news. There’s also a new game coming in June 2020, and it’s based on a mix of the movie and the ride. We got a sneak peek, and not only does it sound like tons of fun for your next family game night, but there’s a special catch for Disney super fans! Keep reading to find out more.

What about the game?

Use your riverboat to transport your passengers (four families, one of which will be your new boss as overseers of the Jungle Navigation Company) and cargo safely through the jungle while overcoming challenges and obstacles. Will you get the right family to the right spot? That’s up for you to figure out, so be careful who you drop ashore before you reach your destination! Fans of the ride will recognize the boat captain’s punny jokes and the ride’s famous landmarks. For two to four players, ages eight and up, it'll have a retail price of $29.99.

So, what's the catch?

While at Toy Fair 2020, we were let in on a little secret—there will be TWO versions of the Jungle Cruise Adventure Game. One will only be available at the gift shops near the Jungle Cruise rides at Disneyland and Disneyworld, and the other one will be available for purchase pretty much everywhere else. The special edition will have a different board layout and different board and box illustrations for a unique collector’s item!

The First “Jungle Cruise” Trailer Just Dropped & We’re Ready to Go for a Ride!

The origin of International Women’s Day dates back to a women’s celebration organized by the Socialist Party of America in response to a march in Denmark in 1910. Women in Europe protested by marching on March 19th, 1911, to demand the right to vote and hold public office. In 1975, the United Nations officially recognized International Women’s Day as March 8th.

Did you know that the day is an official holiday in countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, and Zambia? No matter how the day is celebrated, the idea behind the day is to celebrate women’s rights, equality, and progress. Here are five women who broke through barriers in 2020 and did something that was once considered impossible for women!

1. Heaven Fitch: First Female Wrestling Champ (United States) Teenager Heaven Fitch was the first female wrestling champ in the state of North Carolina. She beat her opponent, a teen boy, in a match that she won 11-3. Asked about her interest in wrestling, Fitch said she was always interested in wrestling because her brothers competed and she was their sparring partner. “(My parents) didn’t want me to wrestle,” she said. “I’m pretty sure it was because they didn’t want me to get hurt. But I would just be like, ‘Well, if they can do it, then I should be able to do it.’”

2. Reema Juffali: First Female Race Car Driver (Saudi Arabia) Women were banned from driving cars in Saudi Arabia until 2018. But Reema Juffali, the country’s first race car driver, was excited about cars and racing long before 2017. She attended a course in car racing in 2014 in the United States and it launched a passion for her. She is expected to compete in the 2020 Formula 4 racing championship in United Arab Emirates. Asked about her path-breaking interest, she says, “Many of [my friends and family] know little about racing. But they all know how much it means to me and are very supportive and proud. That’s more than I can ask for.”

3. Captain Rosie Wild: First Female Office To Pass A Brutal Test (United Kingdom) Even though women were allowed to take All Arms Pre-Parachute selection course, a brutal entry test to an elite regiment of the British Army for more than a decade, Captain Rosie Wild is the first woman to actually complete this rigorous test course. The test included marching ten miles in one hour while carrying a thirty-five-pound backpack, and an endurance test of marching twenty miles with a backpack and a rifle in four and a half hours. Rosie will join the Royal Horse Artillery to serve the British Army.

4. Eímear Noone: First Female Conductor At The Oscars (Ireland) Eímear Noone, a music composer who has worked on video games like Overwatch and World of Warcraft, was the first woman to conduct the orchestra. The forty-two-piece orchestra has historically been conducted by men, even though women play a significant role in playing the instruments. Her message to young music conductors? “Keep on keeping on. Know thyself. And failure is part of it. It’s not the fun part, but it’s definitely part of it.”

5. Katie Sowers: First Female To Coach At The Super Bowl (United States) Female coaching assistants are still a rarity in the NFL; however, women have broken through the bias barrier in the past few years. In February, Katie Sowers became the first female to coach in the Super Bowl when her team, the San Francisco 49ers, played against the Kansas City Chiefs.

We're two perfectly imperfect moms who have five very different kids between the two of us. We believe that topics in news are a fantastic way to spark conversations in families. That's why we started the Dinner Table Conversation series here at Xyza: News for Kids. Won't you join us in the conversation?

Your favorite supervillians are here and ready for battle. The brand new Sinister Six Expansion Pack for Marvel United was the first-ever Marvel game on Kickstarter. Back in February, the game raised more than $2.8M by over 21,000 backers, and it’s finally available for purchase at Target, Walmart and Amazon.

Marvel United is a fast-paced, cooperative game where you band together with others as you play as your favorite Marvel superheroes and defeat villains. The game is also available to play in solo mode.

Game play is super easy and quick to learn so it’s perfect for family game night. The game is full of kids’ favorite superhero characters like Spiderman, Hulk, and Captain America. They will have fun collecting them all.

The game pieces come bare so the whole family can have fun painting them together which adds a whole new dimension to game play. No game is ever the same. Using different expansion packs and locations make it easy for you to play an infinite number of times all while exploring new challenges each time.

Thar she blows! Ready for a whale of an adventure? Whale watching season is in full swing when the great gray whales are migrating south down the coast to Baja. As late as Apr. you can catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures by land, by sea or at a festival. Here are 3 ways your wee ones can see these gentle giants.

Since your little captain goes gaga over the guppies in the pond at the park, imagine their delight when you spot a spouting 50 foot, 40 ton gray whale! And the story behind why the whales are so visible from Jan. to Apr. along the SoCal waters makes your own pregnancy discomfort memories pale—the gray whale is pregnant for a year and makes a 10,000 mile round trip journey from Alaska to Baja to deliver her 1500 pound baby. Now that’s a birthing story.

Have a Whale of a Time at the Whale Festival
The biggest festival for whales in the area is back. The Dana Point Festival of Whales takes place every Mar. when 40–50 whales pass by Dana Point each day, using the Dana Point Headland’s 200-foot cliffs as a landmark to check their migration path. On this festive weekend, you can find the perfect whale watching excursion for everyone, from several whale watching boats with tours of varying length (and price) to the opportunity to get a glimpse of these amazing mamas from land by hiking through the Headlands Conservation Park.

There are also tons of activities that entertain the kids while the whales are submerged, like a Rubber Ducky Race, Classic Car Show, Fishing Clinic, Diamond Dig (for treasure!) and more.  Check the schedule of events for details.

Hit the High Seas
If you’ve got your sea legs, the best way to see whales is to go to them. While no company can guarantee that you’ll see whales, it’s pretty much a given that if you keep peepers peeled, you will at least get up close and personal with some playful pods of dolphins and barking seals and sea lions. Most companies offer special rates for kids as well as tons of information about whale migration patterns, characteristics, and other interesting facts that will make your kid a whale expert.

Over the years, we’ve found that these are the best companies to trust with your first whale watching trip. Davey’s Locker and Newport Landing Whale Watch both depart from Newport Beach. Harbor Breeze Cruises is located in Long Beach, Captain Dave’s out of Dana Point is well worth the drive, and if you’re looking to stay closer to the LA area, Marina Del Rey Sportfishing Cruises is our local pick.

Remember, when you’re on the boat, you’re stuck (in the best possible way), and there’s no turning around for snacks or jackets or anything else you might need. As always, when traveling with tots, it’s best to be prepared, and we have found these tips invaluable when sailing over the bounding main:

  • Bring sunscreen and layers. Sunshine reflects off the water on the most overcast of days, and even when it’s hot as blazes on land, it’s a good 20-30 degrees colder when you are on the water. Little fingers get cold; if you have ski mittens, now’s a good time to get extra use out of them.
  • Bring a waterproof jacket, because the spray from the ocean can get you wet.
  • If you’re worried about upset tummies on the water, go early. The seas tend to be calmer in the morning.
  • Forewarned is forearmed! Talk to the kids about all the animals they might see, so they’re as excited to see seagulls as the grays. Even in high season, you might not see a whale. But bring a notebook to record everything you do see, and treat each viewing with raptures and they won’t be disappointed. (We’ve never gone without at least seeing a load of dolphins!)
  • That notebook does double duty as a tic-tac-toe board or drawing pad. Bring it and/or something else to entertain the youngest members of your expedition who can get bored if there’s a long stretch with no sightings.

Landlubbers, Unite!
You’re the type that glamps, not camps, and your idea of a nautical adventure is Ralph Lauren boat shoes. Rocking is for chairs, not the deck you walk on. We’ve got two spots where you never have to leave land to catch sight of enough whales to satisfy Ahab.

Elegance with Mimosas & Sea Mammals
If hotels were sea creatures, Terranea would Moby Dick. It’s the big one, the one that stands out from the crowd.  Years ago, the area was home to the largest oceanarium in the world, but now it’s the lap of luxury.  It’s also a front-row seat to the migration show where you can lap up food and drinks while you peruse the pacific for the great grays. Here’s how we play it: park in the lot (for a fee) and explore the walking trails post-brunch. Keep your eye on the water—whales swim right past the point.

Point to the Point
If your budget or timeline doesn’t allow for a hotel trip, grab your binoculars and follow the trails to Point Vicente Lighthouse. Right next door, you’ll find the Point Vicente Interpretive Center, one of the best shoreline spots for whale watching.  It’s so good, in fact, that it’s where the Los Angeles chapter of the American Cetacean Society conducts its annual whale migration census. Every day from December to May, trained volunteers record the number, species and behavior of migrating whales, so you’ll find loads of people who can answer your budding mammologists questions.

Disney just dropped the first trailer for The Jungle Cruise and you’re going to want to climb aboard for an adventure with Dwayne Johnson.

This isn’t the first time Disney has based a film on one of it’s popular theme park rides. The latest Disney attraction-turned-movie features Dwayne Johnson starring as Frank, a charming riverboat captain who meets up with determined explorer Lily, played by Emily Blunt. Together they end up on an epic adventure down a wild animal infested river––you know, kind of like the ride.

For the uninitiated, the Jungle Cruise ride itself was initially inspired by a film called The African Queen, which starred Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn on a similar riverboat adventure. If the trailer is any indication, the new film is definitely channeling some of those classic vibes along with nods to some other famous action-adventures, like The Mummy and Romancing the Stone.

The Jungle Cruise, which also stars Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramirez and Paul Giamatti hits theaters Jul. 24, 2020.
